When I was 7, the teacher asked the class why they count sheep by heads. Silence. I said 'Well you wouldn't count their legs and divide by 4'. In the '50s this might have got you a rap on the knuckles, but amazingly I got praise.
I’m a math teacher and was trying to teach the kids that sum was the answer to addition, difference was the answer to subtraction, product was the answer to multiplication and the quotient was the answer to division. The question asked what is the difference between nine and six? Instead of three, my student wrote “a six is just a nine turned upside down.” He wasn’t wrong. I had to give him full credit. LOL
I guess “difference” has several meanings. Mathematically, the definition of “difference” is how much less one number is than another, but in general, non-mathematical contexts, it just means _what’s the difference?_ Which means what is the difference between these things? What makes them different from each other? And for some people, especially young children, having one word with multiple meanings can lead to confusion and/or miscommunication. In this case, the miscommunication ended up being very funny. Sometimes, it can be annoying that so many English words have so many different meanings each, or when one meaning has a whole bunch of words that match up to it, but it also means that funny moments like this can happen.

I hope he has teachers who are trained to recognize that children who are autistic are "differently-abled", not disabled. They need teachers who can guide their unique skills at creative thinking. Right on that people see what's up! It's not that we can't laugh at what comes from the mind of a child. But as she saw all the way back then and was exceptionally prophetic about today in her 1996 works, it's no longer about teaching kids critical thinking skills, but deliberately dumbing them down to turn a world of otherwise free and critical thinkers into blind little socialized social servants obedient to the system of schooling (indoctrination) media and government / experts, who know what's best for the masses.

While I don't support Catholicism since it's against parts of the Bible, which has more than proven itself to be the word of God/Creator (and it and the world/universe prove there IS a Creator), I DO support kids having experiences as kids of sitting relatively still and quiet for at least half an hour even if what's being said or whatever isn't holding their attn. . Kids today who never have to do that, are crippled in life imo. They lack basic abilities to do these things if need be, and are too emotionally unable to accept it when it finally comes. From having to hold an adult's hand on way across parking lot to holding up how many fingers old they are, too many little kids now are SO unable and shocked by what most kids back in the 80s could do, learned young to do and accept. Regardless, lots of kids enjoy their time at church very much. I still would have chosen, as a kid, to stay home and watch TV, but I DID enjoy church too. I recently had to miss 2 Sundays In a row following our foster kid's return from being away for a month. He told me on no uncertain terms that I was in big trouble w him if I failed to make it happen ( get him there) the 3rd Sunday !! ( the 1st one was bc he had a sinus infection 🙄... ). Anyway, I really do empathize w how you feel, what you think - it makes a lot of sense, but if there IS a Creator and the Bible IS His word... those of us gathering in light of that... also makes sense !
