Very informative. Exactly the same issues and conclusion I have experienced. It has been driving me mad. Hope your message will reach BMW Motorrad very soon. Thank you Sven.
That's interesting. I have found the info is limited on this new Navigator but the one thing Sven said that really stood out was the GPX imports won't work. Great review and the best I have seen so far....Cheers
very helpful information, thank you for the tips, I hope it has a wide impact on the sale of this gadget, I wish you many happy motorcycle trips and as many returns.
Thank you for the review. I created a route in Tyre but found I needed to load it into the app, then Export as Waypoints to get the unit to load it. Lack of the ability to set a home, or rename favourites is very annoying too.
Great review. Thanks. It's interesting that it doesn't support importing a GPX file as a route, because the Connected Ride app on the iPhone does. I'd have thought they were using the same code base.
Zumo maps are way better, you can use specific profiles, exit information is displayed on a Zumo or Navigator 6 and you can disable route recalculation. I have no need for bike data on my Navigator,I use the the TFT for this.
I spent a lot of money to buy this Connected Ride Navigator and already hate it. I can't read the streets on the map, can't select a "Home" location and loading .gpx routes seems to be a problem. I just ordered the 3DAM adapter and am going back to my Zumo XT.
@@thetubelesschannel Thank you for checking. It's a shame though... Calimoto App for instance gives you some warnings. For £660 for this unit you'd expect some 'additional' features ;)
Thank you for your videos on this GPS, I come to the same conclusions as you. In this last video, you seem to have a user manual, could you provide the link to obtain it please
Hi Sven, I have been following your videos about the BMW Navigator VI vs. BMW ConnectedRide GPS. I have had a few issues with my Navigator VI and I am in the process of replacing it with a new one. My doubt is which one... I thought the ConnectedRide would be a good option but just learned from you that this might not be the case. I heard yesterday from a BMW dealer that a totally new model (similar to Garmin XT) is about to be released next month of February 2024 and I have been adviced to wait for it before making a decision. Have you also heard about this new model? Thank you Pedro
Sorry I dont know because I sold mine. But the Garmin Zumo XT2 is same...you will have to turn it completely off to be sure it is possible to use it next morning without a long wait for charging. Stupid behaviour of these GPSes. I prefer a long boot time before a very long charge time :-) Listen BMW and Garmin !
Ok, thaks for the answer. How much you ask for your unit? If price is right, I would be willing to try it out and hope bmw will fix soon with new soft updates.
Hi, BMW should be able to answer that. They really do need to get all that questions about a product that is useless for many. When it comes to speed radars I didnt test. But I did not see any functionality for that.
@@johnnycigarettes3325 BMW York told me when I went in on the 4th they weren’t allowed to sell them. I’ve scrapped the idea and now ordered a Carpe Iter tablet and bar controls which has cost more but reliable.
That’s funny. The manual is in Romanian😅😅😅. I have a question, do you know if the voice assistant is supported? (Siri/ok google?). I know the tft does not support it so i decided to use a second phone just for navigation and use my primary phone for music and calls (and keep siri). Would be a big plus to be able to use voice assistant with this navigator. Thanx :)
So sad an expensive unit like that has simple faults that anyone who actually uses a GPS will find. Simpler (cheaper) to buy a cheap smart phone and use google's downloadable maps.
Hallo Sven, the version 1.0.1 has been released. I upgraded the navigator, but I'm not able to spot the differences. Not yet tried on the bike. Any idea from your side? thanks a lot Luigi
Thank you for very informative review.
Thanks for watching !
Thank you. A comprehensive review of the unit.

Thanks, I have sent mail to them regarding tracks and the problems with route import. The support mail is connectedride@bmw.com

Mycket bra recension Sven, tack.

Agree that's annoying....it's premature yet.
it eats .gpx files just fine.
excellent!

It does the import but if you for example made the route in basecamp it will not start in the Navigator but it will in the app. Yes strange.

Yes bike data is also available in the TFT

I did the same, went back to Garmin
Very informative 👏 Thank you 😊 Is the navigation software on the unit indicating speed cameras ahead of you?
No it does not (yet?) 😧
It would be nice if all this was rectified before releasing it for sale.
Informative review, though
Ride safe👍
@@thetubelesschannel thank you
no it does not show speed cameras...just the speed limit everywhere

Thanks for your feedback which was very interesting, I have not heard that until now.
Do you know if they fixed the issue with battery drain when you leave the navigator on the bike over night? So it powers off in a good way?

Hi, thanks for the review! Does this unit ( and zumo XT) show traffic jams and speed cameras?
The Navigator does not show speed cameras, the XT does !

How can I upload the speed radars for new BMW Navigator?

My UK dealer has been told not to sell them as there is a common fault? I thought I’d be able to buy after the 4th of November.
They're a bit crap right now. It's November 13th and the promised update still hasn't appeared.
I rang round a few dealers today to place an order, and no dealers said that to me?

Can't find this item for sale anywhere in UK/EU
I picked one up from my local dealer in the UK today

No voice assistant there !
Well that’s a bummer. I’ll stick with the two phone, packtalk evo and cradle setup. Seems like bmw refuses to evolve regarding connections… pitty…😢
In short, can this be used without cellular to navigate? Or does it have to be permanently connected to the mobile network?
Yes without cellular, it is a stand alone unit with downloadable maps.
There is a new update Nr. BMW-CRN-20231113-V1.0.1
It seems that the Vicks’t it😅
Hallo, someone can tell the differences in this new update compared to the 1.0.0?
Thanks
Yes its an improvement, look at my comment about the upgrade in my community tab here on my channel.
