    A lot of the time I watch videos like these to see what kind of stuff other people carry in their vehicles. Makes me feel less crazy lol. My truck always has an axe (or 2), tow straps, booster cables, shovel, lighter, tinder, first aid kit, bumper jack (jackall), socket set, couple knives, multi screwdriver, crescent wrench, pump pliers and a folding saw. Majority of this stuff is there because I’ve needed it at one time or another.
    The one time my wife cleaned out the back of my truck. She took out the bumper jack, axe and shovel. I didn’t know. I went hunting and got stuck. I was there for 5 hrs trying to use a small hand axe and the jack that comes with the truck. After I buried the front end of the truck I had to swallow my pride and call my father in law to pull me out. The next day I got stuck again because I don’t learn. I had all my gear this time. I was out in 5 minutes.

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LOL! Glad I could help you not feel as crazy.
      Oh yeah, it's Murphy's Law, as soon as you don't have "all that gear" is the moment when you will end up needing it. 😅 Funny story by the way. 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @bloodwintertales5984
      @bloodwintertales5984 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s how I feel. I always get called paranoid but I would rather always have it. I do hope I never have to
      Use it but if I do my chances of survival or even just getting out of whatever stupid predicament I put myself into go up. But I am getting new piece of kit for my car. In my trunk I have everything from medical/Survival and gear to fix my car. I still have a ton of room for just everyday things like groceries. I’m making sure to pack what I need and what will give me better odds. But I’m adding a Henry AR-7 to the car as I travel nearly 1000 miles twice a year to visit family back In Iowa. I’ve been on the route multiple times and never had issue when riding with my family but if I do get into a issue where I can’t fix my car or can’t stay with my car I have gear to keep my survival rate up. Plus a .22LR take down is also comforting to know you have something that can help you in a bad situation whether it’s sending yourself or having to hump it in the wilderness

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bloodwintertales5984 Exactly! I get it very often, you'll notice a bunch of comments saying that I am paranoid or hoping something goes wrong. 😅
      I'd rather have the gear and not need it, than need it and not have it.
      But also, usually the people who call you paranoid know who to go to when they a tool or something else while out and about.

      Happykal11 - If my wife had done that, she would be my ex. You have a good tool kit for realistic truck problems. It wouldn't hurt to add visegrips, duct tape, a file, johnson bar and a fire extinguisher.

    • @happykal11
      @happykal11 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScorpionRegent we had words her and I. She cleaned the mud out of the truck interior so It’s all good. I have an axe file and axe puck I keep on the truck. Never thought of keeping a Johnson bar in the truck. Makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. I stopped carrying duct tape because every time I’d go to use it the heat would turn it into a useless sticky mess. For some reason it never bothered my roll of electrical tape.

    I love the idea of the Pro-Knot cards being thrown in there. Also the Rite-in-the-Rain is something every EDC should have. I suggest to throw a reasonable multi-tool in there, esp. if the thing lives in your car. Also the small things in there are a great EDC addition, like the nail file, the tooth brush or the soap. A hand sanitizer may be a good complement to those.

    That wire saw is a POS in real survival situations. It's heavier but doesn't''t take up too much more room, but a replacement chainsaw blade is pretty awesome for cutting wood. It has holes on each end that you can put sturdy keyrings on and just grab a short piece of branch to put in to grab so it doesn't tear up your hands

    • @FittoSurvive

      I agree with A of G. Those small survival cable saws have a reputation for being unreliable; iffy is unacceptable in a survival situation. Another alternative is to make a handle that will hold Sawzall and/or saber saw blades. Be sure to test it so you know it won't fail.

    I love the pouch setup! Thank you for sharing. Here is a quick tip that might help with that mini fire starter... Firmly post your hand holding the scraper close to the tender and pull the ferro rod back and away from the tender. I find this technique especially useful when using the mini survival ferro rods because you have to be so close to your tender that striking towards always hits the tender. Any time I've tried to do it like you did in this video I find myself using non family friendly words. Hope that helps.

      John Lone - Battery banks with solar panels are a great idea, but they are limited. They take forever to recharge, which is fine if you set them in the sun for long periods of time and only use them occasionally. If the solar panel as the primary source of recharge it should not be packed away, it should be sitting on the dashboard. For everyday use off the grid, a larger separate solar panel is the ticket.

    funny things is-you can exchange a lot of items which are separate with a swiss army knife. However it's a complex and mulitasking set with a lot of pragmatic indications. Personally I would add some patches and super-glue (I've been using super glue as first aid on small wound on hands inceadibly often) Very waluable content.
    Keep on going :)

    I worry about keeping a bag like this in the car because of the summer & winter temps damaging the EDC contents. What do you recommend? In the summer months the inside of a vehicle can reach 100 degrees F and in the winter it can be as low as single digits. Great video! 👍

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the gear will be absolutely ok with the heat and cold. Anything with a battery, like the power bank, could get damaged, any edibles can go bad, and of course I always remove all of my emergency water from the car in winter. But other than those items, the rest will be fine.

    I would choose to make this kit either geared to survival, or geared to car edc. The kit seems 50/50. Which means it's not great and not bad for either situation. I would rather have a kit that's amazing at just car edc. And another that's just survival especially since neither carry a large footprint. But nice vid!
