I would have liked to see more detail on your install of the piston into the cylinder and then attaching it to the connecting rod. Skipped right over that important part. Overall excellent video though. Thanks buddy
Disassembly -Take off all panels/gas tank -Drain carb -Take off exhaust/midpipe -Take off throttle cable/carb/boots -Take out the oil -Take out the cooland -Disconnect all breather hoses -Blow out spark plug -Loosen spark plug -Rotate engine -Take off valve cover -Check valve clearance should be 0.15 and 0.20 for exhaust -Take out chain tensioner/check the teeth -Take off all rad hoses -Take out all cam bolts -Make sure there are 4 dowels -Take out cams -Take off nuts and bolts for cylinder and head -Take out head bolts -Pull off head -Take off cylinder -Remove oil jet -Take off piston -Check for crank slack -Disassembly complete
@8:04 I agree %100!!!! You literally were riding a motor that was set on SELF DESTRUCT MODE and saved yourself a bunch of money by identifying the motor burning oil! Could of destroyed everything including the block itself if you wouldn't of caught this early enough. Awesome video bro!
Did you end up getting any dyno results? Interested to see what numbers you're pulling. I got 43/44HP with FCR39, 434 cw kit, stg 2 hot cams and yoshi rs2 (with baffle in, Would read a lil higher if I had it tuned with it out im sure). Im also keen to see what you think of the lectron carb? Could you possibly post a video of its throttle response when blipping and cracking the throttle." Cheers
Literally same issue with my DRZ I just bought. Engine was basically shredded. Soooo now I’m putting in a big bore kit. It’s been an expensive 2 weeks lol
Just bought my first bike a month ago. Head gasket must have blown cause my bike died and was shooting out white smoke with the temp at 230. I might end up with a big bore kit as well. Expensive couple weeks too XD.
Please do a update your crankcase would be full of much pieces of trash from the old cylinder and piston damage it may not be long before the crankshaft and bearings are torn up and the new cylinder and piston. I hope not but good idea to keep track of it. Good luck 👍
@@TURBOTWINKIE Ah! cool. My guess with the additional power you're getting, gearing could be extended a bit. Really wish Suzuki would have given us a 6 speed by now.
@@exothermal.sprocket Yep the bike has plenty of power in 5th gear just revs really high when cruising which is annoying. I may consider changing the gearing
The vlog was good but u guys should have done this more detailed. For a beginner someone like me it was hard to catch up and understand. But for an experienced guy its okay. thanks anyways.

Not true about needing aftermarket exhaust. Stock is better because of some back pressure. Did you re use head bolts? They are 1 time use only. And what happened to running in piston and cylinder? 500 miles

Why on earth people are trying to soup up a drz is beyond me.you can put big bores,cams carburetor, exhaust, and all kinds of "racing" crap on it and it'll still be a 300 and something pound drz.besides going to a 38 tooth rear sprocket mine is completely stock.i change the oil every thousand miles or so and ride on.14,000 miles and the valves haven't moved.it doesn't tick or clack or knock,has original timing chain etc.although I did cut about 3/4 of an inch off the acct spring right after I got it.if and when it wears out I'll get a new head and piston and rings from Suzuki and ride some more.never opened up the motor for "locktite fixes"or any of the other " must do" crap I've heard about.if it ain't broke don't fix it is my philosophy and so far it's served me well with my drz.i think some people just can't leave well enough alone and those are the ones constantly working on their bike instead of riding.if you want to go fast get anything but a drz.if you want a good all around reliable bike that gets good gas mileage and is easy to handle get a drz.I really don't see any middle ground.Mines a 2016 sm with Avon trail riders by the way.good tires but they weigh a ton and I won't be putting another set of them on there.just my opinion.
