- The hunt continues in Pennsylvania! In this video I hit public land in my hunting saddle to try and notch my archery buck tag. Bowhunting this year has been TOUGH. There are a lot of does on the move, except, I already filled my doe tag. Good thing the rut is heating up!

Great vid as usual . I took a lot of my doe from this year and made pemmican . Sourced grass fed beef suet and rendered, then dehydrated the meat and mixed together . Shelf stable no fridge for 25 years.
The way you respect the animals is so beautiful
I also shoot without gloves. Even in Wisconsin even late season. Those Sitka coats have the awesome pockets you can throw two handwarmers behind the webbing and keep your hands toasty. The webbing makes sure the hand warmers don't fall out when you slide hands in and out.

I find the rut for me is the first month of deer season after that it gets harder
I think you’re smart to always mark up your face- I believe in face paint, as someone who’s been stand hunting whitetails for 20+ years, those deer can sometimes see your bright face if you don’t mark it up, imo. Harvested plenty of deer without face paint myself, but I advise anyone to wear it because I also think I’ve spooked deer by moving my unpainted/un ski-masked face/head, and not spooked deer by moving my head when my face WAS all marked up. I think it’s smart lol just my 2 cents!

Acorn crop gigantic here in Kentucky this season. Deer don't have to move to feed. Overall harvest is down. We can bait on private and deer were not coming to corn piles for many hunters that depend on bait to draw them in. Muzzleloader just ended. Archery and crossbow in for about 25 more days.

Any time my bow goes into a vehicle, I do test shots on a portable target just to be sure and adjust as necessary. Cause sh!t can happen anytime.

I like thiner gloves and hand warmers in my pockets an put my release in my right pocket with the hand warmer kinda wrapped around it gives me a solid 1 or 2 minutes of heat transfer But it also depends on how i'm set up Sometimes That one little extra step of having to put the release on the bow is enough to mess it up

Allie. Didn’t mean to trash you on Florida whitetails. You just have such a great spot in PA. We all hunt Lycoming County PA for rifle. Archery season is 5 months for us here in Jersey with no bag limits on does which is wild. Believe it or not, whole lotta deer and black bears in Jersey !!!

I did notice one detail in your setup that surprised me. Greg, before Tetherd, said in a video, when attaching your carabiner “click down so you don’t screw up”. I think your tether carabiner may have been upside down. 🤔

That’s crazy how much the glove makes a difference when shooting your bow 😮 would the shot have been a kill shot? yes, but if you were aiming for the black then might as well suffer cold hands so you get a perfect shot 👍🏻 I’m a new viewer and a new hunter so I have got a lot to learn.

I hunted as hard as I could this year. I saw 7 great bucks all in someone else's truck and one doe on the way home late at night. That's it. Maine's not a deer behind every tree state
I hunt the mountains in N.W. Maine where the deer are very scarce

Deer in that wind r @ a huge disadvantage. I will be shooting a glove in January in a 3D Archery League. I have a different glove for my grip & a little lighter glove for the thumb release. Something I've been doing for years. I was shooting with gloves in a 🌳 on my 3D Archery range Labor Day weekend when it was 87*. U never know what u can do until u test yourself. By the way, I have a 3D range just east of my 🏡. It's only setup to shoot from a 🌳. In the summer u would have a hard time seeing one target & there r 4. The last Saturday night of October a buck broke through my fence & headed for the range. My targets all looked like a doe to him. He mounted 3 of them & bent them. One lost the head. Only time will tell if I need more. He knocked my neighbors mailbox off the post twice & bent the wood post on mine. I have an 8 foot tall gate nearby that is 16 feet long & steel. As usual love the videos. Hope you end up filling the buck tag. I will say at least this year the evening hunts during the rut werent nearly as good as the morning hunts. IMO it all had to do with temperature

I had the same issue with the face mask when I was younger, I don’t use a peep or anything on my string, my anchor is based solely on my knuckle touching a spot on my jaw bone but since that happened I got a bowmar nose button so now I have a reference point even with gloves or a face mask on I can touch it to tip of my nose in same spot and I know everything else is in line even if I’m too cold to feel it. I’d suggest a nose button or even a piece of serving tied to touch your nose but it changed the game for me during cold weather and bundling up during archery

Just a non hunting question. My camp has the same wood as yours. Do you treat the wood and spray it and if so what do you use?
Yes, we sprayed it last year. I can't remember the name of the product though.
I hunted my rear off all season, finally shot a rugged mountain 8 the last day of rifle, dragged it out of the mountain, only to have it test positive for cwd :(

Hey Alie, I am interested in getting into saddle hunting. (Mostly from watching your videos and learning what to use. I like your set up) Anyhow, I see that you and Nick hunted from the ground this firearm season. Can you use the saddle to hunt with a rifle!?? If not, why?
Yes, absolutely! Nick likes doing that. I just prefer the ground (especially on public land) because I move around a lot!

im really annoyed that these pant companies include the belt or string. I may like the pant but i want to use my belt that i know works and im used to. I don't want a magnet that comes undone. i want a button that is sewn in and will with stand my fat ass and not some cheap sewing string. I love having my cargo pants for work in the environment i work at. i may need 2 hats, a leather glove and some warm winter gloves that are warm but not meant for abuse. These pants are for office boys. How am i suppose to fit my phone, and a needle nose plyers for pulling out hooks in fish on the banks of south dakota. Those need nose will poke a hole in a waist pocket. how am i suppose to carry a whisk broom, pencil, inspection mirror in a hip pocket.

The introduction of crossbows to archery season wasn't motivated by improving the sport. While certain individuals, like those with age or disabilities, may need crossbows, their inclusion is mainly influenced by companies that paid lobbyists to promote their agenda.
