I started using your method with my irons in late Spring '24. Wow!. I love the trajectory of my shots. My approach shots are straighter and are sticking on the greens. All my iron shots are better. I swear it. My scores been hovering between 88 to 96 for the past couple of years. Now I'm scoring between 78 to 94. Sure, I still hit some crappy shots, but it's much less now. This past weekend I was ready to commit to using the weight forward method with my Driver. I got a hold of a few good ones, and my buddies told me to go back a tee box. I've been golfing for five years, and the past few months have been pure gold for me. This method works and I am so grateful for your videos. I love it!
That is *AWESOME!!* I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Tom, I've been a fan of your stuff the last year and in the last 2 weeks, I've developed a horrible case of the shanks. To the point where I couldn't hit a golf ball. I watched this video and then went out to the sim and really tried to exaggerate the feeling of keeping that right arm pinned to my side through the whole swing and it worked wonders. This is a key I have always known since watching you and reading Stack and Tilt, but like you said, I think I thought I was tucking it in enough but i must not have. Thanks for keeping golf instruction simple! having one feel or swing thought makes it so much easier and everything just falls into place. PS: you should do a video on fixing shanks!
I'm very glad to know that this lesson clicked with you and helped you to conquer those hosel rockets, Nate - nice job!! Thanks tom. I only started playing just over a year ago and was struggling with ...well...golf. haha. Power was nil and consistency was worse. Your lessons on variable elimination, slinging the right arm and my positioning and now I'm shooting 250 yard drives and I've moved each of my irons along two spots in terms of distance. My PW is going as far as my 9i was going a month ago and it's pretty much all Tom's lesson. If you're new to the game, this man is your bible

@SagutoGolf for sure! I can't wait for better weather (winter golf in the UK is a bit like playing water polo with a golf club) to hopefully watch my 32 handicap come tumbling down thanks to you (and a lot of practice on the sheltered driving range) now that I can consistently put a ball on a green sized spot from within 140 yards
Water polo with a golf club?? 😆😆 Come on, Ken - who's _really_ the hilarious one here?......🙃 Thanks - I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my "lesson and a show" teaching style!! TS
Once again, Tom showing why he’s one of the top online golf instructors on the platform! Heading to the course shortly and I’m excited to put another one of Tom’s tips to work. I still get really “compacted” at contact and my finish is atrocious 😂

Tom, This is your best work yet. I have watched almost all of your videos, back to when you were hitting into your DIY net off of a tiny mat in the back yard, to your mutton chops phase to now. How far you have come and how many golfers you have helped. And now over 360K subscribers! Well done sir, well done.
Saguto, with his common sense approach and upbeat delivery makes all the other guys pretty much obsolete. In his recent videos Tom has been going over these simple keys that pare down the variables in your swing, and they WORK! Now when my swing isn't quite right I can figure out what's wrong and fix it because I have so few variables that CAN go wrong. Thanks Tom!!!

Tom, in trying to get back into the game after 20 years I have developed a severe bout of topping! - just seen this video and went up to the range (cold and windy! - but we play off grass, not mats) tried your advice, predominantly forgetting all the many and varied options of the backswing - so confusing in about 1/10th of a second! So just concentrating on 3 simple parts -------keeping the trail arm in a submissive state (3.36) always reviewing a simple drill presetting of the hand on the club, then ------- keeping this into impact -------- keeping the weight forward I never believed such a basic approach could work - but thanks to you - it does and it all comes from - "keep your arm in" Thanks again, excellent, John, 75, near Brighton UK
That's fantastic, John, and welcome back to this greatest of games! Tom Saguto, PGA PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. they don't listen goose. you are spot on. the only thing i'd say is if amatuers concentrate too much on keeping right arm tucked is stiffness, they get stiff , quick and short.
I appreciate that! But here's the thing: Based on unsolicited feedback received, my lesson series on this "trail arm magic" have helped countless golfers across the globe to overcome a wide variety of swing issues and experience consistently crispy ball striking. Every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact; some sooner than others. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action - at least until they have properly ingrained it. Thanks for your message! Tom Saguto, PGA
Tanks Tom. It seems you start the downswing with your hip then your shoulders. Right? Is it for being more powerful? Is the opposite possible, without risk?
Hi Guy, When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while - and this is key - the head and thus the swing center remains in place.) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help in overcoming this, correctly engaging their hips and fixing their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. In more general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my TH-cam content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thanks, Tom

Hi Simon, The action resembles that of a baseball pitcher with regard to the extrnal rotation of the trail arm and shoulder. I just preset it at address and maintain the established connection points and arm structure throughout the motion without giving much thought to it. If you are looking for stretches/exercises to help with this, then most likely it would involve those elastic bands for building in range of motion, but I defer to professionals in the fitness and physical therapy fields for any specifics in this regard. Best on-course lesson ever 👊🏻 “… that magical shallow Ben Hogan position” In the trees 🌳🙄 … glad to see you’re human, and once in a while hit a not-so-perfect shot (like the rest of us) 😏 Less variables, and KISS it (Keep It Simple S___) 😉 You’re the best, Tom 👍🏻
Thanks, Mike - I'm glad you enjoyed this on-course lesson, and yep - when I'm not playing regularly my tendency is to get a little loose with the trail arm, and invariably it manifests itself on that particular claustrophobic tee shot where there's trouble on both sides...😆 Yes - eliminate variables and build that ball striking machine!! 💪💪 Tom

Tom, I started S&T about 6 months ago. I found I was having trouble making consistent contact. It worked wonders. I got my handicap down to 4.x, but it has jumped up recently. I started hitting shanks. I have been working on my flexibility and strength as well and have improved both - now it "feels" like my body is racing past my arms and leaving the club face open AND my addl flexibility has allowed me to reach out further. Any thoughts? You can probably tell I am treading water here!
Hi Frank, Shanks can be the result of one or more of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep on the downswing and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your downswing path may be too in to out, which more closely resembles the "feel' you are describing; 3) You may be rolling the face open or snatching the club inside with the hands in the takeaway; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) You are not completing your shoulder turn in the backswing; 8) More... What I'm getting at is that there are a number of potential causes, and without actually seeing your swing it's impossible for me to identify the culprit behind those hosel rockets. FYI, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. @@SagutoGolf Tom - thanks for the quick response. I went to the range and decrease the in to out a bit and it worked wonders. Hi Nicolas, In general, once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. As for hand position, it remains consistent - even with the inside of your lead thigh - no matter which club you are hitting. Additionally, the lead arm and club shaft should form a straight line from the face-on view, giving your setup a lowercase "y" look. And while there is certainly content on my channel that touches on this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks, Tom Saguto, PGA
What always made me wonder, is what you're supposed to be feeling the moment you hit the top of the backswing. Like what comes next... I end up feeling as though I'm moving my weight onto my lead leg and trying to turn through the swing, but it's always a flailing mess. Do I feel like I'm jumping? just turning my shoulders (and the arms/hands go along for the ride)? twisting my hips? I just don't have the right kinematic chain to unfold the power and end up with just my hands being thrown at the ball.
I do understand what you are saying, as a vast majority of amatuer golfers struggle to overcome the "hit" instinct that tends to take over at the top. There are two things at play in this specific regard: 1) Discovering and dialing in our ideal swing tempo, and 2) Feeling that transition - or the change in direction - so we don't rush our downswing from the top and thereby lose our sequencing (a very common affliction within the amateur golfing realm). Our perfect tempo/rhythm - which is unique to each of us individually - enables us to gather and unload the various components in proper order for seemingly effortless, powerful ball striking bliss. Executing a full shoulder turn is a key component for accomplishing this, since an abbreviated motion lacks both rhythm and a natural stopping point and thereby encourages that instinctive action to take over. And while I certainly have content that addresses your issue, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA
Hi Freddie, First I preset the orientation of my trail arm as demonstrated: elbow tucked in and pointing toward the trail hip, palm of the hand facing skyward, and triceps pressed against the side of the ribcage. From there, I simply rotate the forearm targetward while keeping the orientations and connection intact. This places the trail hand on top of the lead hand, with the "V" between the thumb and forefinger pointing somewhere in the area of my trail eye and ear. I hope that aids in your understanding! Actually, Jonathan, I hit a variety of clubs in this episode - long and short. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. Unless you have the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast, there is likely a breakdown in your connections and structure. Provided the golfer establishes the critical connection points and structure at setup and has a foundation that facilitates a centered, free flowing motion, the key is to get to - but not go beyond - our body's natural stopping point. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur: 1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift 2) the wrists will break down 3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side 4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball 5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury 8) Inconsistent contact and ball flight There is no need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. Instead, we are eliminating the variables that come from being too long, loose and disconnected, and in doing so we are constructing a ball striking machine. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Beyond that and the step by step, position by position learning platform of the online school, I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. Hi Mike, There is leeway with regard to the lead elbow, and I have actually taught both the "Hogan elbow" pointing toward the hip and the "DeChambeau elbow" pointing towards the target. I have found the lead elbow orientation to be more amatter of personal preference and performance, whereas every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact. Tom Saguto, PGA PS: Would you like to learn some key aspects of the body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system I teach in a more structured manner? Mr. Saguto- the part I'm struggling to wrap my head around is your club face looks like it's WIDE open at the top, and even still as your hands return to about hip-high. I really want to try this out, but as someone who fights a slice, I'm worried that keeping my right arm tucked is only going to exasperate that problem for me. Yet, all of the shots that I see in this video move right-to-left. What are you doing to get the clubface back to square at impact?
If you pause the video at the top of any of my backswings, you will observe that the clubface matches the angle of my lead arm. This means that it has remained square and is neither open (clubface more perpendicular to the ground) nor closed (clubface pointing more skyward). Combine this face condition with a proper in-to-out path and the result is a beautiful, powerful push-draw. Ideally, we should simply "allow" the hand and wrist actions to happen without forcing anything. In other words, if we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper wrist and hand action - will then naturally load and fire _with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary,_ thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. We are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks, Tom Saguto, PGA

"Tucked in elbow" isn't a "theory", it's a geometrical certainty, proven to control contact and essential for delivering a powerful punch to the ball. The point of Roger's video is that you don't "just fold the arm". His point is that you use the shoulder to move the tucked in arm. If you watched his video you would recall the part 3 minutes in where he says "the elbow should be completely bent here". I don't see where he says to keep elbow OUT - that's nonsense!

Hi Jack, The level of detail you seek is best found in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school, and it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. That's where - in addition to focused lessons and drills that take you through the entire motion step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying and resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise as well as all my short game instruction, plus advanced level courses and much more. Every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact; some sooner than others. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action - at least until they have properly ingrained it. In fact, unsolicited feedback confirms that my lesson series on this "trail arm magic" has helped countless golfers across the globe to overcome wide variety of issues and experience crispy ball striking and explosive, effortless power. ANd while there is certainly content on my channel that addresses this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

You already had a super long video about talking tucking in your elbows like Hogan. Why are you just repeating it here? I mean it’s a great freaking tip, but are you running out of new material? Serious question.
Wait. What?? So someone named chezchezchezchez is getting on me about repeating stuff???......😆😆😆 Serious answer: My lesson series on this "trail arm magic" has helped countless golfers across the globe to overcome wide variety of issues and experience great ball striking. As such, it makes total sense to repeat the message, convey it in multiple ways so it resonates with the broadest audience, and yes - demonstrate it in course conditions and even show what happens when that critical connection is lost. I have plenty of material. The "problem" - if you wish to call it that - is that this body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system can truly be simplified to the point that if we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper wrist and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. In other words, we are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized., with consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power being the result. Sorry, I suppose, but if you want to overcomplicate things by taxing brain and body with multiple mechanical swing thoughts then you're going to have to look elsewhere....😎 Otherwise, here is a link to my recently updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal instruction method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Preach on Tom. I always seem to pick up something new that I have not noticed in prior videos. What course are you playing?…noticed the “R” on the tee block. Like the new look. You could be the double for Benedict Cumberbatch in the new Dr.Strange movie. 😊
Thanks so much for your support in sharing your *_DRAMATIC_* improvement and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪

I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction.
Yes - this is all about ridding ourselves of those swing-wrecking variables that have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of endless frustration, and in doing so we are then able to construct a reliable, powerful, low-maintenance ball striking machine. And based on your comment, it sounds as though your "machine" is dialed in and being optimized! 💪💪

Tom, in trying to get back into the game after 20 years I have developed a severe bout of topping! - just seen this video and went up to the range (cold and windy! - but we play off grass, not mats) tried your advice, predominantly
forgetting all the many and varied options of the backswing - so confusing in about 1/10th of a second!
So just concentrating on 3 simple parts
-------keeping the trail arm in a submissive state (3.36) always reviewing a simple drill presetting of the hand on the club, then
------- keeping this into impact
-------- keeping the weight forward
I never believed such a basic approach could work - but thanks to you - it does and it all comes from - "keep your arm in"
Thanks again, excellent, John, 75, near Brighton UK
That's fantastic, John, and welcome back to this greatest of games!

One does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

Yes - It would be the same for wedges. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. they don't listen goose. you are spot on. the only thing i'd say is if amatuers concentrate too much on keeping right arm tucked is stiffness, they get stiff , quick and short.

Every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact; some sooner than others. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action - at least until they have properly ingrained it.

@@SagutoGolf another W
Tanks Tom. It seems you start the downswing with your hip then your shoulders. Right? Is it for being more powerful? Is the opposite possible, without risk?
Hi Guy,
When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost.
Thanks,
Tom

Tom, quick question, are there exercises / stretches you recommend to get / keep your right arm tucked in fit?
Hi Simon,
The action resembles that of a baseball pitcher with regard to the extrnal rotation of the trail arm and shoulder.

Hi Frank,
Shanks can be the result of one or more of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep on the downswing and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your downswing path may be too in to out, which more closely resembles the "feel' you are describing; 3) You may be rolling the face open or snatching the club inside with the hands in the takeaway; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) You are not completing your shoulder turn in the backswing; 8) More...
So are the shoulders leading the hips or is it the other way around? Thanks

What are the set up differences from irons, to woods, to driver?
Hi Nicolas,
In general, once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs).
And while there is certainly content on my channel that touches on this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

And while I certainly have content that addresses your issue, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

@@SagutoGolf I'll be diving into that immediately. Thank you, Tom. As always, great content!
When you say to turn the right hand up and then grip, what does the grip look like then?
Hi Freddie,
First I preset the orientation of my trail arm as demonstrated: elbow tucked in and pointing toward the trail hip, palm of the hand facing skyward, and triceps pressed against the side of the ribcage. From there, I simply rotate the forearm targetward while keeping the orientations and connection intact. This places the trail hand on top of the lead hand, with the "V" between the thumb and forefinger pointing somewhere in the area of my trail eye and ear.
I hope that aids in your understanding!

You indicate a couple of times that the advice in this video is for long clubs. What would be different about shorter clubs (7 iron or less)?
Actually, Jonathan, I hit a variety of clubs in this episode - long and short. My backswing goes back too far. How do I keep from over rotating past parallel.
I am doing my best to keep my right elbow tucked in.
This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
2) the wrists will break down
3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
8) Inconsistent contact and ball flight
There is no need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues.
While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
Beyond that and the step by step, position by position learning platform of the online school, I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. Where is the lead elbow pointing? Does it point to hips or out towards target?
Hi Mike,
There is leeway with regard to the lead elbow, and I have actually taught both the "Hogan elbow" pointing toward the hip and the "DeChambeau elbow" pointing towards the target. I have found the lead elbow orientation to be more amatter of personal preference and performance, whereas every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact.

If so, then here is a link to my recently updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal instruction method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

Tom is that stack and tilt ur teaching?
Indeed it is, Joe! I am both a Class A PGA Professional and a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. Here is the story of my "conversion": th-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/w-d-xo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: th-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/w-d-xo.html
This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, and as a result thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives through my online school's step-by-step lessons and drills, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews.

Ah yes... The dark side of golf. Evil swing sorcery. The cult that is quietly, surreptitiously gathering lost swings from the vast purgatorial abyss of failed "conventional" instruction and leading them to the way and the truth of a method rooted in the unchanging principles of physics and geometry. Creating heinously horrifying creatures of repeatability, predictable ball flight, and effortless power. Like a hideous and unstoppable amoeba slowly yet steadily consuming the golfing globe. Resistance is futile; they will be assimilated. Mwahahaha.....Mwahahahaha.....😆😆

Roger King golf debunks the tucked elbow theory, very well, tucked elbow makes no sense now
"Tucked in elbow" isn't a "theory", it's a geometrical certainty, proven to control contact and essential for delivering a powerful punch to the ball.
I just realized you are a stack and tilt guy.

Hi Jack,
The level of detail you seek is best found in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school, and it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. That's where - in addition to focused lessons and drills that take you through the entire motion step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying and resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise as well as all my short game instruction, plus advanced level courses and much more. If you are not flexible, you tell people to tuck it in. But what if you are really flexible?
Every great ball striker gets that tucked trail elbow condition at some point prior to impact; some sooner than others. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action - at least until they have properly ingrained it. In fact, unsolicited feedback confirms that my lesson series on this "trail arm magic" has helped countless golfers across the globe to overcome wide variety of issues and experience crispy ball striking and explosive, effortless power.

You already had a super long video about talking tucking in your elbows like Hogan. Why are you just repeating it here? I mean it’s a great freaking tip, but are you running out of new material? Serious question.
Wait. What?? So someone named chezchezchezchez is getting on me about repeating stuff???......😆😆😆
Serious answer: My lesson series on this "trail arm magic" has helped countless golfers across the globe to overcome wide variety of issues and experience great ball striking.
Sorry, I suppose, but if you want to overcomplicate things by taxing brain and body with multiple mechanical swing thoughts then you're going to have to look elsewhere....😎
