- A full unedited 18 hole round on designer Andrew Jones' beautiful rendition of Augusta National Golf Club on Links 2003 for PC. In my opinion this is still easily the greatest PC golf game ever made, and the user community is still very active 19 years later with plenty of excellent new courses still being released pretty often.

I like the realistic effect of sounding like they're talking on CB radios.
My dad had this game growing up and I remember our computer running so slow with it installed. I still think the graphics aren't too bad for its time.
I had every version of Links back in the day. Had every course that was available. Had so much fun playing on the Links tour! Thanks for the video!

Andrew Jones and Mike Jones went on to create Perfect Golf in 2015 which I still play. I consider it the best golf game ever released for the PC and has the absolute best mouse control I have ever played, real time swing mouse or RTSM. It incorporates the swing path and tempo of a real golf swing. There were hundreds of courses rendered by players including most of the iconic real courses. There is still a community that plays it with weekly tournaments. It can still be purchased on Steam. Unfortunately Perfect Golf was bought by Trackman in 2019 or 2020 with Andrew and Mike moving there. They now are in charge of the creation of courses for the Trackman simulator. It was a real shame that the development of Perfect Golf did not continue after that. Even in it's present state it is a way more realistic and better game than the so called golf games put out like 2K21 and 2K23. It will be interesting to see how the new EA PGA Tour game in the spring of 2023 compares to PG.
I did not know that....I tried Perfect Golf back when it still had the Nicklaus branding but I really had a hard time getting into it, it just didn't feel quite right for me. I will revisit it though.
The hours I spent playing all those courses that others created. I used to pay to support the developers of those course.
The commentary is awesome, even better than modern day golf games
Sooo much better....of course it was a LOT of work for the folks who put it together. They really nailed it, you almost never get a comment that doesn't fit really well.
@NostalgiaTripMedia it looks like they got it spot on. I am into Mean 18, it has a course architect program and I recreated Fox Creek with it, also currently recreating Cherry Hills
I didn't know this version and I am generally skeptical about early 3D games, I was about to get Links 1998 but then I trusted these comments and got 2003..... AND I AM SO HAPPY I DID!!! I'm loving every second of it, it is so relaxing and smooth
That's great! When you factor in how many courses are available and how active the community still is, it's hard to top.

@@Simone-xe9cw looks like the soundscripts are still available at heymartin.com.....as for the golfers, not sure, I have never looked for any.
Links 2001 was the greatest golf video game ever made...I had 2003 also, but it wasn't nearly as good.
I really miss 3-click golf games
This one is still the best as far as I'm concerned.

Use to play this all the time.
I've been playing this golf sim since the Access days, and it's still the best golf sim for the PC, and it's free with more courses, also for free, than you can shake your putter at.

Games like this and NFL 2K5 really make me wonder how developers figured out the key to smooth and realistic movement in games over 20 years ago and today’s games with all the new technology don’t even come to close this
Because they are animations from real people
We had (cable-bound) MoCa systems since the late 70s / early 80s and some animators are quite good at doing this sort of stuff with traditional keyframe animation.

Did you have trouble getting it to run on Win10? I did the patches, compatibilty modes and still no dice.
Actually no issues at all that I can remember.
I have just install links 2003 and import the Augusta golf course from Andrew Jones , and I don't see peoples ( fans ) on the golf course , maybe I don't have the good version of the golf course , is it possible to give me the course ID of your Augusta National version please ?
It's a setting within the game itself, you have to turn on tournament objects to get the crowds.
won't run in Windows 11 for me. Had it working in 10
