    Greetings from Pennsylvania, USA. This is an excellent video. Thank you so much. I’m 63 and vegan for 8 years. I really appreciate videos like yours. Thank you, again. ❤️

      Hi Roz, you're very welcome! My dad's side of the family is from Pittsburgh; I spent some time in Shadyside as a child :)

    I have to say (while my jaw gently drops) that only 4 minutes into this and already you have alluded to some creations that I really fancy. I would never (once) have thought of myself as 'Vegan' or even Vegetarian but...times change and so does our thinking. Especially when money is tight. As you go through your staples all I see is the same I always (nowadays) have in my cupboards. So this is exciting for me. My meat eating days are just a fond memory (teeth get old) and most of my time in the kitchen is spent in trying to ruin some perfectly innocent assortment of pulses and veg. I always manage to keep a well stocked spice and flavourings cupboard and even use a mortar and pestle for grinding whatever good stuff needs grinding. I feel very strongly that I am going to enjoy your content ( 🙂 ) very much. So... back to your video. I can't wait for what's coming next. L/S

    Thanks for the video. I had no idea they made brown rice noodles. After I did a search, I found a company that makes black rice noodles. Thank you again, because I have been wanting some black rice noodles for a long time, 😆

      Oh nice!! Fun fact; unless the packaging states "rice" noodles, they're actually made from mung bean starch! I did mention it in the video, but I had to get brutal when editing, and I ended up cutting that part out

    Having watched this in its entirety I applaud your breakdown of 'must haves'. Very happy to see that MSG got a special mention, with the necessary aside from you pertaining to the racism around this product. I enjoy 'Uncle Roger' on YT and tried MSG for the first time. So now I use it frequently and really enjoy the extra flavour it brings. Just a thought here... many herbs and spices can be bought much cheaper from Halal stores and butchers. They usually come in 100g resealable bags which are much better value than the piddling portions in a jar from your local 'big name' supermarket.
    I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to your kitchen and I look forward to revisiting. Thank you.

      I buy my herbs and spices in "bulk" and fill up the glass jars, from Chinese/Indian supermarkets and ebay. You're right, it's such better value. By that point of filming, I was delirious with exhaustion, so I tried to get through it as rapidly as possible 😂

    This video was very interesting. I have never heard of Pasta chips or Sago pearls for a dish before. A must-try!

    I love corn pasta but in the UK it costs quite a bit and often not even in normal sized boxes. When I cook it I cook and eat 500g for the meal. I’ve seen boxes with 350/400g and for like £3. I’ve looked online to see if I can get it in bulk and cheaper but I can’t find it. I spend quite a bit on food (less than animal product days) but I can’t stomach paying that for a box of pasta. 😂

      Bananas isn't it?! I've just looked for the one I buy at Sainsbury's but it's not appearing on the website. I'm sure that used to be under £2, so maybe keep an eye to see if it's ever on promotion? I may give it a go one day, see if I can make it myself

    Fava beans in the tin are so much better tasting than the dried Fava beans (broad). The skin is definitely tight every single time I’ve made them from dried

    Can you suggest some low or no carb pasta. I love pasta but really trying to watch the carbs. Thanks

    • @AuntieRachelsChaoticKitchen
      @AuntieRachelsChaoticKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're going to struggle with that, I reckon. Other than things like spiralised courgette (zucchini), you could try konjac noodles. They're decent, but more chewy that say wheat spaghetti. If you're in the UK, a Google search just informed me that Carbzone Low Carb Penne exists. Made from: Isolated soy protein, egg albumin, pea protein, wheat flour, wheat gluten, wheat fibre, stabilizer (guar gum). £5 for a 250g bag though! Perhaps consider limiting wheat pasta to once or twice a month, and have it as a "treat"? Something to enjoy/savour, and then make changes/restrictions in other dishes?

      It's worth having a look on ebay and Amazon for a spiraliser. I paid £10 for mine (you can see it in the Herb Stuffed Tofu video), and it was money well spent, even though I don't use it often. In the supermarket, a bag costs £1.50 - £2
