I just removed an abusive comment on this video, but I did want to follow up on one point the user made: ghibli, the Italian word meaning 'hot desert wind,' is indeed pronounced with a hard 'g' sound. However, the animation studio, whose name is derived from the Italian word, is pronounced with a soft 'g' sound. But you don't have to take my word for it: watch literally any video interview where someone who works for the company refers to their employer. All of them, to a one, pronounces is with a soft g. The more you know!

I don't got the GKIDS version, I got versions from Europe and Japan, I've been collecting since many years ago. By the way, I love the way you explain each movie and I could notice you love them so much...❤ :)
I hope you can make an updated remake of your Ghibli Collection videos. Especially if you can find more bonus discs and the Totoro + Fireflies double feature set.
I do have that set, as well as all three boxed sets. Alas I have two jobs and two kids. Not sure when I could make that video. I’ll shout you out if I do :-)
great collection- i too tweak my vids for sub/dubs where pos (dubbed fox version to totoro blu-ray and alternative eng for kiki) got most films (changed up for blu-ray) and tons of serials- some of which have not even subs even fan ones! never headache free...

Very informative video, thank you. I have Disney's version of the Miyazaki blu ray box, but I've been pretty torn when it comes to getting the Takahata box. So Anne and Gauche both have english subtitles in this release? Meaning that if I bought this box set and then got the Discotek Media blu ray releases of both Horus and Panda Go Panda, then the only Takahata film I that I would have without subtitles for would be Chie, right? Thanks for the help!

Hey there! I'm so sorry I never responded to this. I have multiple TH-cam channels I use for work so I'm rarely logged into this account and never got a notification you commented. The box set version has subtitles; the individual release does not (unless they've re-released the individual disc with subtitles, but I don't think they have.) Hope that's helpful!
Ah ok thanks, I didn't realize it has a slip cover. I don't actually own it I was just looking through amazon japan and CD japan which shows it without the slip cover. You have a fantastic Ghibli collection by the way. You must have put a lot of time and money into it.

I was wondering where did you get that copy of "A kingdom of dreams and madness"? It doesn't look like the standard japanese blu ray version?
It's definitely just the standard Japanese release. It's got a slipcover, though - maybe the version you have is missing that?
