He actually goes into the Ultimate mode of that form later and uses his life energy to power it and its even more ridiculously over powered but he does it knowing he'll die immediately afterwards.

yup you need to watch the series, it's all on netflix. The exhibit B is really incredible if you know the background of what's going on. Meliodas is like a god tier demon that fell in love with an Archangel or something, some crazy shit happens there, and he basically leaves the whole demon hell thing behind and the big boobed girl in black Merlin seals his powers away and he's still the second strongest at that point... well shit happens and those powers get unlocked, because he witnesses something that like makes him snap, so they send Escanor in whom has the power of the most powerful archangel that had died. (I guess in comparison, he'd basically be Michael) so Escanor has Merlin put them inside of this unbreakable cube so that Escanor can keep Meliodas occupied long until for the anger to subside. (which is why despite Meliodas cheerful and aloof personality, he is the sin of wrath.) If you're not an anime fan, but say you like things like DBZ, Bleach, This, Naruto Shippuden (which is the second half of Naruto), Fairy Tail, and there are a few others Say one punch man that is very similar to this in the superhero level powers genre type thing.

If you're on the fence about anime is suggest finding what genre you like and staring there. Whatever movie or shows you like to watch there is an anime genre for that. Also start with the short ones(12 episodes) is you binge watch one of those it's only 4.5 hours so not allot of time but they might also seemed rushed.
