    Eric, you have become my favorite swing coach on TH-cam. You obviously have a nice swing, but I love how you take on the role as a student when working with JT, always asking the right questions to make things crystal clear. I usually prefer coaches working on their own, but the 2 of you make a great team. Hope you keep making this great content.

    Eric. You have helped me figure out a swing that has been a mess for 20 years. Your ability to explain a concept just…resonates. JT is another amazing guest. I want to thank you for creating content, it has truly made a difference for me. Lots of local lessons that did not work. Videoing my own swing and applying your videos has made my golf buddies poor, jealous broken men. Much luv bro.

    Thanks Eric for this video. I was getting pretty frustrated with my driver. I was told to always keep my arms tucked in and now I see the trail arm from various videos pull away a bit at the top which feels way more natural. Before I always felt like I was pushing the club, focusing on keeping everything tucked in and not allowing the natural swing. This video truly resonated with me. Thank you.

    Interesting comment about the trail arm not being touching the body. I’ve been trying to keep my trail elbow against my side when I reach the top of the backswing and I’ve been struggling to hit the driver. In fact I’m worse now than when I first started. Now all I can hit is a low hook…I’m almost read to give up and be one of those guys who never uses their driver😢

    This is interesting. I get way to inside and have a tendency to have big hooks. When things are lined up in the swing I can consistently hit 165 to 170 ball speed. I Bel think this is a good thing for me and drills for me. I have been told by instructors before i need to feel like im trying to hit fades. Ends up being high draws.

    OK, Eric, as usual I'm going to needle you a little bit & challenge you a lot. That's not to say that this video wasn't terrific; it was. That said, I want all of your followers who see this video to comment on the amount of shoulder turn Rory got and how little you got in comparison. Viewers, compare Rory at 9:23/16:40 to Eric at 12:30/16:40 and Eric at 12:43/16:40. Now, compare Eric at 12:54 to Rory at 9:23. Anyone can see two things: Eric doesn't turn his shoulders as much as Rory does when Eric actually hits the driver, but at 12:54 Eric rotates his shoulders as much or more than Rory. That means Eric has a lot more in the tank! If he, you, or I rotated our shoulders that much, we'd get another 30 yards of air carry out of our driver using the correct shaft. So, you can see that I'm not needling Eric to make him look bad, I'm needling Eric to get him to turn his shoulders as much as he's telling us to turn our shoulders! I'm heading to the range to try this out because I know this will improve my distance and I'll get to see how it effects my control. Good video, Eric.

    I've been trying to feel a lot of timing in footwork. My sequence/trigger has been plant down get the hips and feet going before everything. Watching this drill and working my way feels wrong too early pressure on the trail side causing me to extend my trail leg stopping rotation and getting out ahead of it. This has me feeling more pressure on the front side until p1 then getting the pressure into the trail heel to get turned instead of plant and slide and use all upper body to turn. I was doing what I was aiming for so long but it was wrong. I've started to feel like I actually need to be on the trail side later that way I have something to move. I was way too quick hopefully I explained that well enough. A sense of pressure into my trail heel from p1 to get the turn. I feel stretch get wide then let the hips get me up almost like a toss behind me, gather to transition and explode. Who knew my transition was off because of my first move back. This has me feeling the vertical forces in my legs without over exersion.

    Eric I have a driver question. I hit my 8 iron like 175, but my driver is only like 230 to 240. A guy at the range it hit at sais to me in passing if I ever figure out speed I'll hit it a mile. I didn't know what that meant but researched it and what I found is to swallow out my swing to get less spin. What do you think any help you be greatly appreciated. Thanks BTW love the content I watch them all

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Keith!
      Great question....could be several things.
      My suggestion would be to go get a club fitting asap first things first to make sure the club in your hands isn't the thing holding you back.
      Once you do that (which may solve the problem) then we could talk swing stuff....could be hitting down too much AoA, spin, etc

    • @CogornoGolf

      You could....but keeping the left arm off and to the left of the club helps feel the lead arm more IN FRONT vs ACROSS the body like JT wants to feel

    Is the right arm bent a bit at impact?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The trail arm is bent for sure at impact (roughly 20-30°)...but it will not be the same for everyone.
      Players who have more trail side bend and rib cage rotation numbers (think Viktor Hovland) will have the trail arm MORE BENT…players who have less trail side bend and rib cage rotation numbers (think current Tiger) will have the trail arm straighter/LESS BENT...still bent SOME...but less.
      Hope this helps!

    As a born thrower, I started playing golf like this and shot good scores in 5months. 10 years later, so many lessons and TH-cam videos later, and I'm still not as good as using my natural throwing instinct to load the right lat and scapula, then throw it. My one gripe would be, does the wide takeaway matter? Does the body motion matter? The body will respond as necessary to get into that top position and load all the right side over the right leg. If we reach the same loaded position at the top, what does it matter? It feels so contrived and unnatural to take it away wide, so much potential to pull us onto the outside of the trail foot. If the position at the top is the same, why would a quiet takeaway and width at halfway matter?

      The reality is there are a lot of "must haves" in the golf swing. Some people need to hear things in different ways for it to really "click".
