    *I'm always happy to point you in the right direction regarding questions about Adobe Captivate. If you need more than a simple question answered, you can purchase a one-hour one-on-one session with me at **bit.ly/Cp1on1**. If you only use some of that time, that's okay. You can bank any unused time (15-minute increments) for future sessions. For example, if you use 30 minutes, you can use 30 minutes later.*

    Like the simplicity, yet uniqueness way of the video. I’m building a drag & drop activity using Cp. 9 where there are two columns one for the texts and the other for videos. I’ve started a responsive project with the aim of sending it on LMS, I think I’ll need to export and publish as HTML5. The question is when I import the ppt into Cp.9, the MP4 videos don’t play. Since Playability is an issue, do I need to insert media into the text boxes or shapes? What are your recommendations since I’m a beginner.

      I don't use PowerPoint imported into Captivate but if I had a PowerPoint file with video, I was extract the videos from the PowerPoint file first and bring them into Captivate.

    My version has the option for output format? SWF/HTML5 . Which one should I choose or should I be choosing both? When choosing the HTML a message comes up saying something to the effect that not all of my slides support that format.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This course looks different because it's responsive design. In your care do not choose SWF only select HTML5. If you have objects that are saying they are incompatible with HTML5 you will want to replace those objects with ones that are compatible with HTML5. Use the HTML5 Tracker under the Project dropdown menu to find items that are incompatible with HTML5 output.

      There are a number of ways to share your eLearning project with students. Obviously this video talks about uploading to an LMS. If you don't have an LMS you can use the procedures in these videos to share your eLearning with others:

    Dear Paul,
    Thank you for all these publications about adobe Captivate. They have served me well on many occasions.
    I would like to contact you for the following problem:
    In an LMS, I published an e-learning with "questions slides".
    When the user has answered the questions, they can review the e-learning but not retake the test, so it's OK.
    What can I do if I need to modify the e-learning but still prevent the user from retaking the test?
    I tried to modify the versioning in the "course box" when I published the scorm file but it doesn't work. The e-learnin is well modified but the user has the possibility to redo the test.
    I hope I have been clear in my request.

      Usually, if you change the course it would make sense for learners to be required to complete the course again. For example, if you took a course on Adobe Captivate 2017, taking the course today would include new knowledge and skills for Adobe Captivate 2019. I would expect that previous students would want to and should take the updated version again. Regardless, this is a function of your LMS. I would partner with the LMS Admin about setting this up the way you want it to.

    I'm currently working without an LMS and I want to publish my e-trainings on a SharePoint page so they can at least be viewed by my staff. What is the best format to publish in?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on why you're sharing it with your staff. If it's for review purposes you might want to consider using Review My eLearning, a service for sharing elearning that you want feedback on. I have a video tutorial on using that: th-cam.com/video/tFAxIAdISJM/w-d-xo.html. If you simply want your staff to view the material I would upload it to a web server and simply share the link but without an LMS you will have no line of sight as who has completed the training and how effective the training is. Here is a video on uploading it to a free web server from Amazon that I frequently use. th-cam.com/video/wajNZA9oVnw/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Paul awesome vid,
    Beginner question, my first lms course ever.
    If I want my courses to have lets says three section. Should I create three scrom packages and upload every single one ithe section I want it to belong or there is a way to create the course in captivate with all the sections?
    Thanks

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always opt for three seperate Captivate projects. This way you can bundle all of your lessons into courses in different ways for different audiences. For example, managers might need lesson one, two, and four, while regular employees might need lessons one, two, and three. Also, you might have needs you can't anticipated six months or a year from now that can be achieved by packaging existing lessons differently.

    Hello, Paul. Question for you regarding the LMS upload - if we are trying to capture the words "Pass" or "Fail" within results of our LMS with the course, is there anything we need to specifically do within the course or LMS? Currently (and this may be a fault in our Oracle LMS system), if a user takes the course, it will only say in progress or complete, nothing with pass or fail for actual results of quiz data. I'm using the Scorm 1.2 and have all info checked as you did but wanted to see if you had another thought as to how I can fix this. Thanks!!

    • @dwyergerrity7487

      Perhaps this is where Scorm 2004 should come in...

    • @CaptivateTeacher

      It's possible that your LMS is overriding this setting but if you open the *Preferences* window and select the *Quiz > Reporting Category* . Change *Status Representation* from *Incomplete ---> Complete* to *Incomplete ---> Passed/Failed* .

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adobe Captivate is designed to report results to a learning management system (LMS). There are reporting methods, such as sending your results to an internal server, but merely sending an email with results isn't a function of Captivate.

    Any recommendations to configure captivate scorm file to allow users access the scorm module after completion and pass the quiz?
    Regards,

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best way to do this is to split the quiz content from the module and published them separately. This way each published project file contributes to the course but learners can launch the module without having to write the quiz again. This is partly managed by the LMS when you do this by publishing and making each module contribute to a single quiz.

      @@mohamedjubayli3361 Part of the responsibility is the settings you use in your LMS. It really is what determines if learners can review the material over and over again.

    Hi Paul, your videos are very informative. I have published scorm1.2 packages via captivate 2019. The course completion does not get registered on some devices. When the trainee changes the devices, the ticks on the TOC are removed automatically for some topics, promoting them to undertake some part of course again. Please suggest!

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A user's progress is stored regardless of the state of the TOC. It's part of the reason I don't use the built-in table of contents in favour of building my own. I have several videos on custom table of contents.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I suggest when people have issues with Adobe Captivate published projects is to test them out over on SCORM Cloud. If they work on SCORM Cloud but not your specific LMS the cause is not your project but an issue with your LMS. Since SCORM Cloud is the official version of the SCORM standard you can trust the results.

    Hi Paul, I need to overwrite the current captivate course in my LMS with new content and maintain the current records/completed history for the learners

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reporting for an eLearning course including all the learner records is a function of your LMS. It isn't housed in the Adobe Captivate published project. Uploading a new version of the course should have no impact on the existing course shell. Ask your LMS provider for exact procedures that would be unique to your LMS.

      I guess I assumed you would know what to do with the resulting ZIP file that is generated. There are hundreds of LMSs out there and they all behave differently. Since your LMS might have a different process than mine I didn't figure that would be worth showing in what was already a long video. Here's a video where I upload my ZIP file to my LMS if that helps you. th-cam.com/video/x9Ap3FjfqYw/w-d-xo.html
