    This is so beautiful, I want to make something like this for my goldfish, Chicken Nugget after winter. I also get a ton of frogs where I live so this would be awesome for them

    A tapering edge is necessary to allow small creatures can access it easily.

    I would love to do this for my garden. I live in Delaware, USA where temps get below freezing in the winter. What would be the winter care for this? Do I need to drain it for winter and start all over in spring? Or is there another way?

      Maybe add aquarium heater?

    I loved the video!
    What to do with it during winter if the water freezes? What happens with the plants and the frogs?

      Maybe create a greenhouse around it?

    Do you need to feed the tadpoles once you put them inside, or is there something already in there that they will eat? This looks like a wonderful project I might try one day! Thanks :)

      Great question! They will naturally eat algae and natural detritus in the pond. But for a new pond you could include some greens like broccoli or lettuce. Just be sure to add too much as it will decompose and stagnate in the pond if not eaten.

    My new barrel pond has suddenly got duckweed in it. I have my hornwort oxygenator in already. Do i need to scoop out the duckweed?

    Absurd to recommend people wait for rain water when they can use a dechlorinating product! Great video otherwise, thanks!

      It’s not so absurd if you live in the UK. We can’t avoid the rain. But yeas that is an option if there is no rain. Thanks Matt!

      Chlorine isn't the only problem in tap water though, depending on where you like it may contain other additives including fluoride that aren't good for aquatic life.

    • @OliHandy2008
      @OliHandy2008 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tap water can be hard and alkali, contain phosphates, nitrates and hormones. Many dechlorinating products create ammonia compounds from the chlorine/chloramine . What you need to do is filter the tap water through carbon and then add a water conditioner (that includes deco)
      - or use rain water from a water butt.
