Hey guys hope you enjoy this one! This is my favorite video we've ever created so wanted to bring it back for you all---hope you enjoy and put it to good use!! Thanks for being here with us and watching--I appreciate you all!
All my question is answered by this video..no hip rotation and my hand start to bend during the follow through..my question is which one is moving first hip or hand
Follower of you and Saguto golf here. This video is spot on. All I focus on now is 1. weight forward....2. left arm straight. That's it......been golfing over 40 years. It has transformed my game. The repeatability is remarkable! Been on this path a little over a month. My highest score has been 78. Not to mention, no mind clutter with countless swing thoughts!
One of your best video. As far as I am concerned this and the take away are probably the two most important things in the golf swing. A good take away takes you naturally more or less to a good back swing and from there a pro told me once to think about what you wanna do. And what you wanna do is exactly what you’re explaining in that video. The follow trough with your head staying behind. For some reason when you tell your brain where and how you wanna be after the fallow through then everything from the top of the back swing goes smooth and natural therefore consistent. Thank you.
This is such a great video! Going over the body mechanics on HOW to keep your head back while having your arms reached out in the follow through help so much. Thank you!
Great video Eric, really explains the mechanics of a solid swing. But what if you are not flexible enough to let the arms fold behind you? Can you just finish with your arms in front and across your body?
For heaven's sake. Grab that dude in the blue shirt behind you and teach him that drill. 9 times out of 10 in Eric's vids, there is someone behind him who needs exactly what he's teaching.
Personally, my "feel" to get full extension through the shot is to feel the right hip moving toward the target (left in a right-handed player) and UNDER the left hip which makes the left leg extend through impact which make the left side an axis to turn around. If the right hip "stays on the wall" this forces a slide left and a "saggy" left knee through impact which impedes a full turn and makes full extension impossible.
More trail shoulder down (trail side bend) and more arms straight to eliminate the thins...use video feedback to confirm! This video goes over more details... th-cam.com/video/go6E2FVu1G0/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
I’m having a hard time keeping my head centered while also shifting my pressure forward (head moves forward with pressure shift). What’s the key here in terms of lower body pivot?
Hey Barbara hard to say exactly what you need without seeing (send swings in to www.cogorngolf.com if you dont get it sorted so we can see and help) Some of these may help: th-cam.com/video/2eN4MVUJZHU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/vnWHmc1VpfA/w-d-xo.html I would put a club in your sternum and make that point up toward the sky in the follow through as your hips push forward and turn and your head stays back Or put club in line with ball and push hips forward of that as head stays back over You need more EXTENSION and SIDE BEND likely th-cam.com/video/2eN4MVUJZHU/w-d-xo.html
A great video and I agree that if you could only learn one thing, this would be it. I'm sending it to several friends and family that want to play better golf. This concept changed my golf fundamentally when it was explained. I learned part of it as the shoulder-to-shoulder drill. Left shoulder points at the ball then the right shoulder points to where the ball was. If either shoulder misses their mark, mischief occurs. Your excellent description/drill also helps to take the disastrously inaccurate image of a swing "circle" out of the equation. For years I heard that term and consciously tried to draw a circle with the club head. Wrong! Your term "arch" is much better as the swing is really a partial oval with the long edge of the oval aligned down range. Hip movement and arm extension elongate the "circle" into an oval and helps the golfer imagine drawing that long segment with their club. Any attempt to really draw a circle force poor movement. Thanks, and looking forward to exploring your other content.
So am I to feel the hip moving up or am I pushing down from the lead foot? I'm not entirely sure what part of my body is supposed to be moving. I'm trying to push up and away with my lead foot.
Either/both.....see which FEEL produces the correct motion. I could ask this to 10 good players who all do the motion correctly and 5 may say they feel the hip up and 5 say they push into lead foot In reality they are all DOING both regardless of what they FEEL See what FEEL produces the correct motion for you
There is a guy with blue t-shirt in the back that might need your help. He was looking at you around 4:15 then he make a swing around 4:30. He definately need that lesson ;)
The head will always move in the direction of the linear force of the swing. Amateurs head's move up because that's the direction they're swinging and pro's head's move back and down because that's the direction they're swinging.
The image for this video says "Start Downswing Like This" but the video talks mostly about extension in the follow thru. Is this the video you meant to post?
Hey Bill! Great question---yes it is! A lot of the time when you focus on a part of the swing LATER......it directly effects what you do EARLIER to get there. A lot of times when I'm working with someone I'll get there INTENT on the pieces THROUGH the ball and fix those up......and a lot of the pieces as to how they START......improve! The idea is you want to get clear on the END GOALS (where are you going) and by GETTING to those finish spots....it changed your path (what you had to do) to get there. Hope that helps! Thanks for being here with us!
Appreciate the kind words :) Find a good coach to work with in person near you man or come see me or send vids in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see whats going on and fix. Fixing that starts with diagnosing what the root issues are....then you can go to work right away on fixing~!
Hey Agreed! That can be a huge help for all of this! We have worked with lots of golfers over the years....some love the ball between the arms some hate it....lots of ways to get it done! This vid should be teached everywhere… just cured my swing
Love it, Luke!

Appreciate it!! Agreed!!
Fantastic free instruction once again Eric. Thanks so much. What holds me up from improving is a fluid swing and consistency. This should def help!
Hope it serves you well, John! Thanks for the support!

Thanks Joshua!
Thanks for this video. You make this very simplistic and easy to understand..
Thanks Tom!!
Great Video. Thanks Eric. Definitely going to begin practicing this technique.
Thanks Norris! Hope it helps!
Sir the best video for downswing
You are the greatest
Appreciate it :) This is my favorite one we've done!
Great drill, love the progression where you break down the steps. Thank you
Appreciate it!!
Another great video Eric, well done.
But I must admit, watching the video a second time, the kid on the range behind you was hilarious!
Thanks for watching, Fred!
Love it, great class Sir!
Thanks!
Well done! Great video!
Thanks Emmanuel!

Hey Robert! Thank you! I'm not sure I 100% understand what you are asking here can you re phrase for me?
You showcased Tom Saguto a while back. This is so Tom. Excellent
Yes! Always good fun with Tom :)
Great video thank you
Thanks Graham!
Love to see the Bethlehem background!!! I saw you doing a little local coaching this week :) Great tip BTW.
:) Appreciate ya, Ed!
Hi Eric as usual another great video
When I try this I
Constantly big fat shots
Thank you Jim!
This is money brotha. Good shit
Appreciate it!!

Haha hey! I wish I could help all the golfers on all ranges around the world-----but I've learned you can only help when the person asks for it :)
@@CogornoGolf Of course, but dude he was a prime candidate! 🤣
@@CogornoGolf and honestly it would make for some great content. Once a month, randomly pick someone out and give them some help.
After you said that I wish I was that dude!
And then start the prayers for the guy fetching his tee @ 8:00 in the shank zone of the shank-o-potumus family.
Really nice video.
Thanks!
Do you have any videos in the archive you would recommend on fixing early release problems?
Love these for that!

Don't you think that there is also a lateral movement to the left side along with everything you said has to be done?. Great Video!
Hey! Oh for sure there is a "weight shift" toward the target with this yep
Would that arms and but end of club further away from body the same for say 8 iron down to pitching wedge?
Hey! Yep!
@Eric, If I am hitting too thin during this drill, does that mean I need more side bend?
More trail shoulder down (trail side bend) and more arms straight to eliminate the thins...use video feedback to confirm! This video goes over more details...

Check out Craig Hanson’s latest video on rotation. Getting the left shoulder high helps rotation also
Thanks Steve! We've got some videos with Craig coming up soon---hes great!

I would put a club in your sternum and make that point up toward the sky in the follow through as your hips push forward and turn and your head stays back
Or put club in line with ball and push hips forward of that as head stays back over
You need more EXTENSION and SIDE BEND likely

In honor of the Olympics watching you demonstrate extension reminds me of the hammer throw. Same look as they release the hammer.
Hey David! YES lots of similarities with the body motions there (and for lots of the other sports too!) Thanks for watching!
Danny Maude talks about this. I find his videos and Mr Cogorno's compliment each other very well. I can take elements of both
So am I to feel the hip moving up or am I pushing down from the lead foot? I'm not entirely sure what part of my body is supposed to be moving. I'm trying to push up and away with my lead foot.

Trigonometry? Simple. But a good lesson. Will take a lot of work.

Im jealous that he makes it sound/look so simple, but I have not been able to have consistent solid contact for the life of me

If you put a ball between your forearms, you don't have to think about anything. All this will automatically happen 💡
