Finally, someone who understands and includes practical and pragmatic EDC contents that aren't supposed to be useful in case of nuclear EMP or stranded on a back road in the winter. I am always looking for similar surprise items that can be handy. I am not looking for BOB or GHB content. Kudos on explaining what an EVERY DAY carry bag should contain.

Yeah I appreciate the realistic content too. I have a bag I keep in my car to get me or a friend out of small mechanical problems. Mine is similar to this but I got some good ideas for additions from this video. Refreshing to get a useful practical edc bag video

Bro, part of the reason I love your channel is because most of your stuff is practical. EDC isn't always about SHTF (although that has its purpose). Sometimes its nice to see things I can actually use EVERYDAY. Great job brother.

I work as an industrial mechanic. I like knipex water pump pliers. They come in different sizes and the ones I use alot are their 5inch model. The best part is they lock in place, and made in Germany. They are so good I bought them in different sizes because nothing compares to them. They also have an adjustable wrench that would take up less space.
Thanks for showing us what you have.

    • @PhiTonics
      @PhiTonics 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Second this, I find them more usefull in a wider range of tasks than a strictly adjustable wrench. 👍

For nuts etc a 125 mm knipex Plierwrench , and Cobra ( 125 mm , approx 5” ) . For anything electrical , an NCV detector ( Klein ) , which has an LDM . Also Wago 221 levernuts ( 2 , 3 , and 5 conductor iterations .

The MUT is a beast. My son gave me one a couple of Christmases ago. Incidentally he just retired from the Corps two weeks ago. After viewing your video it dawned on me with all the go bags I have I don’t have a set up like this. I will be making one this weekend. God bless you and all those who have or are serving.

I carry my multi tool when I’m out and about. But I have a small tool set in my house, both vehicles, and then my main tools in my garage. I do tend to carry my knipex 7” pliers wrench, mostly bc I put it in my back pocket and forget about it. 15 years of maintenance habits haha

Good assortment of tools. I keep a similar set of tools in my truck. Can't help thinking that tools are only half the story. The other half is a set of hardware, e.g., assorted screws, nuts, washers, cotter pins, heat shrink tubing, etc. You could fit a small roll of steel baling wire (3 ft or more) to tie up a falling muffler or car grille, bumper, or other temporary fix. Thanks for the video.

I really like the idea of bringing tools to friends houses, just in case. I keep my empty tool pouch, with all the tools for it, in a tool roll, in my trunk. That way I can grab just the tool roll, or load up the pouch, and be like “ok … you got a circle saw”? let’s do this! lol

My kit is very similar. I like the flashlight and note pad. I’ll have to add those. I don’t carry a bit driver since I have Phillips & flat head on the multitool. Hammer is always tricky for these little kits. By their nature, they’re long and bulky. The MSR Stake Hammer solves the bulk, but non the length.

Thank you for your service. I was with the 82nd Airborne and trained with the Marines at Camp Onofree (not sure on the spelling), in California. I have the fatty also, your bag seems more tool oriented mine is more generic. I have a small bic lighter and a thing of chapstick which I have a gorilla tape wrapped around for whatever needs. The chapstick can be used as a fire starter and in a jam you can use it to lubricant squeaky hinges and desk drawers that stick, etc…. Since you have the Leatherman seems like you could ditch the needle nose. I also carry a length of paracord, like tape, you can never go wrong with it. Great channel!

I have 2 tool kit bags that are virtually exactly the same as yours (different brands though obviously). I have one of the kits in the car and the other in the cabinet next to our home 1st Aid/Trauma kit. Don't really EDC it as it's overkill, but having one in the car means it's usually close at hand.
For EDC I have my Leatherman Signal with the add-on bit kit and driver which covers 95% of my daily/regular tool needs along with my Gerber Armbar.
The Signal recently became my full time EDC multitool, but I still have Rebars, Sidekicks and Revs in all my various kits and bags and the family's emergency bags.
I have 4 of those Prybrids, they're awesome.

I have a few different mini kits and a plain larger mechanic's tool kit in a smaller tool bag..socket set, combination wrench set, a 6 in 1 screwdriver, an electrical tool kit and a couple a meters...(a VOM, a car battery tester, an obd 2 tool...) a small air compressor various channelock pliers, vise grips and lineman pliers. This I keep in the vehicle, obviously.

In place of the pouch i cut some velcro cable ties to length and stuck them head to toe alternating rows (like sharing a bed as a kid) on the velcro spot, 2 layers thick.

I'd probably swap the slip joint plyers for a some plumbing slip joint offset plyers, for plumbing tasks, wider jaws than anything you currently have.
I might go with a 6in1 or 12in1 screwdriver, probably an electricians screwdriver, and ditch some spair bits, use the ones on the screwdriver.
Dedicated prybar, mini one, but larger than yours, and ditch the little knife bar combo, use the knife on the Leatherman instead, or Gerber's pocket box cutter with full size replaceable blade, and keep extras, a fresh box cutter blade is hard to beat for some jobs.
I might ditch the needle nose for the Leathermans plyers, and I might swap the adjustable wrench for a knipex, but maybe not, depends on what you do, I find it gets the job done better most of the time than a regular adjustable.
    Zip ties, electrical tape. 😉
    Great kit sir, very practical.

I use the same pouch. You got everything covered other than a lighter and maybe some duct tape. I have a Leatherman surge and a Leatherman crunch in there. Replaces alot of the individual items you have but also adds redundancy between the two which will lighten up the pack a bit. You wouldn't need the needle nose, vise grips and/or the crescent wrench if you just got the Leatherman crunch and kept your MUT in there. That being said, they ain't cheap.

Nice assortment of multi and single-purpose tools. At the 9:28 mark, I like that flashlight (Lumen-Top). I would strongly suggest using a litihum AA battery. Probably can squeeze in:
    zip ties
    super glue
small roll of duct and/or electrical tape
    shrink tube
    A few electrical connectors
    Bic mini lighter.

Maxpedition is awesome. I have several of their pouches and a few back packs. They make good grayman style back packs

, wire saw, gorilla tape, tube o super glue, machinist wire, the multi tool is freakin cool but I rly prefer the leatherman super tool mostly for the saw and file. Couple of nails/screws .a hose clamp. Lighter . Ranger bands were good , Topek mini ratchet functions as bit driver and to pair with it a universal socket , sharpie ! , I would lose the needle nose and the slip joint pliers and replace w/ the knipix and keep the crecent .small wad of sand paper .6 in ruler/straight edge ,syringe of jb weld . Back th large compartment with flattened thin wall pvc .small length of rubber or gasket to be used i with th hose clamp for leaking pipe/radiator hose bandaid. Small length of wire w/ a couple terminal connection for small wire repairs. Cloths pins .Stanley 6 in pry bar .allosun multimeter.pice of hacksaw blade.
    … just ideas 🤔

Great information in this video. Thank you for sharing your kit. I would add a little bubble level to the kit.

Great video! I have been adjusting and upgrading my bag like this for years and you gave me some new ideas to use. Also I am not much of a Gerber fan, however love the utility tool 😎

Switch out the adjustable wrench and slip joint for just 1 knipex pliers wrench, less weight and bulk and better gripping power.
A leatherman bit kit could replace most of the drivers and bits. Not as nice to use as a proper driver but would take up so much less space and weight
An extendable magnetic pick up tool is a good addition

I definitely am using the Knipex to whip my kitchen drawer into shape.
