This really helped me support my wife during her labor. She labored for 33 hours and was pushing for 3. The baby was sunny side up and she was about to give up and what I learned in this video helped me keep her centered and focused. Thank you very much for the great advice
Another tip for the birth parter is : use the love you share for each other. Love can help her feel supported, and it can help trigger the love hormone, Oxytocin, which will help labour progress. When Mamma feels relaxed and supported she will release more Endorphins, nature’s pain killers!
Since my son-in-law will be deployed during the birth of their child, I will be my daughter's coach. Your video was a helpful reminder for me. All of my deliveries were short and fast. I hope my daughter's is too!
As someone that experienced obstetric violence with my previous labor, if I don't feel safe in my surroundings I don't need to be smothered with cuddles. I need my support person to advocate for my right to evidenced based care and informed consent
If you’re going natural and have the ability, I would suggest looking into maybe touring birthing centers not hospital birthing center but birthing centers. I have personally experienced more personalized care with greater attention to what was going on, ways to help, my health and nutrition, what’s going on with baby, and consent. They want so much consent it makes me chuckle, literally. “I need to get your pulse. Can I touch your arm?” It makes me chuckle every time. Even my leg cramps. My OBGYN would say that’s apart of pregnancy when I told them. My midwife, asked me if I’m having them then told me I need more magnesium. I started taking that, they went away instantly. I could go on with examples. If you can, you may want to look into midwifery care and birthing centers.
This is why I birth at home unassisted. Just my husband and kids. After two really bad hospital births and 3 amazing home births it’s definitely been the right choice for me. Can’t wait for my 4th home birth in April!
My best friend is about to have her second baby and I am her backup birth person. Your video is a godsend for me who has no kids and knows nothing about birth. So helpful and clear. Now I have notes I can follow to help her the best I can. Thank you. 💖
I am 2 months pregnant with my first baby. When my boyfriend and I first met he had mentioned to me that he did not want to have kids and if that was something I wanted then we wouldn't work. At the time I didnt want to have children either so 7 years later (2 months ago) when I found out I was pregnant you can imagine that I was scared to tell my boyfriend. Surprisingly though 7 years being together has made our love for each other incredibly strong so when I finally got the courage to tell him I was pregnant he instantly got to work on cleaning out our spare bedroom and talking about things we need to do to get ready for our baby. He has been completely understanding caring and loving. He has watched your video and sent this to me which made me love him so much more (which I didnt even know was possible because I love him more then anything in the world) you're videos has helped us and helped him support me better which has made me so much more excited for our baby rather then scared when I first found out. Thank you so much for these informational videos we love watching them! Thank you for everything you do! 😍💙💙💙💙
I had a euphoric medication free birth earlier today and our 2nd daughter arrived safe and sound. Thank you for your guidance! I made my partner watch this video with me today. Turns out I didn't need him to do most of the things you suggest but it actually helped me recognise the stages when I was going through them! I felt like a superwoman at the end of it and he knew what to do if I had needed it. Thanks again. Keep doing what you're doing.
Can I add one more thing? Partner's take the lead. Take inciative. For example, if she's hungry, don't ask her what she wants 'always' just make her something she likes. THINK. As with other things - in that 8th month mark and after. It gets exhausting making decisions so make some executive ones and be open to feedback. From a woman who is in here 8th month, healthy and taking care of business - to my partner and other men out there, with love.
My wife is being indused on the 31st of this month, Im really nervous, Like shaking. I can only imagine how she feels. I will use this advice on that day, Thank you!

Almost 30 weeks here, 🎉watching all of these and positive unmedicated birth vlogs to try to remind myself that birth is beautiful and my body is made to do this. My mom had her 5 babies before 38 weeks. I was born at 36+5. My cousins also gave birth before term. Everyone on my mom’s side. So I want to be ready early JUST in case😂.
I can't afford a doula ...it's just going to be me and my husband and midwife and nurses ...hope these videos will help us even though we don't have a doula
@@laurenstringer7 Do you know any resources for finding a midwife or doula in Montana? I can pay, I just can’t find any. I can only seem to find the ones I had 6 years ago…. whom took my money and did nothing, then ushered me into an unplanned csection for FTP. ☹️
Thank you! We finished a great live birth class but this summarizes all the key points as we are getting ready for the big day around the corner. Amazing crash course - shared with my husband.
I haven’t watched the video in its entirety yet, but this is my first baby. 35 weeks +1 right now. And my Dad and my Sister will be with me through labor, not delivery. The dad is not in the picture. So I hope this could apply?
My husband and I are following the course Built to birth (and it's really really good, I'm very happy with it), but something like this video and the 5 tips to help labor progress are missing there... =)

The most important thing is to follow her cues, and have really thick skin. Try to anticipate her basic needs like food and drink and rest, and bring them before she asks. I came here looking for something to show my partner so he would know how to support me, he refused to watch it. I’m giving birth in about a week and I have nobody to support me. I’m so scared. I don’t want to do this anymore.
Hi Bridget. Do you have any Dula friends in the Santa Cruz area? My friend is looking for one and is having a hard time finding many options. Love your videos. :)
Pharmacy technician here, fentanyl is actually the main pain medication in epidurals as well. It is one of the only safe opioids to take during pregnancy.
I'm trying to support my girlfriend whose In her third trimester but I have been told by her that I am not doing enough. I'm trying to work more because she can't work, I'm listening to podcasts and watching TH-cam, I'm cleaning and cooking and sleeping on the couch. But because I can't get off work for a prenatal class made everything blow up. I don't know what to do but I'm burnt out and feel low. I ask every day if she drinks enough water or make sure she eats but now I'm being told I don't do anything. I'm so lost and dead.
I cant c my previous long comment. But my elder brother went thru the same thing as u. Its a phase. Stay strong. My husband will go thru the same in 2 months.
There was no time rule for me. For both pregnancies first waters broke, second I had my first contraction and that contraction just never stopped. Ever 😂😂😂
So I got a taste of how bad contractions can be even though I got sent back home. Yeah, no. There is no love language that could make me do this naturally . No amount of support that would make me enjoy this experience naturally - it’s sadistic. I COMMEND the ones who do it naturally but IT IS NOT FOR ME! And I’ve tried a lot of things, the last thing I will try is eating dates and pineapple to help the cervix but 🤷🏻♀️ This back pain is out of this world and I am 40 weeks and 4 days. I’ll be getting induced this Friday night 🙏🏼
I wasn't even thinking about pooping while pushing lol when it came down to it i really didnt care if i did or not but they couldve atleast told me! They didnt really wipe me enough i still had blood and poop on me!😂
I'm sorry to hear that. My partner sent this to me and I've got it playing while I'm working. I think it's incredibly inconsiderable and honestly concerning that he isn't willing to spend 20 minutes on something this important. That's definitely a red flag for potential disinterest in the actual birthing room and postpartum
No. I have a certified nurse midwife (CNM) who does my prenatal check ups. My CNM replaced my OBGYN by choice bc I am considered a low risk pregnancy. A CNM is most similar to a doctor and goes thru rigorous state certified testing. A doula has no state or federal certifications but can provide a wealth of knowledge to help mom and the birthing process.
Mostly because it's very important and encouraged to have one. A birth partner doesn't have to be your childs father, it can be a friend, or your mom, someone you really trust. No one should give birth/ labor alone.
I don't want my partner to see any part of this process with bodily fluids. I'm also scared that if he sees a baby come out he won't be able to think of me in a sexual way. That's really important to me and feeling safe in our relationship. So, I'm looking for a doula.
Yes, surrogacy exists for example, where your 'birth partner' may not be a husband or boyfriend if you're being a surrogate for another family. Or wives who had one partner use a donor so they could have a kid. Hence, birth partner.
@@zacsimillion fathers, mothers, girlfriends, wives, best friends, etc. There are plenty of possible support people that can come from various situations. It would be far more than 1% and a change of vocabulary to include everyone isn't doing any harm.

I wasn't even thinking about pooping while pushing lol when it came down to it i really didnt care if i did or not but they couldve atleast told me! They didnt really wipe me enough i still had blood and poop on me!😂
You are so amazing and i love how bright you are dispite of how youthful you look
Cyndi Tran this is an agist comment.
Why not just say " nice video"?
Wish there was a short version, was hard to keep him engaged and get to skip to each chapter
Your man sucks
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. But FENTANYL??? Nope!!
That's what's in an epidural
Is Doula a midwife?
Doulas are there for physical and emotional support, not medical.
I hope my boyfriend helps me out...
Isn’t the father usually the birthing partner?
Sometimes, for whatever reason, the biological father cannot or will not be involved..
Great information, talking is WAY too fast though
Lost me when she said it's fun when she's pushing. Lol
♥️♥️
Never have I heard anyone ever say "I have to 💩" is music to one's ear. 🤣🤣🤣
I’m sorry I did not listen I was so busy getting ready 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😢
NOT A SINGLE TH-camR HAS MADE A VIDEO ABOUT BIRTHING WITHOUT A BIRTH PARTNER AND ITS INFURIATING.
Mostly because it's very important and encouraged to have one. A birth partner doesn't have to be your childs father, it can be a friend, or your mom, someone you really trust. No one should give birth/ labor alone.
Im gonna ask her if she remembered to turn the oven off.
You have a death wish 😂
I don't want my partner to see any part of this process with bodily fluids. I'm also scared that if he sees a baby come out he won't be able to think of me in a sexual way. That's really important to me and feeling safe in our relationship. So, I'm looking for a doula.
Just say husband
A birth partner isn’t always their spouse🖤
“birth partner”
Yes, surrogacy exists for example, where your 'birth partner' may not be a husband or boyfriend if you're being a surrogate for another family. Or wives who had one partner use a donor so they could have a kid. Hence, birth partner.
@@Atalanie you don’t change vocabulary based on 1% of the situations. This entire video is geared towards fathers and should be titled as such
@@zacsimillion fathers, mothers, girlfriends, wives, best friends, etc. There are plenty of possible support people that can come from various situations. It would be far more than 1% and a change of vocabulary to include everyone isn't doing any harm.
@@zacsimillion my birth partner will be my mother, not my husband. My mom is an RN and my husband is old fashioned and squeamish
You mean your husband? Lol "birth partner".
Not everyone has a husband
@@CherokeeBird absolute morons on here, i swear haha
