    From one local to another I'm glad you're enjoying your new home here. Your photos are breathtaking! Have you been kayaking down the Upper Truckee River yet from Meyers to the Keys? If you'd like to join me and my kayaking friends from work we'll be hitting the river in mid to late May during the spring run-off and once the weather gets warm. JP

      Thank you Jerry! I have not done that, I've only kayaked once since living here but definitely want to do it more. Do you rent kayaks on the Truckee river ?

    • @jerrypluto9009
      @jerrypluto9009 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GabriellaViola No renting is not necessary. I have 5 kayaks of my own. Three hard-shell kayaks and 2 inflatables. You are welcome to join us when we go again and please bring your camera and you can use one of my kayaks. It's a blast and you will LOVE IT ! Feel free to text (or call) me any time at 530.314.3239 and we can start to make plans. JP

    Thank you! Your video was very informative! I'm currently trying to decide between Reno & South Lake Tahoe.

      Both are great options, but I guess it depends on how close to the lake you want to be in terms of the convenience factor.. Reno has some great bar and restaurant options though

    Nice videos, what is the weather like there year round?

    • @GabriellaViola

      The weather is pretty as long as you don't mind snow, you get all four seasons...I would say it's mostly mild, rarely too hot or too cold...and very low humidity. I spoke on it a bit more in this video: th-cam.com/video/LTCIPd2KL4M/w-d-xo.html

    Your video answered most of my questions-so thank you Gabriella. When it comes to making new friends in Lake Tahoe, have you tried doing things like using Meetups or joining hiking groups?

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Cliff! I used to do meetup when I lived in LA, but thats actually a great idea!

    As far as Isolation, keep in mind, tons from Sacramento and Reno go to South Tahoe just for the casino nightlife and clubs like Peek which was called Vex and Altitude before that way back in the early 2000s.And of course the ones at Montbleu etc.
    If you can make a decent living, I'd rather go visit Reno or Sac/Bay than vice versa and live in Tahoe or Mammoth

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      its definitely nice to live in tahoe and be close to the lake ...and i have to explore reno and mammoth more! I've barely scratched the surface!

    You truly don’t need 4wd what you need is good snow tires. But anyway, I love your videos ❤️

    Great Channel. Really helps with planning trips to Lake Tahoe and also looking at it for a place to live during COVID. Are all the places you mentioned for a great hike requiring a car? Looking at Google Maps at your places they look like 30 minute drives. Is there a way to get there without a car?

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Most hikes require a car but you can always Uber. I know there is a bus as well I'm just not sure where it takes you ...

      Hey Daniel thanks for the message! So I got a bartending job when I first moved to Tahoe. I don't know if working in the service, tourist, or hospitality industry is something you might want to do, at least in the beginning while you look for something in your field. There are lots of jobs on Indeed.com for South Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area!

    I had a job interview over the phone today, from heavenly. They didn't even call me. Why would you want to interview me but then just ghost me? Really?

    Is Tahoe a place retirees would feel comfortable and have you ever personally felt unsafe?

    • @GabriellaViola
      @GabriellaViola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lots of people dream of retiring here! it's very laid back and safe! I've never felt unsafe at any point, but it has its crime like anywhere else.

      Tahoe is beautiful place for Retirement, however keep in mind the amount of snow we get. Are you physically able to shovel and clear 4ft of snow? My neighbor’s are retired and they hire a company for that. Beside that Tahoe is awesome for retirement.

      @@tsheringsherpa5462 What months does it snow in Lake Tahoe? Does it snow into April or May? I have been to Lake Tahoe once in January and once in July and it is great. My one concern is how long I'd be able to ride my motorcycles and Porsche in Tahoe, which would be hard during the snowy months.

    Do any African Americans live in this area?

      Great question. I looked it up and found this article: worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/south-lake-tahoe-ca-population. I'm not sure why the diversity is so lacking.
