- I have an update to the situation regarding TH-cam suspending people's accounts. After speaking with people at TH-cam and coordinating with those that have been affected (with the help of my mods) I'm happy to the say that the problem is currently being worked on! It's not FIXED yet but things are moving in the right direction to make sure that this never happens again. Watch for the full details and please signal boost so people are aware.
A huge thank you to my mods who have helped communicate the issue and gather information through the whole process! This is still a work-in-progress but I’m happy things are getting done!

The scary thing about this situation is that if this happened to a smaller channel or one with less influence then this probably never would have been resolved. TH-cam only fixed this because Mark called them out. They still didnt even explain why google accounts as a whole were suspended. Peoples lives litereally could've been ruined if this wasnt fixed and the fact that this could happen at any time without warning is scary

@@noahjohnson935 At this point, Mark could call for a full on Crusade for TH-cam, and he wouldn't make a single dent. Look around you, there are hundreds of products that are complete POS's, but remain on the top, because they made it to the top first, and no one is willing to switch.
When 100 of the top TH-camrs move to a different channel, then Google might bat an eye, and consider making changes.

Algorithms can be stupid
Your Google account IS your TH-cam account. They are one in the same if you ever linked them. Ie, banning your Google account is a perfectly reasonable punishment, because it's just banning your account in general.
What you spam isn't relevant to them; only that you spammed. Spamming an emote is no different than spamming anything else in their eyes. You might as well have spammed distasteful statements.

Natalie Flowers Basically, TH-cam was constantly bragging about how kids go on their site, so the government sued TH-cam and forced them to use the Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and now creators have to mark their videos as for kids or not for kids starting January 2020. If we mark them as for kids, we lose 90% of our ad revenue, comments, community tab, I cards, end cards, and more. If we mark them as not for kids and TH-cam disagrees, we get fined $42K per video. As you can see, content creators are stuck in an endless loop, as TH-cam penalizes is for mature content and family friendly content. Also, according to COPPA, some things you’re not allowed to have in your videos without being fined consist of:
-Snack foods/Cereal
-Animals
-Animated characters (this includes video games)
-Bright colors.
TLDR; TH-cam bragged a lot and got sued and now the government is trying to increase the amount of homeless people.

It still blows my mind that getting suspended on youtube can get your entire google account banned and locked out of, THAT is something that also needs to be addressed. TH-cam should NOT have that level of power over someone's ENTIRE google account.

Mark's love for us is one of the most wholesome things on this site. We've all heard about youtube's algorithms being an issue and such, and we've definitely seen youtubers getting upset about it... but Mark has always stayed quiet when it was affecting him. Even on the whole "broadcasting Heist to all of India" problem, HE took responsibility. But the moment it became about his fans, he became vocal and genuinely angry. Gotta love this man.

Twitch does something VERY similar to that. Twitch very seldom take action against chatters. On one channel we had a competition how hard we could spam. One made irc bot that did like 20 messages per second. He got suspended for 24 hours. Usually it's just channel's mod team that timeouts/kicks/bans people who spam when it's unwanted.

My biggest problem with all of this is that NOTHING happened before you made it into a situation they had to deal with. Before you did, when it was just the users having issues, youtube ignored it and basically called people liars when they tried to appeal.
Sure, they're admitting this was wrong, but again.. nothing happened before you forced them to notice.

With how much manpower TH-cam has and with how many people they have dedicated to banning accounts, looking at appeals and greenlighting videos, they have no excuse to ignore anyone. They constantly shit on smaller youtubers, ban completely fair content because it doesn't fit their needs, promote their politics over content, take away income from people by not allowing them to post the content that is not problematic in any way.
Then they basically turn around and bitch at us when we give them backlash for how scummy they act. They never really fix problems, they but bandages over them and then move on to create even more, and even bigger problems they aren't going to fix.
TH-cam has the manpower, what they don't have is an excuse.
There definitely does seem to be a shade of "Sorry they got caught/called out, not sorry they did it" at play here. But the point about simply needing someone big enough to draw the attention of higher ups is *also* a fair one.

Mark is so goddamn genuine. He represents what was so great about TH-cam through the years, and I hope we can get that TH-cam back: hard working, clearly understands the connection between himself and his fans (the mutual caring and love), and just purely authentic. It seems like this is becoming more rare nowadays on here with all the toxic TH-camrs who are just trying to get that YT$$$... don't get me wrong, there are still a lot of amazing creators and thank GOD for them, but people like Mark and MatPat who so clearly care about this whole community and put in so much effort to make us all aware of what's going on... just a lotta love for those guys (and again, all the other great creators doing so much good).
I'm late to this video, but truly an amazing job by all parties involved. It's a win for creators and the community in some pretty dark times for TH-cam tbh. Love you all

The reviews aren't manually reviewed most if the time. I don't care what they try to say. I had appeals on 15 minute long videos literally INSTANTLY rejected.
There was no time for anyone to even look at it yet alone review the video as they claim they do.
The system tells them what the offense is and gives them a timestamp so they can jump to the problem

@@Jeebles-mccreebles, well for one they wouldn't of even had time to load the video... But even that aside the videos they rejected had nothing wrong with them which if someone did review they would of easily seen. It was all from false flagging.
I later was able to get things restored by chance by getting a hold of a Google rep that put in a manual review request that found nothing at all wrong... So yeah... No one actually reviewed like claimed otherwise they would of found this too right off the bat.
Did I mention that this lack of actual review actually got my channel removed too? Then they insta rejected my appeals to get it restored also. If I didn't get ahold of someone who actually cared my TH-cam would of been permanently gone with nothing I could do specifically because they never actually gave me a fair chance by looking at my appeals.
According to ThioJoeTech: “TH-cam's Broken System Bans Hundreds of People's ENTIRE GOOGLE ACCOUNT For No Reason” around minute 5 speculates they can be people with a very low wage, paid as a bulk for appeals, so they don’t give a *** watch it is a good video talking about this issue
No, the person doing the reviews was likely just lazy and didn't feel like actually doing the job of reviewing so many cases that all came in at about the same time. They clicked a box that denied all of them at the same time and called the job done.
