    Excellent video. Only annoying thing is seeing a couple of muppets have disliked it? Why do they bother. If they wanted a video on flower arranging they're on the wrong page.
    I'm definitely saving this one as it'll be extremely useful when I start my forthcoming project.

    Thanks Danny! I have several blocks that needed to be bored/sleeved, but now I know where to look for cracks. Hopefully a couple of my engines are salvageable. Can't wait for more flathead content!

      That one dislike is from someone who had one and is now kicking themselves for giving it away thinking it was junk.

    Great information.
    The intro and outro music was a bit too loud though.

      @@elainesoliz2205 Agreed, intro and outro music could go down 5dB or so. Danny's volume was great throughout the vid, but you could lower the background music a tiny bit more too. Was still good though!

    "Where to look for cracks on a flathead ford." Waves hand over entire motor.
    I have three uncracked 8BA's, but went through 20 blocks to find them.

    You’re doing well Danny. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Is there any kind of marker or indicator we could carry with us that would help make the crack more visible when inspecting at a junk yard or swap meet?

    My nephew just bought a 51 Ford Flathead Ford door it's in beautiful shape bullshit but I noticed the other day he was running it, and I noticed antifreeze bubbling by a headbolt The engine was supposed to be rebuilt and has less than 2000 miles on it away that was one I believe .He bought it as is it is from a dealership in Michigan where we had it shipped to Philadelphia, I don't think he put 20 miles on the car and I noticed that, It's a shame He spent $20000 for it.. Just about 3 weeks ago But if that sounds like a head gasket issue let me know kindly thank you...

    • @MrDanielSoliz
      @MrDanielSoliz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not to worry, that’s common on anything with studs. We always put sealer on all studs that go into the block and seal the nuts. Occasionally we still get a little bit of antifreeze up one of the threads. That’s why when we run them in on the stand we run sealer in the cooling system. All he has to do is run a good sealer and he will be ok. It’s not a head gasket.

    Cool info! Does grinding off all the sharp edges to reduce stress risers help prevent cracking? Or do most cracks happen internally or regardless? Thanks!

      Dregs Garage We do that at the shop regularly. Danny learned that process as a child and has been doing it ever since.
