    Glad to see you back in a more consistent Rick. I know it's hard with your main job. Also nice seeing you use some CarPro chems. Lift and Reset are my favorite soaps; the smell is absolutely amazing. I'd also like to put my vote in for the return of Friday night wash and chat. Maybe doing it live would be awesome as I don't doubt you could draw the crowd. Stay safe Rick and enjoy your weekend!

      You've given me some food for thought. The wash I do usually takes quite a bit of time, so doing it all live would be interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I do wish I had more "free" time to dedicate to garage projects, but at least I have the breaks in the schedule and the summers off!

    Wow the gloss is really dripping after using the detail firms products. I also noticed how well your coating is holding up through those brutal winters. One can never go wrong using CarPro soaps and they always offer a luxury experience. Thank you for the video and your Audi looks amazing.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment, Neil. I find the coating, left on its own, is failing in a few places. The fact I always use a spray sealant of some sort after a maintenance wash is helping, but I need to re-apply a coating here in the Spring. The current layer of Gyeon MOHS has done well over the past two years.

    Hi mate !
    What a great relaxing video again !
    Please let me know your feelings about Carpro Reset.
    You know that I am a big fan of Gyeon products, which I am using most of the time but to be honest, I have to say that Reset is just a top notch car shampoo😍.
    Super sudsy and giving you so much slickness for your contact wash !
    And the aquamarine smell is just icing on the cake 😁
    Rick, I could see some rock chips on your windshield which I also have on my A5.
    Is it me or Audi's glass are kind of sensitive ?
    Besides that, your car is always looking so pristine for a daily, so stunning !
    Looking forward to the next one !
    Stay RAD !

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely feel like I got a great experience with the Lift and Reset and plan to use them regularly moving forward. As for the windshield, I share your feelings. It is the cheapest glass I have ever had the displeasure of owning. I do very little driving in heavy traffic and the windshield consistently attracts micro chips. I know it is a place that Audi has decided to save money and I highly suspect this glass is being sourced from a crappy factory with cheap processes. It is one area of my car that stresses me out.

      @@RADGarage thanks for your quick reply.
      Indeed Audi did some non sense going for cheap glass with such poor quality.

    Great video as usual. One question : is your vehicle ceramic coated ? If it is, how come that you use a pH 12 pre-wash soap (Lift) ? I thought we were supposed to apply pH neutral products on ceramic.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, this ceramic coating is barely hanging on. It has done a decent job the past two years but I’ll be reapplying a coating here in the Spring so I’m just using whatever products strike my fancy at this point.

    • @gregorytimmermans6984
      @gregorytimmermans6984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RADGarage Update : I need to correct my own comment since last 3 days I've watched several videos (for instance Forensic detailing channel or Pan The Organizer) saying that using alkaline products (pH 12) is paradoxically better on ceramic coated cars, because it cleans really better (so reduce the risk of marring) and the pH is actually not as crucial as everybody says. What do you think about this ?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I don't stress about how to wash my ceramic coated car. The way I look at it, if the coating can't stand up to some soap - it has no chance against the road conditions we face here. I have adjusted my expectations that a coating will only be effective for a year on my vehicle. I prolong its life by using some sort of spray sealant after each maintenance wash.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh man, we are a few months away from lawn maintenance, but I do look forward to that day when it finally arrives! PPF is essential up here due to the gravel the city uses on icy roads. I have the entire front end wrapped in PPF along with the mirrors and the leading edge of the roof. I am contemplating having the entire car wrapped in a matte-style PPF here, but just haven't quite made up my mind yet.

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the secret to its longevity is to prevent it from ever become too dirty. After the wash, I just thoroughly rinse it in warm water and allow it to hang dry. Prior to hanging it, I "fluff" up the fibres and this process seems to work since this brush is easily 3 years old now.

    Hey rick how come you always use the garden hose to rinse after hand washing instead of the pressure washer?

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a question I get a lot. Since the pressure rinse after the foam treatment rid the surface of pretty much all loose dirt, the rinse of the hand wash doesn't require the pressure. Any residual debris that remains is in the soap that rests on the surface, so a soft rinse is all that I feel is required at that point. Besides that, I find it is quicker, creates less humidity, results in less water being sprayed around the garage and just leaves me feeling tranquil and overall satisfied.

    How do you keep the brake rotor from rusting while washing the rims? I got silver wheels on my S5 and I hate when the rotor is begining to rust. So much rusty water on the clean rims….

    • @RADGarage
      @RADGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Someone else asked me that question and I don't really have a good answer. Sometimes, the rotors are super rusty and sometimes they don't seem too bad like during this maintenance wash. It probably has to do with the fact that I blow dry the wheels with my Master Blaster and if I catch the water prior to it rusting the rotors. It really is one of those issues that ticks you off once you have the car so clean. I'll have to pay more attention next time.
