It's crazy the car is still around on his same plattform.
At the other way, the plattform is proven dead reliable, the engine is proven reliable, the components are reliable, the gearbox is reliable and the car is fun to drive.
This is the no nonsense car for the no nonsense guy. Simply looks cool and performs well.

Wouldn’t ever buy new but have owned 3 used Lexuses all with the 3.5L motor and awd
    (2012 is350 awd, 2015 RC350 awd fsport , 2017 rc350 awd fsport) ranging from 70,000 miles to 150,000 miles
I’ve never even seen a check engine light or error message. I’ve never had a break down.
These cars while a bit dated and lacking in tech compared to BMW and Benz more than make up for it with reliability and value retention. The AWD system also performs really well. There is a reason a 10 year old lexus is the same piece as a 4-6 year old German car.
If you drive a lot and don’t have time to be in and out of the dealership or mechanic then toyota/Lexus is always the way to go.

Either they got it so right in 2006, that they just did minor updates to cosmetics, as the drivetrain in awd guise is no different or just lazy... Too bad no manual transmission option in 350, since there is a LSD now. Also wished there was a hybrid and an shooting brake wagon option to add some spice. But if it ain't broke, why fix it I suppose...

I drove one recently as a loaner while my 2016 GS350 F-Sport was being serviced & loved the car very much. I previously had a 2017 IS200t F-Sport & I'm glad they didn't change too much in terms of the interior design & the driving position, but they for sure improved the handling. Makes me really miss my IS which I owned that car for just under two years, but had to go back to a bigger car.

This version appears to not changed much since 2014. That will be a full decade once the new model year starts in a couple of months. Surprising Lexus has allowed this to occur. These are incredibly good looking but i wish they had more-modern drivetrains. I dont mean to hate on the fantastic 2GR V6, but competitors have 2.0L 4cyl engines with similar power yet vastly better fuel economy now.
I'd love to see that new Tacoma 2.4L hybrid turbo-4 in this (if it fits), a 326hp/465lb-ft performance-hybrid drivetrain would make for a potentially appealing M340i or S4 competitor. The 416hp/442lb-ft 3.4L V35 TTV6 would also be AWESOME to see, but that probably wouldnt fit in the IS.
I do remember seeing rumors that the Mazda inline-6 would find its way into future Lexus products, though Lexus is running out of time to introduce a new IS that isn't electric.
