For my primary desktop (gaming and productivity - office, web-dev, some audio/video) I got a 3700x for just under MSRP (codes/cashback) at launch (I upgraded my 1600x on an x370 board from 2017) and loved it. Very impressed at the time for the price. Zero complaints since.
Mid last year, I was looking for an upgrade to my i5 3470 based HTPC and I wanted to get a one of these 3300x models, as they looked like such good value, but they weren't in stock anywhere. I ended up getting an R3 3100 and an A320 board for £10 more than the price of the 3300x. Added a cheap 500gb nvme and 16gb of 3200 cl16 which worked at xmp out of the box. Frankly, it's been stellar for the price, and my housemate has been using it as his primary PC for coding and web-dev recently. They're little workhorses with decent ram and storage. It's handled all games I've thrown at it on my 4k60 TV, as my main desktop takes care of Cyberpunk. Everything else has been great on the little trooper, as it only needs to do 60fps and on cinematic, couch-games.
As much as I wanted the extra 10% in clocks and latency of the 3300x, it would have cost me 40-50% more in the end.
Eventually I'll swap the 3700x into the a320 HTPC build (microATX) and sell off the 3100 and x370 (ATX) in time to upgrade my main system to AM5 or equivalent (DDR5), where I'll go big with a 16c/32t 64gb monster. The ability for this process of conscious downcycling is the single best advantage of AM4's platform in the end for me.

Bought this around August when it suddenly appeared in a local shop (middle EU). It is practically uses the same methods as the new gen, just on 4 cores and despite me going for it as a filler until the 5000 series, I got fond of it and ended up holding on to it - especially after founding out it's unique manufacturing process and overall mythical nature later.
This chip delivers 3700x level of performance in certain titles, so for a gaming build, the value is just unbeatable. Paired it with an rtx 2060 itx card (was also considered a rare find even before the gpu shortage) and got a small jewelry box of technology:)

I have bought it and yes its great! Especially for gaming. Though when it comes to multi tasking with 4 cores today, you can easily reach a limit. (I reach 100% cpu usage for playing minecraft w/ shaders, and a minimum of 12 chunk render, while watching a youtube livestream). If you use multi monitors and plan to multi task and not just focus on the gaming part AND a want a better headroom for future proofing. Ryzen 7 3700x has the best value for your money IMO.

I recently bought my son a “used” new built gaming pc and was wondering if you did any recommendations on how good stuff is. I have all the specs and did some homework and from what I seen I did save money compared to building it with the same components myself but still don’t know if it will be good enough or if you’d have any suggested upgrades

Some 3300X CPUs have come back in stock at Newegg and B&H for $150 , makes me wonder if they just came out of a warehouse someplace or if they are still being made?

Was going to get this CPU when it got announce but hot damn the pc shop at our town won't sell me one unless it's bundle with MoBo, which jacked up the price for me and I didn't even need the extra baggage. Sadge that I'm still stuck with my 2200G up to this day.

One of the lucky ones who got a 3300x at MSRP, like a year ago and it's true: a complete beast (I see it as a 4-core 3600)

i remember someone told me why i didn't go for the 3300X instead of the 10400, i never even knew the 3300X even existed in the first place, and it didn't have integrated graphics sadly.

It was in stock last month or so in Switzerland for around 155Sfr. (~$164) while you could get a 10400f for around 134Sfr. (~$145). Nice chip but the price to performance isn't there anymore even when it's in stock.

Where i live, the retailers never got them. I bought a total of three of this CPU from three stores in June 2020. These orders still hasn't been been sent to me. So it's really a unicorn.

I managed to snag one of these CPUs at approximately MSRP... It was great for a sub-$1000 CAD gaming build, of which I've built quite a few. But then they disappeared forever, and then even the R3-3100 started creeping up in price. :(
Here's hoping the R3-5300G isn't too expensive and can slot into the same price point that the 3300X (briefly) occupied.

I picked one up last month for $150 on eBay. It was in a brand new retail box with cooler sealed but from Korea. The listing was ambiguous because it only said "new" I had no idea it was a new retail version in box. Since I only use it for gaming this was the obvious choice for me and it was better than spending $220 on a 3600. I would only get this CPU if only use is for gaming and workloads are not taken into consideration.

I wanted to get this chip for my mother's PC last year, but when I saw the prices, I figured I'd just give her my "old" 2600X and upgrade to a 2700X instead as soon as the prices on the "grey market" came down a bit. She now has a six core processor just for browsing the web but that's how we roll.
