The Hemi isn’t working as hard, and likely makes up for its overall displacement with a more efficient A/F ratio at the load it was. The 3.5L TT would be producing the same power up the hill as the RAM, but due to working harder would probably be running a richer A/F, using slightly more fuel.

It's really not surprising. The EcoBoost has had far worse than advertised fuel economy since the day it's been released.
It's quite simple; a small, turbocharged engine has too be under much more load and turn higher rpm to produce the same power and torque as a larger engine, and thus gets worse fuel economy.

    • @bobdennis4801

I like the real mpg element. A lot. Good job figuring out how to do it!
The head to head is also interesting but only when the trucks are direct competitors. Otherwise, one truck is going to be higher % of rated load than the other.
I would also like to see the UPHILL section accelerate to 60mph and SET THE CRUISE CONTROL. Then add a "factor" in the judging if the truck can hold speed or if it kicks out and requires manual control.
Same going DOWN. Set cruise speed and see if the trucks can do it.
Most people drive with cruise on and that's how it should be tested (imho).
