- First solo fly fishing mission of the year and DAMN does it feel good. I took my stand up paddle board (SUP) out with an eight weight fly rod to try and catch some fish. You'll have to watch to see what I catch!! :)

Isn’t it amazing how on the days that you don’t catch any fish while fly fishing it is still so enjoyable? I started Fly Fishing two years ago and love it so much that I won’t do any other kind of fishing, LOL! I enjoyed your video. 🙂

Nice video. Suggest you may want to keep your rod tip down near the water. Will allow the lure to sink further and better bite detection as less slack line 👍

Allie... You just summarized my entire fly fishing life. I see the fish, they're actively feeding, I'm the only one there, perfect conditions, I got my presentations on point (mostly) and I find myself going through every darned fly in my box and no fish later with maybe 1 strike (which I swear I think the fish just screwed up and really didn't mean to strike at my fly). Then what do I do? Go get more flies, take the pro shops advice on everything and do it again. LOL!! 😁

Allie, the reason your Vibe is more stable than the inflatable is because it's a larger and wider board than the model you had. If you had an inflatable SUP of the same dimensions it would be just as stable. IMO inflatable SUPs are a better way to go if having a lightweight and portable vessel is important. A good 12'x 34" inflatable SUP can do everything a plastic one can do, has the same payload capacity and stability, but is far more portable and weighs only around 25 lbs which is 1/3 the weight of the Vibe Maverick at 72 lbs. I'll never own a heavy plastic SUP again.
Jonathan Dickinson state park is an awesome place to catch snook. You were probably seeing mullet jump, they do it quite often. You need a nice inshore set up 7'6" medium heavy action with a 3-4000 series reel and some topwater plugs or some D.O.A. Cal series plastics on jigheads. Now your talking action. Check out Lawson Lindsey, he's a local that has a good channel.

There is a small (short) paddle that U could use to maneuver the board when fishing with no need of the regular paddle that it becomes difficult because you need to use both hands.....think about it!

Try to cast closer to mangroves. The predators hang under the mangrove to ambush their pray. Just my $.02

@@OutdoorsAllie I agree with Clay, but just accept it right now that you will lose a lot of flies cause you are gonna catch some trees. Heavy-ish tippet will also allow more power when you really want to put the wood to the fish to turn them and keep the fish out of the roots. Good luck.

You mentioned that this SUP was far more stable than your inflatable. Are they the same size? I’m asking because I’m looking at a model that’s set up for fishing and the mfg makes both versions of the same model.
The new one is longer. Maybe a little wider as well. Its a Vibe.
That Deceiver is more like a lure than a fly.-to me anyway. Ahhhh what do I know. LOL Just my thoughts.
