    Great stuff, and so clearly presented!
    One other option that's worth keeping in mind - the "cheat code" for a one-stroke drop out of the bunker... stroke-and-distance! It can be especially useful after a short approach, or even a chip, that's been mis-hit into a diabolical greenside bunker. In this case, for just ONE stroke, you can come back out and try again from the spot you just played from. It can be a good lifeline in that type of situation.
    Did this on Bethpage Black #18 on a day when bunkers were a major weak point (hadn't watched your bunker videos yet. Now I love bunker shots.). Great drive on the last hole, the kind that keeps you coming back for more. Pulled a wedge hard into a deep left bunker. Let out a big "NOPE" and dropped another one down to use that one-stroke, stroke-and-distance option.

    Excellent Video. You provided great clarity as to how to proceed when you need a ruling in a bunker. In particular, the loose impediment information was excellent. There will always be a playing partner that will argue you can’t move that rock or leaf but you sure can! Keep up the great work and look forward to more of your content. Cheers!

    As a handicap player, it helps a lot to know all the options for relief because bad shots are simply a big part of my game. When playing a while ago, one of my friends hit into a bunker and we noticed that there was no rake. He said that if there's no rake, the area is treated differently in the rules. I'd never heard of that! Can you clarify?

    The other case for bunkers is when the bunkers become temporary water. With all of our rain this year, our bunkers were basically ponds, so many times we were dropping out of the bunker in the nearest point of complete relief.

    what's your thoughts about the rake in the bunker incident? i feel if the rake was not in the bunker the ball would not be where it is, therefore place the ball where it was and if it roils down to the Centre , then so be it.

    • @hannahholdengolf
      @hannahholdengolf  12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Good question! Everyone has different opinions. I think if it is outside the bunker it can stop the ball going in which is unfair. It should ideally be in the flat part in the middle of the bunker so you have a chance for the ball to roll down to the flat .

    You talk about taking relief in the bunker under the unplayable ball rule and explain you are allowed 1 club length when taking lateral relief. I’m sure when taking lateral unplayable you are allowed 2 club lengths. Liking the content, just need to tighten up on the correct club length options so players new to the game are given the correct information.

      @ Hi Hannah, thanks for your reply. Not sure I fully understand what you mean by “1 if you are going back on line” Lateral relief for unplayable ball is 2 club lengths in any direction, no nearer the hole of course. If you are taking Back on Line relief you can go back as far as you like inside the bunker for 1SP or outside the bunker for 2SP but you must drop on the line you don’t get 1CL either side of that line anymore.

      @@LionelMessi-ct7tuSo I’m looking at the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf that I got from the USGA and R&A, which has all the clarifications, diagrams and everything you can think of. I found Diagram 19.3 on page 263 which shows 4 relief options for an unplayable ball in a bunker. They are for 1 penalty stroke for stroke and distance, 1 penalty stroke for back of the line relief within the bunker, 1 penalty stroke for lateral relief within the bunker, and 2 penalty strokes for back of the line relief outside the bunker.

    • @LionelMessi-ct7tu

      @ Thanks for that Mike, I fully understand that particular rule. My question is, if I’m in an unplayable lie in a bunker can I not take relief under another rule, i.e. the stroke and distance rule whereby I would only be penalised one shot. Hannah has advised that I must play by the bunker rule. I’m willing to accept that but the point I think I’m trying to make is that the rule book doesn’t specifically say “I can’t use the stroke and distance rule”. Thankfully I’ve managed to get to a 2.4 index without having to
      break this rule! Happy golfing.
