i'm not fond of those do-it-all subs. I'm not talking about the subarines with creative ways to assist the crew or fun bits like elevators, auto systems, and neat functions. Its just seeing those over-gunned T1 Scout/cargo subs, and man, seeing the rescarch tables in every custom submarine like its a normal crafting bench to have... especially if these subs are purposed and advertised for vanilla campaign use. Then again, i guess it makes more sense in a modded lobby with more difficulty. but some sub editors should refer more to the vanilla subs sometimes, just to keep the game balance in mind.
I see no issue with the research table, but the rest are just kind of strange to have, like, commit to a role, and if that is all rounder, it shouldn't excel at everything.
personally i dont mind a sub having a full roster of self stability espically if its marked as a T3 as at that point i consider being self stable A REQUIREMENT. as from memory once ya get past the ocean zone ya kind of just on ya own for the most part.
or just let people have fun lmao, there's a reason why these subs have people downloading them, and it's bc they just want to use them and don't care about your shitty view on it
This sub has everything I dislike about workshop subs. From the incredibly cramped design, to the questionable overkill of the armament (the 2x large hardpoints isn't a dealbreaker though, Winterhalter has it as well), to the fact this thing is powered by only 6 junction boxes and the loads of items stowed everywhere. However I dig the design, it looks good. Shuttle is also nice even though it suffers from the same issues as the rest of the sub.
As a sub maker myself, i have some complex and somewhat cramped designs, the trick is breathing room and intuitiveness. Like my shuttle the frogfish, has switchable guns, nav, and searchlight, all in a single periscope. However, its streamlined as to where my friends where able to figure it out in minutes
@@personman2346 definitely, a good cramped design imo has stuff everywhere but in a way that everything is still clearly accessible. Rolling functions into one periscope does help because it eliminates having a bunch of them for different tasks. I imagine it creates a interesting balance as well because you can't use everything at once. Being intuitive can be as simple as just labeling what things do, even just in the interaction menu. I learned this the hard way on one of my own subs.
Thankfully I didn't upload my cursed version of the Barsuk, It's crampted like hell because I don't know how to design a sub, I replace the front laser with a rail gun and put the front laser where the airlock was and- yeah it's a big mess but I like it, I guess it fits the theme of being a shitsub like the Barsuk.
"Attack of the Displays". Its neat that some machines are able to display their information, but you have to question "Who actually needs to know this?". Like how often is someone besides the captian going to check the outside depth or the speed of the X and Y? Other displays can be replaced with a green light to indicate if its on or off.
for anyone else just search up 'brain fart aneurysm sound meme' and the videos with it will come up edit - its a different one in this video tho some remix version
Ive just made my first ship/first ship i published its called Cube...Much a time spent watching your vids to fuel my Barotrauma Binge it only took me about 22 hours intotal i think...

couldnt agree more, well said
Worse part is that these types of subs are not public lobby friendly at the slightest
