Thank you!!! I’ve been searching for someone to actually compare the damn ingredients as I noticed this by reading them lol. The original green one has slightly less niacinamide as it’s 5th in the ingredients list, whereas the pink one is 4th. Both have hyaluronic properties; but people should know that elf uses sodium hyaluronate, which is a salt form of hyaluronic acid which is a much cheaper form of it and doesn’t have as strong of an effect. This ingredient is 10th in the list for the original power grip and 9th in the list for the new “niacinamide” power grip. Also, the original one has menthol in it, and I wish this was talked about more. This is a great ingredient to “trick” people into believing it’s more hydrating and/or is adding some sort of relief to dry skin as it can offer a cooling sensation. However, menthol as an ingredient for skincare products can cause irritation and sensitivity reactions, especially for those who are dehydrated (which any skin type can be dehydrated) or have more of a reactive or sensitive skin. So honestly I would grab the new version no matter what your skin type is. If it’s hydration you’re looking for that will be best done with your base skincare products that you use before your primer. I know this post is like a year old lol but with these tacky and gripping primers still causing hype I wish more ppl were aware of this. I’d also like to lastly point out that ppl also need to be careful with how much niacinamide they are using it n their skin, especially their face. Up to about 5% in total is great for your skin, but any more than that can actually result in the opposite effect of what this active ingredient is meant for. Your skin can actually flare up and become red and you can break out from the overuse of this ingredient. So say your cleanser has niacinamide, and then your toner or serum or essence or whatever and then your face cream or moisturizer also has niacinamide in it plus it being in your primer (the new elf one already being at 4%) it won’t actually have any benefits for you. All of these companies are becoming overly obsessed with this ingredient and it’s driving me insane lol. More is not always better.

Ooh thank you for pointing this out!! My go-to daily moisturizer is the CeraVe PM one with niacinamide, so I’ll be sure not to use it with this primer!

@@JuliaMarieH you’re very welcome! I am actually a certified Esthetician if it’s any consolation, so I do know quite a bit regarding skincare and like anyone else in this field, whether it be an Esthetician or a Dermatologist I am still always learning. It is nice to see companies incorporate some skincare ingredients into their makeup products, but some ingredients just really aren’t necessary if you already have a good and proper skincare routine. Both the overuse of hyaluronic acid and niacinamide can actually cause the opposite effect of what these ingredients are meant to treat and prevent. Hyaluronic acid being a big one as you’ll find that in everything these days. At least a lot of companies use sodium hyaluronate, and usually a small amount if it’s found farther down in the ingredients list so depending on how many products you use and how much of this ingredient is actually in those products it can be fine to use a few products that have it. You just have to be mindful with the products you’re using by always checking the ingredients and figuring out how much of a certain active ingredient is in your products to make sure you’re not overusing a certain ingredient. Example, the cleanser I will use for my second cleanse and also in the morning has hyaluronic acid in it and it includes a good amount of it so I make sure that my face serums as well as moisturizer doesn’t contain it as it isn’t needed. I have a dry skin type that often suffers from dehydration during the winter months and overuse of hyaluronic acid actually dehydrates my skin a lot more. There are more beneficial ingredients when it comes to dehydration such as shea butter as an example.

100% agree about preferring the elf gripping primer slightly more than milk one, but the tipping point is really the price for me! Thanks for the quick review!

Oooh the new one reminds me of the LYS primer that I love. But the LYS also has AHA. I already use an AHA toner, so don’t necessarily need the added ingredient anyway. I’ll probably try the Elf once my LYS is done.

I got the pink one instead of the original, because peppermint irritates my rosacea. So the ingredients are different 🙋🏻‍♀️✨
Thank you for the video! ✨✨✨

What spf do you use with this and do you use the primer before or after spf? 😂 I’ve been really trying to figure this out 🙏🏼
