    They need a break in of at least 10 km, before they reveal the true character. I own those tires and they were really bad on the first few kilometers.
    My heavy Honda vfr1200x was sliding in the back and the bike was falling over into the corners. Newer had such a bad new tire before ...
    However, after 50 km my confidence was back and I started to go to the limits. This tire is amazing, feels lighter than the Michelin Street 5, offers very high grip levels in dry and wet.
    It has excellent dumping capability, much better then any sport/touring tires I had on my bike before. It offers a smooth, comfy ride with an excellent feedback from the road.
    Very neutral in the corners, very stable and effortless when breaking or accelerating in the corners. Overall performance of a good sport/touring tire with additional off road capabilities.
    Unlike any other 80/20 enduro tire I had on before, this one produces no vibrations at all. There is a very slight wobbling in the steering on uneven roads, barely noticeable and neglect able for me.
    The only down point is the noise, loudest tire of any I ever mounted on my bike. The noise becomes noticeable above 60 km/h and increases with the speed.
    I ride always with head set or ear plugs, so it doesn't bother me at all.
    In the past I was switching between sport touring (summer) and enduro (winter) tires, depending on the seasons. This is the first tire, I plan to keep on for the whole year.

    These tyres are exceptional. I have had a set on my old GS adventure. I had them in almost every condition as well as torrential rainfall. They stick like glue to asphalt. Off road they are very capable in most conditions. Mud and deep sand is their achillies. The front tire is quite noisy unfortunately, but you do get used to it. The noise dissapears around 130kph.

      They appear after a few hundred miles as great tyres indeed, although a little noisy

    I got these on my 2024 Transalp, grippy tires but the noisiest tires I've ever owned between 100 to 125 kms per hour. Gotta wear ear plugs all the time now.

    The technology applied to the tires in recent years is unbelievable for example 10 years ago! There is no longer the abysmal difference of what it was between a road tire and an off-road tire. One thing is certain the bikes continue to have two wheels, and it is the tire that keeps us connected with the road ...

    I am a big fan of the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 on my GSA ( only road use) and switched to the Scorpion STR version just for the looks. Comparable to Tourance next (my second choice) vs Karoo street. In terms of looks, the best choice for a GS or NineT Scrambler. They feel great, but incredibly noisy! And I was done after 5000km. So went back to the Trail 2. So my lesson learnt: if you don’t go offroad, stick to the 90/10 street versions or go for a 100% road tyre. They feel better, are more comfortable and last longer.

      @RiderCamTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info matey, the Karoo streets are awesome sticky and feel great (after only a few hundred miles) but as you say are noisy. Only time will tell if the noise is a problem or not. Eek!

    As I ride my GS 95% on road I went for Michelin PR4s, so far superb wear rates and loads of grip wet or dry, apparently the PR5s are even better..but it’s personal preference. I source mine from Tyreleader and have them fitted and balanced locally.

    They look great, I really hope you get on well with them, I might buy them next, love the look and the fact there’s a a bit of off road with them to. What’s the noise comparison with the stock “Anikees” “Panikees” mine are wearing so fast, will be replacing shortly. Great review matey (so far)

      Hey Michael, they are Fab trysts although a little noisy. Done a few hundred miles on the bow and hoping they get quieter :)

    Hi - great review, thanks. I've got Continental TrailAttack 3s on my GS and they're great in "normal" wet and dry conditions on my local (Yorkshire) roads. The problem is in Autumn when there's mud and leaves on the country roads - they're very sketchy - and I came off (at very low speed thankfully) on a bit of wet mud. I'm torn between a pair of Tourance Nexts or these Karoo Streets. I'm not bothered about the noise as I wear noise cancelling earplugs. Also, I rarely go on motorway/dual carriageway. Would you recommend Karoo Streets for the extra dirty road grip or stick with the Tourance (or RoadTec01)?

    • @mikewalker3536
      @mikewalker3536 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, so just an update - I went for the Karoo Streets and do feel a lot more confident on the back roads, however I'll be getting off them as soon as the weather (or should I say road surface) improves - they're really noisey over 55-60mph. Wow - what a howl - even with any type of ear plugs. I don't need to look at the speedo as the I know what speed I'm doing by the awful noise. I think in hindsight I wouldn't bother with these tyres again.

    Be interesting to see the results Toby. My guess, noise will certainly be an issue with the road miles you do. I like the idea of versatility on gravel, unsealed roads - let’s see.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definately Russell, great tyres so far although are they going to be too noisy? Eek!

  • @garycampbell7891

    I binned the noisy and unpredictable Anakees and after much research with fellow bikers went for Michelin Pilot Road 4 ‘s. The difference is night and day! Quiet, smooth fantastic grip. My use is 100% road and let’s be honest no tyre is going to excel both on and off road so any dual purpose tyre will ultimately always be a compromise. Cheers.

    As you are nearly never running off road I would stick with the Roadtec 01 less noise better grip and there's a Heavy weight version for the heavy loaded GSA's.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are great. Grip the road well and give lots of confidence, not sure about the noise yet though :( will report back soon about that. But other than that Fab tyres.
      You can get the front for around £110 and the rear for about £125 so not the cheapest but well on par with the tourance nexts and roadtec 01’s. Time will tell :)

    What about the wear now, the vibration and the sound? Do you experience a lot of vibration? How many miles do you think they will do and on what surface in %, onroad/offroad? Are these tires/tyres still (to) noisy? Do you need earplugs while riding? I'm looking for these tires/tyres or the Pirelli Rally STR is another option if they are not to noisy and give not a lot op vibration. Thx in advance!

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey buddy, the tyres squared off quite quickly which was dissapointing, the noise was very loud and even though we ride with earplugs in all the time you could still hear the tyres roaring away. great tyres for grip and what they do, but the noise was a little too much... didnt notice any vibration though

    Hi Toby .. I'm looking at changing my tyres on my crf 1000 Africa Twin before I go to the Black sea and I like the look of these tyres and the possibility of doing some light off roading .. I loved the Roadtec 01 on my Bandit so I am keen to find out how you are getting on with these Tyres? Now you've been using them for a few weeks how have you found them on dry and wet roads etc? and when will you be doing the next review of these tyres? Many Thanks Graham ..

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Graham, thanks for the question. I have to say that they are brilliant, both in the wet and in the dry. They seem to stick to the road like a limpet! which is so confidence inspiring to say the least. They are performing well and are really comfortable too, the only trade off is that as they have such an open tread they are a little noisy, but im sure would work well for you if you plan to do a little off roading too. Will be reviewing them again in a few weeks when we have some more miles on them, but for now they are great (albeit) a little noisy. Hope this helps

      Hi Toby, Thanks for your reply, I can put up with a bit of noise if they do everything else well .. So I think I've now reached a decision .. I shall look forward to your next review with great interest .. You've been very helpful .. Many Thanks .. Graham

    I'd love a comparison to the TKC70 if you ever have the chance. I run them on my R1200GSA and I think they're good on dirt, good on the track, ok in winter. But I've always been a Metzeler rider. Certainly looking at the Karoo Street. Only problem is, I'm happy with the TKC70 already..

      I had Roadtec 01 on the R1150GS and loved them on the street. But it was right out dangerous on mud.. I know, no surprise, but still..

    I was following your reviews of the Roadtec 01s but can't see one with the max mileage you got out of them. The last one I could find was at 6000 miles. What did you get out of them in the end? 😎

    After over 8000km with Continental TKC 70 on my CRF1000L Africa Twin (very good in dry and wet condition) i changed to the Metzeler Karoo Street. Grip and steering and cornering is very good after 250km experience BUT these tyres are very noisy at speed 88km/h and above. They kill my video sound. I´m not amused about this. Just4FunBiker PS: I´ll try to return them.

    • @RiderCamTV

      I think its due to the large spaces in between the tread, great tyres and boy do they grip the road! Just the noise :(
      Thankfully ear plugs are silencing :)
