If Jay Miner was still with us today he would be so proud to see his baby finally producing and displaying these types of games that you have reviewed up your channel, it goes to show that the Amiga always had this potential but the programmers of the time couldn't get the most out of it or maybe that was a marketing thing, I say thankyou to independent teams once again coming along and showing what our "friend" is all about in 2020. Three cheers for the Amiga, hip hip hooray X3, nice video loved it.
Thankyou so much. I've been an Amiga owner since 1987, I'm 50 now, the platform, aka "my baby" has always kept me me using "her" on a daily basis albeit my expanded A1200, for everything even more so now as am using XCAD for designing Raspberry Pi arcade cabinets. Long live our sweetheart.
I just stumbled upon this video, having owned an Amiga 500 and 1200 as a kid. I’m stunned to see native Amiga games being made still, and very high quality ones. Thanks for the video!
Only Amiga makes this possible ! Like, 25+ years after Commodore's death, this sublime computer is still receiving so much love from devs, demomakers, players. Thanks for your videos, by the way.
YO ! JOE ! (you must play this game mates !) I really enjoyed this video format, top Notch review, for me, I have my first Amiga 500 + in 1990, yeah, very late but I was a poor student lol !! but after I get 1200/CD32 and nowadays I upgrade my CD32 TO THE MAXXXX ! , like other said, it's really awesome to see our beloved computer been revival with talented programmer, graphic artist, musicians etc... I follow you since about 2 years ! already !! , I sold my computers in 1994 but bought again my CD32 in 2016 and now I so happy with it, she keep me the teenage spirit and love for these feeling that Commodore was more than a computer, a friend, something who show the best of our imagination. Agree, Jay Miner is happy in the heavens and he look at you :) cheers. The Amiga Community (in France too) is magic !! Now I need to get Wizz, such superb game :) Thairacer.
Excellent video Bill!! Thanks again for mentioning Scourge of the Underkind! I know it couldn't have been easy picking out games to feature from the ever expanding list of new games for Amiga! :D :D It's one hell of a time to be a fan!
My pleasure Wayne! I am so excited for SOTU. I am still stressed about my game choices, lol. Now that I watch the video again I wish I played Inviya. UGH. Well, I will do a nice stream when it comes out.
Thanks so much Jamie! I hope you like this selection. I am so stressed about leaving stuff out! Looking forward to playing some 2 play Metro Siege with you!
It is incredible to see such fantastic games still possible on an OCS Amiga. Jumping from an 8 bit Atari to an Amiga was like horse and buggy to a Tesla. Computer hardware was improving and evolving in massive strides; a truly amazing time to be a technology enthusiast!
Great introduction to the new games out on the Amiga.. I could not miss the Antec902 case in the background and how i wish i still had mine now Bill :)
Dear friend Bill, It is amazing review of AMIGA games, especially for river ride AMIGA edition which it looks with enhanced graphics and sound effects more than classic known on other game consoles. Thank you for your efforts, time and your AMIGA shared thoughts. Sincerely yours MOHAMAD
Great to hear from you Mohamad! I hope you are well. Thanks for the kind words as always. Bridge Strike the River Raid clone is excellent. There is also another one I didn't mention called "River Raid Reloaded" that is excellent as well. Thanks for all the support!
Fantastic! And you never got old!? Lucky you :) Btw, are there any chance to connect Amiga video outputs to PC and record what you see on Amiga, without any external video card (I have video card that records in HD and in 60fps but can’t find it atm), and currently I have only GeForce RTX 2080 and Wireless display (Mirror casts, do any Wifi or Bluetooth device (Android and iOS)) can be seen on TV / PC and record screen. What about Amiga, old video tape player / recorder? I have all possible converters (digital, analogue) but can’t figure out recording Analogue devices...
Wow glad to see that games are still produced for the Amiga, I recently hooked up my A1200 to my TV and fired up Hired Guns. Sadly, I quit after the 7th disk swap...
I guess the arguments in primary school over what was better, Amiga, snes or megadrive are once and truly settled. I'm in awe of how much following the Amiga has to this day, the community is buzzing and I can't wait to receive my 1200 back from being recapped. New games in 2020. Fantastic, really.
Thanks for showing us these new games bill. There were some very impressive titles. Absolutely hours of fun. If I had to spend my pocket money on only 1 game as I did back in the day it would probably be Rotator. Cheers Bill 🕹👍
Or maybe the Turricans: the most iconic Amiga games along with Shadow of the Beast (diamonds were actually valuable because 100 of them gave you a credit). They were also prevalent in Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands, big Amiga hits and excellent conversions.
@@TheGuruMeditation - We keep a list of over 30 new games releases each year, and I couldnt top your choices. Lots of great games here. Btw, does anyone know whats the status of Scourge of the Underkind? Feels like I have been waiting for that one for a long while.
Thanks Doma! I know the graphic artist Wayne Ashworth has started posting updates again. He says they are working hard on it annd making progress. But I have no idea when it will come out. It will probably be a little while. The Shadows of Sergoth and Inviya will be out soon
Hi! I can give you an update. Development continues on S.O.T.U and we're making excellent progress on adding polish to the game. A majority of the game is now done, we've done a ton of fine tuning over the last few months...so much so now it plays about the best we can get it to play. It will provide a challenge for those who want one, that is for sure. Thanks for mentioning us Bill! We really appreciate it!
The Guru Meditation hey AmigaBill what are you using to stream and capture your Amiga footage, an Elgato by any chance? I just got a Elgato Game Capture HD60 S and have been playing with for about half an hour and pretty impressed with it so far. Only issue Iam having which Iam sure can be fixed via a software setting is getting the noise from my joystick when pressing the buttons. Iam using a DIY Joystick which I made with a 3d printed case and arcade parts.
@@TheGuruMeditation Thanks AmigaBill, the Amiga Joysticks are hard to come by here in Australia and arn't cheap when they do. Well Iam going to have to do some more experimenting to get the elgato working 100% but atleast it is working.
Hi guys. I was just wondering. Do ye think it would be possible to set up a Cyrus Plus motherboard inside one of a1200.net's cases with suitable graphics card and perhaps a laptop CD/DVD drive, hard drive etc? I'm wondering as the idea of someday having an AmigaOne X5000 appeals to me (if some day I could afford it), but for me it's not really an Amiga unless all in a case like the 1200 or 500 since that's what I grew up with.
Can anyone recommend a good place to send my A1200 for cleaning and replacement of components, it still works but the audio output signal is a bit hit and miss and the case needs a good clean, UK
Hey I am a Game developer for Xbox, PC, Android and I used to have an amiga 500 back in the day. I'm currently using C# with Microsoft Studio. Id love to write games for the amiga ,but don't know 68000 is there a way to use C# ?..Thanks
What Amiga do you recommend for playing these new games? I had a 1200 a few years ago but sold it but now there’s new stuff I’d like to get back into it.
Thanks! Unfortunately the place I got it isn't around any more, but I will probably make my own. The insert Kickstart/Workbench image is copywritten though, so I don't know if I can
Rotator looks to be heavily inspired by Wizball. If you haven't played it, you should, but if you do, play the original C64 version. None of the ports for other platforms (including the Amiga, sadly) did it any justice. I still play the C64 version from time to time.
It's also very reminiscent of Cauldron 2 on 8-bit computers. The game where you control and constantly rebounding pumpkin, exploring the a witch castle in search of some magic iitems. I clearly recall the witch's cackling each time I lost a live, which happened *many* times :)
My opinion is the same across all retro console 'new' games... don't even bother if it's the same rehash with basic features, at this stage everyone should be pushing the machines to their limits. Nobody wants to play a side scrolling platformer that struggles to display frames.
but hey it's a triple a game it looks like a trashy phone game you're running around collecting jewels and you have to give it to the woman AAA game okay
