She is so right about how people become incompetent when everything is provided for free or taken care of,
I worked at a place for 2yrs where they provided everything for almost free (housing, food, alcohol drinks, phonebills , swimming, helath etc .,)
But the wages were very little,
When I got out of that place after 2yrs it was very hard for me to arrange things and felt so incompetent and so dependent, compared to my collegues, but after about an yr I got used to outside world and thriving now.
Social benefits are provided for the needy so that they can use the benefits and come out the situation and help other people in the society who are in need,
Not to make u depend and incompetent for the rest of u r life.

Very good interview. This is type of Professors, Teachers and Vice Chancellors India needs to have who are not political agents to decide the running and future of Universities, but people dedicated and committed to the sector of Education and the future of the children. Hope the Govt. do not interfere in her work to settled their scores with the Left parties and let her run the show of their own and give her proper powers to utilise it. She doesn't look to be a confrontative VC unlike the earlier VCs who were more interested in fulfilling their master's agenda than being the guiding lamp for the students. Glad that a lady is taking the position and responsibility to show the real women power and empowerment. The facists forces have used JNU for their political game and spoiled the name and reputation of the University and those who doesn't value education and illeterate are after JNU to either shut it or get a stronghold on the University as this is a University where student from deprived background can educate themselves and be independent which the powerful doesn't want. With the present trend going on, one might find JNU changed to NMU or HU. Anyway, good luck and best wishes to Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit and may she be successful in getting the JNU back to be one of the best Universities in the country.

A woman, from the South, from a BC and all put in place by the current 'right-wing fascist casteist' dispensation. That single line absolutely killed it. Kudos to this ma'am from my state. JNU will flourish under your guidance.

Indian students must focus on key issues and stop becoming anti-national or Azadi. Public money is wasted on universities. fees should be implemented and the ideology of Dravidian i don't know where it came as I am from the South never heard such stupid ideology.

@Nilesh Seriously, i don't know why south people think that northies don't like them or their language or their culture meanwhile reality is totally opposite we adore south sanatan culture and if given chance we will like to learn south languages but the education infra in north isn't that good so we don't get to learn a lot of languages, and hindi is a language which works everywhere around north so we don't feel the necessity to learn other languages, but that doesn't means we don't like other languages.

@Nilesh This is very saddening, i always wanted to learn about south languages and culture but the superiority complex and hatred of south towards north made me think otherwise.

@@yusofahmed4169 Her Mum is a Tamil Ayengar. Even if her paternal side not Tamil, she only mentioned Tamil culture through out the conversation, and not even once any other culture other than Tamil culture. I believe, whatever culture it is, if it spreads positivity then no harm in embracing it.
