    Did the same to mine a while back. I also mounted the running board lights underneath and swapped the bulbs with LEDs...

      Anything specific you did to mount them underneath, or just zip tied them in position? Looking to the removal this weekend, and I'd love to relocate the lights.

    How do the Bilsteins ride with the stock airbags tricked? Does the valving seem to work okay with them?

    Where can i order the front shocks only ? I’ve looked everywhere

    • @MR_Garage
      @MR_Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They seem to be back-ordered big time. Check my lift video, you can use the later model 460 fronts but they are mm or so wider where the strut mounts to the control arm (part numbers listed). Just have to widen the mounting tabs slightly (hammer time).

    • @dannynguyen8963
      @dannynguyen8963 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MR_Garage another question. Thanks for the reply! I plan on doing this same lift but leave the rear air bag suspension adding washers. I’m a new gx470, how do I set and use the controls ? Where should I set it at etc. thank you!

    • @MR_Garage
      @MR_Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will always default back to the N setting when driving which is where you should keep it. The lift simply offsets N and H settings to +2" ish. The low setting will always drop to the bump stops.

    Great video! I’m considering doing this to my 2005 gx470. Would you mind sharing a little more on how this effects the vehicle off road? What you can and can’t do? Are there any added risks off pavement that you should be concerned with?

    • @MR_Garage
      @MR_Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lift is just more capable offroad if you do wheels / proper offroad tires and add some ground clearance. Not a wheeler by any means or made for crazy offroad adventures. But has gotten me anyplace I have wanted to go.

    How many miles do you have on your gx? How many miles have you put on it since you have had it?

    hello, quick newbie question, can you do the air bag trick with the wheels on? I ask because I imagine you have to play with the spacers to find the right height, and it will be a pain to take on and off the tires each time!

    • @MR_Garage
      @MR_Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, just more difficult to do so.

      I used this exact set www.ebay.com/itm/262503061888?ul_noapp=true This set lists as 2qty of 24-239370 for front and 2qty of 33-187174 for rear.

      @@MR_Garage Thanks for the info on the shocks. I just finished putting a set of FN wheels on my sons GX with some Falken Wildpeak 265/70r17's in stock form and it looks great but does rub slightly. I thought about just leveling the front to get rid of the rub but decided to do exactly what you have done with the Bilsteins, diff drop and step removal. I was curious if you have completed the cut on the boards and if so any suggestions on tooling or how far down on the board to actually cut?

    • @MR_Garage

      Rears are 33-187174. I am doing this identical lift setup on my wifes 07 470 in the next week or so. Will document it all. Simple and will look killer :)

    I've been watching/reading everything I can on the GX470. We also own two. A black 2004 with 97k miles (wife) and my offroading white 2009 with 147k miles. Finally, in just 5:24, I now know exactly what to do!
    Bilsteins, airbag trick, diff drop & remove side steps. Then wheels and tires. I really didn't want 285/70r17. So glad you went with 265/70r17. Thanks so much!

    Why not just adjust the bar that connects to the linkage?

    • @MR_Garage
      @MR_Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you have to adjust both sides equally and the geometry of the linkage makes it a pain. I did not try it, I went off the experience of others who did spoke to it. Very simple to take two bolts out and add some spacers which equal a specific amount of adjustment per washer.
