When the Ottomans took control of Constantinople the city was basically regarded as the Second Rome, since it had been under the control of the Byzantines since the Roman Empire fell. The Ottomans after taking over Constantinople declared themselves the "true" successor to Rome. It was not true at all of course, but it was a political move to gain more prestige. 2.) Napoleon actually fought a losing battle in Russia from the start, the Russians employed the scorched earth tactic during his invasion in which his soldiers starved. The counteroffensive in the winter only cemented his defeat. 3.) Germany had plenty of time before the winter to defeat the Russians. The invasion started in June for god's sake. Winter wasn't the only factor that helped the Russians win however, Germany suffered overextension, little supply of oil which burned through in the initial days of the invasion as well as ill-prepared soldiers. I believe that modern Russia is a speck of dust on a fine dress that is the new civilized global community, but making up things to win an argument is so dumb it's actually pitiful that you'd stoop this low.
