  • In the late 60's and early 70's, reports of a hairy, bipedal "monster" stalking the swamps of Southern Arkansas began to surface. Thought by many to be little more than a fable or folktale, the Boggy Creek Monster has become one of the south's most famous legend. But what does it mean, when a legend leaves behind evidence of its existence?
Small Town Monsters is a film series that explores lost and bizarre history centered on strange creatures and anomalies around the United States. The films are available through Amazon, Vimeo OnDemand and on DVD.

Seems that movie was the entry point for many investigators and enthusiasts. Dinosaurs and sea life were my jam when I was a wee tyke, so it was just a matter of finding the right books to get to the Loch Ness Monster, and eventually Bigfoot-Yeti. So I was aware of those legends when I saw Legend of Boggy Creek on TV maybe 5 years after its theatrical run. But I loved the idea that a creature like that had been seen in the South, to which I was native.

I live in Carthage Tx. I have a lot of strange things I’ve heard but no sighting. My grandparents lived in Doddridge Arkansas which is in Miller county Faulke is 6-7 miles dwn the rd. My Pop had something stay to his side coming out of the woods after hunting one afternoon. He never saw it but was very unnerved by the incident. My mom and aunt use to take us riding the dirt roads of Miller county looking for Bigfoot when I was younger. I want to go and camp out for a weekend on the Sulfer River there. 🤷🏼‍♀️

He said it walked up right like a man and had hair all over it . When he seen it a don't remember him saying . The horses had blinders on them so I assume they smelled it

The creatures from Boggy creek are the same ones that live in Louisiana and the Honey Island Swamp and the Atchafalaya Basin! The creatures here have deformities such as 3 toes on the feet! Not all of them have 3 toes but there are a few! They are also built different from the northern Bigfoot! The southern Bigfoot are more athletically built like small from the waste down and extremely muscular from the waste up! The southern Bigfoot also have a more orangatang look to the face!!! Plus they are much more aggressive than the northern creatures!!! The southern Bigfoot will kill you in a heartbeat!!!! In Louisiana coastal erosion has taken away a lot of their habitat!!! These creatures used to travel all the way to the Gulf of Mexico!!! Between coastal erosion and MAN the creatures have lost a lot of their hunting grounds and places to dwell!!! Now it's very rare to hear about a encounter in southern Louisiana!!!!

Oh Jacky Boy! I'm afraid that Someone needs to break it to you that you DO NOT live in the world you think you do. Not only are their Bigfoot and Dogmen, nasty sons of bitches, but there are a WHOLE LOT of scary cryptids in all the forsts of all the continents except for Antarctica. Not only the "lunatic fringe" believes in these creatures but your very own government acknowledges that they are real. Back in the 1970.s the Army Corp of Engineers that were stationed in the Pacific Northwest were each given a pamphlet listing the species in the area. That INCLUDED a nice large picture of the Big Hairy Man! The First Nations people have an oral history going back centuries and the newspapers printed in small towns and villages all over the New Frontier list sightings, shootings and both positive and negative interactions with the Wild Men. Back then a man worth his salt, not known to much drinking or exaggeration, would be taken at his word if he came into town and told the townsfolk that he saw a Bigfoot while hunting, logging and fishing in the woods. Today is no different, but the sightings are often so fleeting and the interaction so brief, that people don't want to be made fun of or just second guess themselves even though they KNOW that it wasn't a bear they saw. There are people now speaking out on channels all over You Tube, finally having the courage to share a story they have kept quiet about for 50 or more years. They now realize that sightings aren't as rare as they have thought and the similarities are amazing. As for them being hit by cars, yes that does happen. But these creatures have a skeleton that is much thicker and stronger than hours and unless it's a truck that hits them at dpeeds they will often get up and walk away. They often move within family groups and if one of their tribe is kiled they collect their dead and bury them as we do. I'm going to give you the list of some channels that you might enjoy if you are willing to follow Alicee down the rabbit hole, so to speak. Bigfoot Case Files with Lynn is a channel where people send in their own encounters and she narrates them. Dixie Cryptid with Cam from Mississippi does the same thing. But some truly amazing encounters have been shared on that channel like the small boy who was trapped by a charging 1000 pound bull. His daddy was rushing to him but he knew he wouldn't make it in time, but just when all looked lost out from the woods came a charging 8 foot tall female Bigfoot who slogged that bull so hard that it fell over stunned and then she finished it off with a large stomp on that bulls head. When she saw the boy was unhurt and his Pa was almost there, she retreated back to her world, the night and the deep forests of West Virginia. What you don't understand is that their family structure mirrors ours and the female Bigfoot are very curious about our young, just like the female Bigfoot who bought that 3 year old boy back to his home a few months back after she cared for him for 3 days. You don;t seriously believe a bear did that do you? On ranches that have generational owners, being passed down from son to son, some Bigfoot tribes have respect and affection for the owners and their kin, just as in Peter's, the 'bull boy" case, including gifting between the 2 hominid species. Bigfoot LOVE peanut butter and apples and they will take these often when left by family members and they will give small rodents tightly wrapped in leaves, a favorite snack of the Hairy Men in return. Another channel you should check out is Bob Gymlin's. His name really isn't that, but he is a cultural anthropologist and his scientific slant on things might impress you. Then you need to check out David Paulides, author of Missing 411 books that details all the deaths and disappearances in national parks and other wilderness areas under government control. Check out the heartbreaking story of Dennis Martin, a 5 year old boy who was taken literally from under the nose of his father, brother and grandpa and what a horrible job the US Military, Green Berets and Park officials did in the Great Smoky Mountains 50 years ago last month and how it destroyed their family. It's one of the saddest stories I've heard in my 54 years. I'll stop now and let you begin your journey into truth. And to answer a question of WHY the media and government/military don't talk about the cryptid phenomena except in derision, it's money. How many families are going to take their kids to camp in the great outdoors if they KNOW there are other hominoids in the wild that could take their kids if they wanted to and scare the parents half to death. Not to mention the hunters who would go into the wilderness to bag themselves an alpha predator or the idiots who would dress up and pretend to be a Bigfoot, ending up dead themselves. The cover up is there for a reason but it shouldn't take away from the fact that there are large, nocturnal hominids alive today! PS: Check out "Ape Canyon" for a historical story.
