      The Sarsaparilla root that used to be the root in root beer was replaced with sassafras. Unfortunately sassafras root is used in medicine in the rest of the world so, everyone immediately tastes like they are drinking medicine and “hates” the flavor because they associate it with being ill.

      @la8ball ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@qwertyuiopz123 Both can get you sick but the flour is more likely to get you sick compare to eggs and not because its unsanitary. Flour got a lot of natural bacteria in it and when eating too much cases stomach aches. For eggs, the inside is 100% safe to eat raw. It's the outside you have to worry about. If the protect coating on the egg surface is broken or shell is cracked, bacteria and stuff can get inside the egg. Good news your chance of getting sick is very slim to none with all the preventive measure they companies took to make sure it does not happen. I've made a bunch of batter from scratch and never got sick after eating it. Only ones that need to worry are people with weak immune systems.

      I grew up in Southern California and a lot of my friends moms made banana pudding, and they were white or Hispanic moms and my mom always made banana pudding and my grandmothers made banana pudding and banana cream pie and we’re Mexican-Americans. Lol.. When we went to restaurants, like a local coffee shop, there was always in the desert case, slices of cakes or pies, and different flavors of pudding and banana pudding was one of them. I still see it made or sold to this day. I still see banana pudding or the banana cream pies at family get togethers or church potlucks. It’s not a culture thing, it’s just an American favorite. I have a theory about s'mores; that people have been conditioned into thinking they like s'mores because of pop-culture and nostalgia, when they are not objectively the best. The flavor combination is good, but dear lord, the graham crackers create this initial dry, dusty barrier, in which, until your saliva kicks in and makes a cohesive mass, you're just cutting the roof of your mouth with celibacy-cookies.

    I found the negative reaction to cookie dough to be an interesting cultural difference. For Americans, cookie dough is a taste that takes us back to childhood memories of helping our mothers or grandmothers in the kitchen and licking the mixer batons afterwards. Also, I feel that eating cookie-dough started as a joke in American movies and American television programs. Cookie dough was eaten by characters that were either broken-hearted or too lazy to bother with baking. It had a negative connotation but eventually it became its own place as a dessert. Rather than eating straight up I recommend having some cookie dough ice cream instead. Thanks, Katchup for bringing joy to people everywhere!

      It's common that people love to eat cookie dough while someone is making cookies, which eventually lead to companies making "cookie dough" products which are safe to eat (no raw egg) and should be less "sandy" and such. As they are designed for eating and not baking. But, cookie dough is absolutely a popular desert and flavor of many deserts. Cookie dough (for eating) sold on its own, cookie dough ice cream, cookie dough cake, cookie dough shakes, cookie dough flavored bars and so on.

    This is a first I've heard about coke float. Root beer float is quite popular and familiar for most people. Pumpkin pies are not made from large pumpkins used to carved for Halloween. Pumpkin pies are usually made from smaller pumpkins, and mostly eaten on Thanksgiving, not Halloween. My kids prefer s'mores during camp. It's nostalgic. My kids enjoy toasting their marshmallows at the camp fire. Like everyone have said, caramel apple is better to slice in quarters and then eat it. The only thing I don't like about it is the apple gets soggy from the caramel after awhile. By the way, that's a lot of cookie dough. I personally don't eat raw cookie dough.
    Now, these desserts are not eaten on a daily basis. Most of these are eaten during a season or an event/occasion. Apple pies and pumpkin pies are usually eaten during Thanksgiving, s'mores during (summer) camp, caramel apple at the fair, root beer floats can be made at home anytime, etc.

    - Apple and pumpkin pie are both Thanksgiving staples. They are usually much thicker (and juicier in the case of the apple pie) than that and you eat it with a fork. Whipped cream and vanilla ice cream are popular toppings, though it's common to eat them without.
    - S'mores are easy to make and consistently popular - toasted marshmallow and milk chocolate (Hershey's) sandwiched between a pair of graham crackers. Ideally, you make them whenever you have a fire and the ingredients (ex: camping during summer, around a fireplace during winter), so the marshmallow should be still warm and the chocolate should be slightly melted.
    - Caramel apples are great, usually found at carnivals and fairs, but are a pain to eat. I've found a fork helps to balance it while eating it, in the traditional form, but it can also be in the form of dipped apple slices.
    - I've never heard of a "coke float", but root beer floats are common (despite the name, "root beer" is a type of soda made from the root bark of sassafras trees). A "float" is made by simply topping a drink with vanilla ice cream.
    - I've heard of banana pudding, but I don't live in a part of the country where it is popular. They're really more of a southern thing.
    - Cookie dough is more a flavor than anything (ex: "cookie dough ice cream" is just vanilla with cookie chunks), and children are discouraged from eating actual raw cookie dough because of the health risk (raw eggs and flour). You can buy "edible cookie dough", but it's not really "supposed to be eaten" in that form - it's just less of a health risk in case any of it does gets eaten prior to baking.

    @sovereigndawn2546 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Americans adopted their own version, derived from Dutch settlers way back in the colonial days!
