Is this the one with the alien easter egg? My grandpa used to show me the alien when I was little 🥹.
Links 2001 was the greatest golf video game ever made...I had 2003 also, but it wasn't nearly as good.
My dad had this game growing up and I remember our computer running so slow with it installed. I still think the graphics aren't too bad for its time.
Games like this and NFL 2K5 really make me wonder how developers figured out the key to smooth and realistic movement in games over 20 years ago and today’s games with all the new technology don’t even come to close this
Because they are animations from real people
We had (cable-bound) MoCa systems since the late 70s / early 80s and some animators are quite good at doing this sort of stuff with traditional keyframe animation.
thank you for sharing! but which Soundscript are you using here?
Just looked and it is still available on heymartin.com....the one on this video is called tksAugusta2007 under the 2003 Scripts tab.
thks bro, will figure it out later.
I bought it boxed. Can I play on windows 10? PlEASE help! :)
Did you have trouble getting it to run on Win10? I did the patches, compatibilty modes and still no dice.
Actually no issues at all that I can remember.
My first job ever as a kid was working as a caddy at W.S. Beautiful course, and I cut my teeth on The Game there.
Use to play this all the time.
Glad I missed this dumpster fire.
I have just install links 2003 and import the Augusta golf course from Andrew Jones , and I don't see peoples ( fans ) on the golf course , maybe I don't have the good version of the golf course , is it possible to give me the course ID of your Augusta National version please ?
It's a setting within the game itself, you have to turn on tournament objects to get the crowds.
won't run in Windows 11 for me. Had it working in 10
Where I can find these custom sounds events, like the commentary?
looks like they are still available here www.heymartin.com/lsa/soundscripts.htm
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 thank you!
How do you get the commentators in the game?
This game is terrible! 2 much rubber near the outlanes and the challenges are way too fast. Music is pathetic
The commentary is awesome, even better than modern day golf games
Sooo much better....of course it was a LOT of work for the folks who put it together. They really nailed it, you almost never get a comment that doesn't fit really well.
@NostalgiaTripMedia it looks like they got it spot on. I am into Mean 18, it has a course architect program and I recreated Fox Creek with it, also currently recreating Cherry Hills
I like the realistic effect of sounding like they're talking on CB radios.
Man that's my favourite table ever. I know the real table so well, how do you think this compares, really honestly? Do you ever get past the sensation that it's flat?
Honestly haven't played the real one much and it's been a long time (and Fun House has honestly never been one of my faves). Virtual Pinball and real pinball are two different things for sure and always will be, but the VPX creators especially now are doing truly incredible things and I think it's convincing enough to be a lot of fun on its own terms.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 Funhouse holds a lot of nostalgic value for me. I get what you're saying. Love the idea of it all.
Andrew Jones and Mike Jones went on to create Perfect Golf in 2015 which I still play. I consider it the best golf game ever released for the PC and has the absolute best mouse control I have ever played, real time swing mouse or RTSM. It incorporates the swing path and tempo of a real golf swing. There were hundreds of courses rendered by players including most of the iconic real courses. There is still a community that plays it with weekly tournaments. It can still be purchased on Steam. Unfortunately Perfect Golf was bought by Trackman in 2019 or 2020 with Andrew and Mike moving there. They now are in charge of the creation of courses for the Trackman simulator. It was a real shame that the development of Perfect Golf did not continue after that. Even in it's present state it is a way more realistic and better game than the so called golf games put out like 2K21 and 2K23. It will be interesting to see how the new EA PGA Tour game in the spring of 2023 compares to PG.
I did not know that....I tried Perfect Golf back when it still had the Nicklaus branding but I really had a hard time getting into it, it just didn't feel quite right for me. I will revisit it though.
I had every version of Links back in the day. Had every course that was available. Had so much fun playing on the Links tour! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for checking it out! I'll get around to some other courses sooner or later.
That is so cool, how did you get that game on there?
You have to hook up an external PC, this is a great guide....wagnerstechtalk.com/alppcsetup/
The hours I spent playing all those courses that others created. I used to pay to support the developers of those course.
this seems like a fun table i might have to get this one lol
It's awesome probably my favorite version of MB
Been playing 100% OTG fx3 on my ALP since it got it a week or so ago. I need to bite the bullet and figure out VPX etc
hi, are you still satisfied with your atgames legends pinball? I hesitate before buying one because several people have had problems. Thanks for the videos!
Thank you! I would say yes even with some of the issues I have had, it is worth the 700 I paid....but as I've said before that's only if you already have a PC suitable for hooking up to it for VPX and FX3.
Where you take the table? I'm with Steam and Vaccaria and Fx3. But Taito ?? : - )
This one is running on Visual Pinball 10 (VPX).
I didn't know this version and I am generally skeptical about early 3D games, I was about to get Links 1998 but then I trusted these comments and got 2003..... AND I AM SO HAPPY I DID!!! I'm loving every second of it, it is so relaxing and smooth <3
That's great! When you factor in how many courses are available and how active the community still is, it's hard to top.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 can you recommend a soundscript and where to get some golfers?
@@Simone-xe9cw looks like the soundscripts are still available at heymartin.com.....as for the golfers, not sure, I have never looked for any.
Playing this now on my switch with a TV in portrait mode. Really want a dedicated Cab though and am strongly considering the at games. Any regrets? Would you buy it again? I’m considering all the mods and upgrades of course lol. Part of me says I should just stick to my Nintendo switch.
I definitely still think it is worth it if you can get it for 700 or less and especially if you already have a PC powerful enough to run FX3/VPX. If you don't, then that's another big chunk of cash to have to add to it and something to consider. I bought the laptop for PCVR as well, it is pretty much used only for it and pinball.
Do haptics work?
Unfortunately, no. With OTG they weren't super-strong even when they worked, but you could at least feel some vibration. Nothing now....at this point I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware issue.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 that's disappointing. I'd buy an alp if haptics actually worked while playing fx3 via pc
Thanks for making this video. This is one of my favorite tables and I was bummed it's not available by default, but seeing the performance through PC is great. The Arcade1up machine seems kinda bad compared to this one
Hello I am French I own an at games pinball Can you make me a video how to install vpx and tables?
Hello! I would not be too good at that I don't think. Try this link, Wagner's site is pretty much the best guide out there for ALP. th-cam.com/video/Nv_IIkXdhAk/w-d-xo.html
Hello, Je n'ai pas les commentaires des speakers que la foule qui applaudissent. Comment les inclures les commentaires. Merci.
Are you able to use the AtGames plunger? It wasnt making full context with the ball for me.
It has generally been pretty solid for me....not 100% perfect but certainly more than good enough. Were your issues in FX3, VPX or both? And thank you for the sub!
wow, that sound output is amazing!! what are you using for that?? :) and is it something inside the table itself, etc? thanks!
Thanks! Nothing special just the built-in speakers on the ALP turned up to 90. Recorded on an iPhone SE 2020.
Might be a dumb question, but how did you get the back glass to work?
When setting up baller installer you can designate which connected screen you want for backglass. In an ideal world the VIBS board lets you display it on the ALP backglass, but mine doesn't work and I just don't have the energy to try to fix it. The laptop screen works out better for the format of my videos anyway. Anyway hope that helps.
Was it difficult to get VPX working with LEGENDS setup? I have steam working on it, but vpx seems like it would be rough to get working.
It definitely takes some work, but the Baller Installer is the way to go.....this link has everything you should need. wagnerstechtalk.com/alppcsetup/
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 Thanks so much!
Awesome video. I just got my legends pinball. Can’t wait to try this stuff
Thank you! Getting it all set up does take some work, but it is worth it.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 definitely looks worth it. I really love the games it comes with. The tatito tables I downloaded not so much
Nice table
Looks great! Thanks for posting. Wondering how you got the pic and dmd on the laptop next to you? I almost prefer that than having something on the backglass (easier to see). Thanks
Thank you! When setting up Baller Installer you just designate the laptop screen for the backglass.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 Thanks!!
I've been playing this golf sim since the Access days, and it's still the best golf sim for the PC, and it's free with more courses, also for free, than you can shake your putter at.
agree 1000%
Awesome. Do you think you'll get the VIBS board?
ha well......I actually have 2. The first attempt did not go well and ended up dimming my backglass to the point where you can barely see it. Got another one, tried a different cable to the backglass, didn't help. So I'm just living with the laptop screen as my backglass. From what I've read it may be a problem with the main board and I just don't feel like dealing with it.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 Fair enough. It's probably easy to make TH-cam videos like that, anyways.
@@RickGrundy yes I've gotten pretty used to it and it does work well for these videos.
I'm not able to use this table on the ALP. The ball looks like it's transporting from place to place, it doesn't roll smoothly like I'm seeing here. Any idea what you did to get this table to work so smoothly?
That is strange, I have never run into it. Is that the only FX3 game that shows that issue?
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 The Indiana Jones table has the same problem. I wonder if it's my computer.
@@RickGrundy Yes sounds like maybe something on your PC. Since I haven't run into it I can't really suggest much to try except maybe turn VSync off in FX3 if you haven't already. Also I really don't run anything else on this laptop, only pinball and Oculus VR stuff, maybe another app is using some resources on your PC?
You build the pc?
No it's an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop.
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 How do you like it?

Looks great
Thanks for the video! When you're gaming laptop has only 1 HDMI port, do you have any idea how to send the video to the backglass through the VIB board?
Thanks for watching! VIBS board issues are what messed up my backglass so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but I think you have to have at least 2 video outputs.
I have noticed that the background music doesn't change, why is that? One of the great things I love about this game is the selection of 50's music that it played. Outside of that minor gripe, the gameplay and and ball physics look great. In fact, when the game first comes up and it shows the real game and playfield, I thought it was going to morph to a more SGI playfield, but it didn't! So they used a photographic image of a real playfield. I'm impressed! It is obvious that Creech is one of my favorite pinballs in real life and it probably would be my first pick for a real machine, but I have to say, virtual pinball comes a long way. The maintenance on a real machine can be a deal breaker in itself as a broken ramp could cost you a few hundred dollars if a suitable reproduction part hasn't been made for it. I was initially looking into the Arcade 1up line of pinball machines, but I have to say, I am liking the higher resolution and uploading capabilities of the Atgames pinball machine. It is closer to full size too. But this...having Creature From The Black Lagoon on it? Yeah, that might just seal the deal.
Nice round mate! This game still rocks!
Thank you! And yes it does!
@@nostalgiatripmedia6937 just one question related to the video: do you cut the scenes under rendering parts of the game in editing or it is recorded in realtime? On my pc rendering of the scenes requires a lot of time, I suppose it is normal due to a 2003 game. regards and thanks to your time
@@pupattolino75 no editing, just realtime recording of the round. I guess it depends on video card even though it is an older game. Thanks for watching!
