Gameplay correction: break isn't a debuff, it's a combo reaction, and its resistance in enemies I'd separate from debuff resistance
By combining the ogre class skill that decreases break resistance with the break brooch accessory you can inflict break on basically anything

    • @JBspherefreak
      @JBspherefreak  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Nah nah, I'm well aware that break is a reaction but reactions are a type of Debuff. During the time I was writing this script (before the data mine was completed on these mechanics) we also had no idea if it used its own resistance multiplier or not so for simplicity and not to confuse potential new players to the series, I opted to simply call it a Debuff (Which is what it is in technicality, just a different type)

I’m honestly surprised with how many people were initially dissatisfied with the plot. I understand the criticisms completely but I never got the sense of a dip in quality. My only gripes with the story is some questions being left unanswered (which honestly didn’t bother me much because they weren’t all that important to me) and the lackluster antagonists, ironically though I loved Z. I felt like his role and inclusion fit into the story and it’s themes perfectly, but I understand why he can be seen as disappointing. I never felt like the game slowed down after chapter 5, just that it didn’t teach the same high till the final battle which absolutely blew me away. Xenoblade has never been a perfect series, but my god was this game amazing and for sure deserves the same praise as 1 and 2 in my opinion. I can’t wait for the DLC and the future of the franchise!

All those negative points are the dip in quality. If you play any other the other games, especially 2 and Torna, then it’s completely noticeable the lack of emotion, character development, and plot moving forward that occurs in Xenoblade 3. The tutorials are worse, side quests are mandatory and hard to find, and the game info dumps instead of fleshing out characters each chapter. You get so many nameless villains that the good ones and the sympathetic ones are severely lacking. N’s character doesn’t make any sense without FR, X and Y are completely ignored even though they make up the fake trinity, and other minor villains like Crys don’t have enough character development or context to understand why they’re even relevant. You don’t even meet the villains until the game is 3/4 over. Way to much padding and filler content, even the main party doesn’t get enough development.

@@chineseman6580i think that the two last chapters are simply rushed and the big part of the collecting of the shards is a downer. But i think the characters (not all villains) are more fleshed out than the other 2 games, with exceptions like jin, zanza, amalthus. But here you have for example shania, j and d. I think at last it comes down to preference and i prefer 3 way more than 2. But i did all side quest, so maybe thats a thing

@@mattgezockt2596 The main side quests should be part of the main story and forced upon the player. I did not complete many of the Hero Quests and I don’t know where to find them. The ones I did complete I stumbled upon by accident. The way the story of the characters is delivered is made overall complicated and should have been handled normally.

Felt unfulfilled when I finished it but this has my favorite cast of heroes and the most relatable love story in any media that ive seen in a long while. Really needed a love scene with noah and mio and some light couple banters in chapter 6 or 7, they just dropped everything after shanias death cutscene. A lot of baby stuff and tackling loss of loved ones in the city really struck a chord with me as a father of 2. The main characters feels 'adult' to me which I really appreciate. Also the only jrpg or single player game that I instantly started over again after finishing it since xenogears, also enjoying my 2nd playthrough a lot more.
Its a flawed masterpiece for me. The high points is just so high in this game that the shortcomings are glaring.

Totally agree on that point with Noah and Mio. It’s completely bizarre that they do not have one single one to one scene after the start of chapter 6 before the ultimate finale. Even one deep conversation, just to show how the month in prison has impacted Noah, how becoming joined with M has made Mio feel, and the fact that her life has no more limits, would have been fantastic. It just seems strange and almost out of character for them considering how many moments they had before chapter 5’s finale

Like in future redeemed the mean character is Matthew, but when I played it I instaswitched to shulk and rex when they became playable. Don't forget, these are a new set of characters. There are references to previous games like Linka referencing Zeke and Pandoria in FR, and Panacea doing the same in the context of Reyn and Sharla, and Shulk referencing Fiora and Dunban. Showing characters from 1 and 2 alienates newer players, as they feel like they have been spoiled.

I feel almost the exact same way. I remember feeling really empty after finishing the game, like something huge was missing. But after a couple of days that I finished all the hero quests and got time to fully understand everything that went through, I grew up to absolutely love the game overall. Is it perfect? No, but it's the biggest emotional rollercoaster that I've seen in any game, it had me crying, hyped up, laughing... I just can't stop thinking about it, it's the most unique of the franchise and that's what makes it so good. I can't wait for the dlc and I really hope it shines light to many things that where either left to speculation or straight up not fully explained. I found the final area really boring and dissapointing, and don't get me wrong, the design is pretty impressive, but the art direction just killed if for me, it is the culmination of all technology from two worlds and yet it just feels like it came out of a transformer movie, with generic purple enemies
One thing I loved about two's finale is that, while the world tree might not be really that interesting, everything surrounding it was building up to it, you reach the Tree part of the world, then fall to the land of morytha with the remains of torna and the forgotten civilization, then you reach the entrance to the tree and is this technological station with a bunch of robots different to each other, you go outside it for brief seconds as you watch the battle with indol and torna, then finally climb it all to find a desolated Elysium which was where the old space civilization lived, it was all amazing
Origin just felt really bland and lame to me, just walking in circles around same looking areas, oh and then there's a Theater at the core for... some reason.. like there's no build up to it, just take a random elevator of which you took like 10 already.. and it takes you to a floating theater
And I could've seen it, like, we've seen agnus and keves architecture and looks really great specially the castles, so when I heard origin was the ultimate culmination of both game worlds I got really excited! but no, is just your random evil looking lair with the model of a theater just there at the end, again, the design of origin itself is pretty impressive, but it just feels like they dropped the ball really hard after that

You actually feel like your climbing up the world tree where as Origin just feels like your going in one big circle and wandering. That said, I don't mind the art direction as it does feel otherworldly compared to everything else but I do wish they focused in more on this theme. Been discussing recently the idea that Origin should have played with Gravity in some areas so at time your walking on walls and roofs (Kind of like the distortion world in Pokemon Platinum)

I also 100% agree that the sheer number of Moebius make them not very memorable or impactful. I though Xenogears handled villains much better actually. And yeah IMO everything after Xenoblade 1 plot-wise is kind of retconned and they don't do a great job of delivering the plot. Like, we bought the game... JUST TELL US. All the characters are also so good (with some exceptions) and the story too (despite the last two chapters being kind of mid).
However, the main villains were really lacking (with some notable exceptions) and I hated how they left so many things unexplained when previous games always had those revelation moments I was looking forward each and every time. It also felt very strange as a conclusion to the trilogy, it really feels like a fourth one is needed to actually conclude it all properly.

I thought this had to be the end all be all Xenoblade experience but now that the series is popping off with sales, I see now that 3 can serve as a great foundation that is hopefully built upon by Monolith in the future whether they continue with the blade franchise or make a new Xeno series entirely. Also I appreciated personally how subtle of a ‘sequel’ it really is and they also managed to add in some small Xenogears illusions/references in there as well which makes the game feel more like a homage to Takahashi’s 24 years of game directing.

I really disagree on Lanz as the least developed character. To me Sena is clearly the least well developed and this opinion is largely shared from what I've seen. Lanz is quite well developed in my opinion through his relation with Joran and will learn to not take everything at face value thanks to his Keves teamates, especially Noah. On the point you mentionned, I feel like I could pretty much say the same about Taion. I think learning there was other ways to be useful rather than fighting wasn't the main point of his character but more what I speaked about earlier. I ultimately would have appreciated more interactions between Lanz and Taion on the charging ahead vs the well crafted strategy approach cause it could have leaded to more character development for both I think. Sena's development really feels lacking on the other hand. A big part of her development is more through side quests and even then she's not the main focus at any point. Her relation with Shania came too late and feels forced in my opinion when they stay pretty different in their approach. It's not explicite enough on why would they be the same. It feels like it comes out of nowhere (even though I know it's because they always try to impress). But this motivation clearly wasn't taken far enough throughout the story. She really starts being developed only after Keves castle and stays in the shadow of the group (emotionally speaking) from the beginning to this point. Lanz has been better developed throughout the entire story however.
Also I have one critic on the video cause to me your final verdict was too quick and you don't detail why you would consider this game as a must play exactly. You're essentially saying your opinion changed after reading comments online about the depth of the game but don't give any specific detail so this sounds like you quickly changed your opinion in the end and it doesn't necessarely align with the whole analysis of the video.
I pretty much agree on the rest of this video though, positive and negative points.

I personally disagree but this does come down to personal preference. I do think Sena is the second least developed character but her character trait as the emotional support for the party upped her in my eyes (reminds me of Riku and I like Riku).
As for the change of opinion, allow me to clarify. When I first finished Xenoblade 3, I was very disappointed with the story mainly due to my lack of understanding about it. I felt that after Chapter 5 (beginning of Chapter 6), the game fell of drastically as the story just felt rushed from this point onwards and development and everything else was put to the side in space of "STORY DEVELOPMENT" and came to the end of the game feeling quite conflicted. Up to Chapter 5, I would argue that this is the best Xenoblade game made but from after that point, I really didn't like it. It was at this point over a couple of months that I debated a number of topic with people online (Mainly in Discord) and came to understand more about this game. In particular, the Lore Explaination videos really gave me a chance to explore and enjoy the Lore that was in the game (Even tho there wasn't much) and overtime, my opinion began to change for the better. I still think the ending is lacking, shown via the video I made fixing it but I could eventually come to appreciate it in its entirety

i wish the game didn't release early. i would have rather they took another 3 months to iron out the story and worldbuilding flaws, but otherwise its a good game

3 months wouldn't have been enough time to fix the issues that most people have. It might be enough to fix my issues with a few aspects of the ending but I don't think it would have made all that much of a difference. The game being moved up isn't an issue for me

I felt no emotion with this game where as I cried with 1 & 2, 2 especially having the most emotional impact by a looong shot. The story in this game was so poorly executed it doesn’t even come close to being in the same tier as the other 5 cannon games.

    • @danknados

tbh I cried with this game more than 1 and 2 combined. Joran's sacrifice, the ending, it practically brought me to tears. Surprisingly enough, 1 and 2 somehow didn't give me the same feeling, even though 2 is the game which embodies sacrifice the most, with vandham, Haze, Mikhail, Jin, Malos and eventually Pneuma were all sacrificing themselves/ being secrificed.

I started playing xenoblade 3 a few months ago. I dont know how far I am in the game but I'm characters are currently at level 46. I enjoy open world games and i almost enjoy this game as much as I do breath of the wild. I like Zelda breath of the wild a little better because you have to be more precise with defense and attack. Once I best xenoblade 3 I may consider playing the dlc offers

      @JBspherefreak  2 ปีที่แล้ว

To clarify, are you disagreeing that there is a lack of fanservice and subtle world building or the fact that they are a negative??
I personally just wanted one drop of fan service (That doesn't mean bath scene or booba) or just some big reference back to the other 2 games. After Chapter 5, I just wanted one more hype moment and then I would have been content.
As for the world building, yea thats good but I don't like it from a technical gameplay perspective most of the time

As much as I love Xenoblade Chronicles 3 but I think it is too polished
The story beats that the previous games had it hiccups occasionally but I think 3 just moves forward with little time for side quests or down time in the story
1 and 2 felt more impactfull in the end while 3 left me a little dissatisfied
Like 1 with Fiona having short hair had me bawling
And 2 with Poppi running to hug the girls gave me a leap of joy and then Rex's face with a hint of mystery
3 was suppose to have left me happy for them but at the same time longing for the endless now

I love the xenoblade 3 but I love xenoblade 2 a bit more.
    Xenoblade 2 >= xenoblade 3 > Xenoblade X > Xenoblade 1
Xenoblade chronicles 2 was the only one that has made me actually cry
Along with the relatable story and characters, the world building was amazing and for being made during the pandemic and with half of the team [the other half being taken for breath of the wild ]
The lip sink was jarring and the tutorial was horrible. I had to replay the game 6 time in order to find out what the combos do haha. Didn't mind it since in every lets play was a new experience and learned more every single time and the dlc just made the game better as a whole.
Loved all of the characters and each titan and the exploration was really fun along with the combat with all the unique blades also when you have the foods and awsome normal blades. Everything felt connected same thing I felt with 3 but 2 had everything with the main story was phonomal.
    9.9/10
Xenoblade chronicles 1 I only cared about certain sections of the story. Tbh with how I played it with me only being able to play until 7 and shuck fell of a cliff then a flood destroyed my 3ds. After playing xenoblade chronicles 1 definitive editon I liked the game just most of it was really surprising especially 7, I would say xenoblade chronicles 2 made me appreciate it more. With the whole ending timing into xenoblade 2. The only part I found enjoyable was melias whole arc and the whole city with the island which was my first time playing. This game was the only one where when i replayed it i didn't really get and ah ha moments in terms of shulk which everyone was hyping about. If anthing shulf felt the most bland until the end and most of the characters moments was mostly taken by the villan since after the reveal i got the woah moments becuse of xeno2. I would explain it more but I am really bad at typing haha.
Xenoblade x I watched a lets play of and it shocked me to no end. The world and its build through its side quest with the main story is 👏 loved it, the ending though was a shock and a one that I actually want an answer to lol. Just waiting for a port so I can play it.
Xenoblade chronicles 3 had a mix character and world building in side quest, I do feel that the world is a bit lacking in certain parts but not that bad. Everything felt like a improvement on xenoblade 2 with the side quests but the world was more support than apart of the story until the end in xenoblade 3
The cast is 👏 team augnes loved every thing kind hard to find some side quests but I am still playing to find all of em. Was not really sad of the not alot of returning characters but with the ending and the mentions in side quests was nice
It felt like this was a merge of a beginning game and a endgame game, I like figuring out stuff on my own so I will just replay it at least 5 more times to make sure

I'm a little over six hours into XC3 but so far its just not clicking with me and I can't put my finger on why.
For me XC2 is still my favorite, flaws and all. I would say XC1 is better but it didn't have the emotional impact that 2 had and I have to give it credit for that.
I'm going to keep playing 3 in the hopes that I'll hit that point in the story where it will make sense why so many people love it, but as of the moment I'm pretty "meh" about it.

  • @moomanchu608

My comparison to the other games
    Story premise: 1 >2 > 3
Story execution: 1 > 2=3 (3 just has a terrible final act in terms of polish. It peaks at ch 5/6 but then drops off in quality pretty hard)
Cast: hard to pick but eunie, melia, nia, mio, pyra, poppi, tora, zeke, jin, lora, reyn. I agree the interactions are incredible in this game specifically but Sena falls short sadly.
Gameplay: 3 >2 > 1 (this game is the most fun gameplay wise)
Map music 1 = 2 = 3 (although most of the new tracks have very boring parts unlike the previous 2 games)
Battle music 3 > 1 = 2 ( this game has my fav battle theme)
Maps: 1 = 2 > 3 (3 relies on the other two and the best ones are too small…)

XC3 had a few too many plot holes, narrative inconsistencies and missed opportunities for me to say that it's the best in the series. That crown still sits on XC2's head in my opinion. That said, I had a blast playing XC3, and it's a very enjoyable game.

    • @gratefulkm
      @gratefulkm ปีที่แล้ว

      The plot is,
You have two brains (planets) these two brains should operate in unison like the Ying and Yang symbol
But the Lower emotional brain has been put to sleep ,by REASON and LOGIC . in western culture the lower brain is the Devil
Which allows the concept of "NOW" a place with zero emotions no FEAR/SIN , Sanctuary
The Abrahamic's call it flattening the curve
This allows the breeding of humans within a DELUSION created by thought and telling them they are in Eternal conflict with the other side, otherwise known as the industrial military complex and if they are good soldier's they go to heaven
But by reawakening the emotional brain and re establishing the spectrum of subjective and objective you achieve a balance that ceases to destroy
You start to "see the woods instead of the trees"
In other words that there is no separation between us and them me and you, you just imagine individuality and focus solely on individuality the "TREES!"
The enemy was each character arguing within themselves to accept the loss and pain of emotions or the legion the Amygdala and remove emotions from the Human race , like we have before, in ancient times

It is a must play if you have any sort of affinity for RPGs, and it’s at least worth checking out otherwise. If you’re afraid of the number 3, I’ll say as someone who has played every single Xenoblade game (as well as Saga I, but that doesn’t matter right now) that you shouldn’t be. You can enjoy this completely on its own, although I will mention that there are a few Easter eggs and little story bits that you will appreciate more with some basic knowledge of what came before.

Honestly I found the story a bit inconclusive and too short for the duration of the game.
In some parts it's really rushed, especially in the second half, while it really takes its due time at the beginning.
It also went back to Xenogears levels of useless mistery. If the nature of Aionios and Z had been explored more in the main story, it would have helped having a better experience with the conflict at hand.
I also liked the writing of the side quests...but they were really too many.
The hero characters were too many. Most of them felt like filler and slowed down the pacing to an excruciating stop.
The class system is a good idea, but not that well implemented. Individually, the cast main classes were the best and the more thought out to work in sinergy to one another. The variety of techniques and abilities was actually the best in the series, but I like more how Future Redeemed implemented them, than the base game, by removing the "job system".
I don't like that this time the map is more traditional, but it's designed for the abuse of fast travel. It's a matter of taste, but I hate the non-diegetic fast travels in games. Exploring the world without it means literally running in circles for hours.
I found it to be still a good game, but the worst Xenoblade. And it's a pity: the story themes were the deepest in the series.
