    Thanks. I was watching loads of pond videos and once I watched yours I got up and did it and now, 10 minutes later I have a pond / birbath in my garden!

    I literally put this on for background noise and now I'm taking apart an old plastic drawer to turn the shelves into ponds in my yard...
    This is a super great idea for recycling old plastic bins that nobody wants anymore and adds a certain unique beauty to your yard...

    I think this is great - shows you don't have to do something on a large scale, even the smallest of ponds work just fine. Greeting from Florida !

    You put a link on about plants for ponds but what is best in the size pond you have made as that is approx the size I am going to make Thank you

      Hi, glad you liked the video - yes the best types of plants for this mini-pond are the free floating oxygenating species, take a look at our page for more information www.wwt.org.uk/discover-wetlands/gardening-for-wetlands/a-guide-to-native-pond-plants/ let us know how you get on!

    Just a quick question, does the water go “bad” at all? And secondly should the water be topped up to keep it level with the rim of the container? I will wait until I have sufficient rainwater and top up if needs be with rainwater. Many thanks 😊

    can you tell us how to sdd a solar water feature please

    • @wwtorguk
      @wwtorguk  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, a small solar water feature would work; you'd just need something sturdy to rest the fountain part on when it is submerged underwater - then a way to keep the cable tidy and weighed-down, attached to the solar panel. Good luck!

    • @wwtorguk
      @wwtorguk  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, try floating a ball on the surface of the pond - the movement will help to keep ice forming. You can also try melting the surface of the ice with warm water.

      @@wwtorguk It is completely frozen, there was a mini boat, but it didn’t help. I'll probably buy a 90 liter container and dig it into the ground, maybe that way it won't freeze to the bottom.

      If the mosquitoes bother you you can add Minnows to eat them , but that could stress out the other creatures in the pond , but if you’re not bothered about them and more concerned fir the newts and such inside the pond don’t be , because the mosquitoe larvae Wont bother them and can even be a good food source .

    I would say the more effort you put into creating a pond, the more wildlife will be attracted to make it their habitat. The gluteus maximus isn't a oxygen plant, the narrator just seem to spend too much time sat on it, & favouring a cracker box as his minimal effort pond liner.

      I think you missed the entire point of this video 🙄.
      This video is to show that you can make a small, but effective wildlife pond in your garden very easily and with minimum time/effort.
      There are loads of other videos for you if you want to make a more substantial wildlife pond.
