@@tybrown1437 bmw drivetrain has no relevance to the HP... its a drivers car and it beats other cars with larger engines with more HP that are same or lighter.

I've heard a lot of reviewers complain about the M8/8 series interior not looking too different from the lower end BMW's. I think this is testament to BMW's interior build quality - That even the lower models get great interiors that you have to really really hard to make the flagship look and feel special.
I personally like the 8-Series interior and feel like the extra leather and plush material are enough.

BMW and Mercedes are doing the same in that case. I think quality and premium should be in all their cars , starting from low end till expensive cars . But for example , I don't want that someone who bought a 2019 1series to have the same features as my 2019 8 series which cost 3x as much. In my opinion , interior lighting or some extra feautures should be only in expensive range cars , 5 series and up. I want to pay for something that lower ranges doesn't have which would make my car different , not just exterior shape or performance. Mercedes is doing the same
Amazing, beautiful car! I’d be in line for one, likely GC, but without 6 or 7 speed MT, I’ll hang on to my old M6 for as long as I can. Unfortunately, I feel that I BMW has resigned me to the used car market. But, objectively, if auto is your thing, this car is a firehouse beast, worthy of serious consideration. Great review!

Well just driving a car out the dealership reduces the price by like 20k lol. But presumably it will be like 25-30k less depending on mileage.
Wait for a year or 2 and u will be getting it for 70k

Rory is the reason I subscribed. Didn't really pay attention to him when he was on topgear (mostly because I'm a die hard Chris Harris fan n he was the only reason I even bothered to watch it) but he is excellent at reviewing cars 👌👌👌
i think it’s time we see this in a drag race. it’ll be interesting to see it against the M5 Comp just to gauge the difference in power.
I am a massive BMW fan and am currently on my 8th. Two comments though: it will be a great second hand buy, but not new, too expensive and second, why would anyone buy a MacLaren given their current shocking customer service reviews at the moment?
U mean 'McLaren'
The ppl that can afford vehicles from brands like Mclaren may not be looking at customer reviews. Performance, social stature, potential investment value for just a few reasons.
@@cyclopathtrucker8583 actually McLaren is losing customers in many markets (especially US) due to terrible customer service, non existent parts storage and very long waiting times to fix/maintain the car. Most parts need to get made and shipped from England and can take months due to delays in customs.

To some of the comments about buying a used M8. I saw an M4 at my dealer a couple of years ago. It was priced at just 69,000 €. I found the price very suspicious as the car still looked new. Asked my sales guy and he admitted it was a BMW Works demonstrator and had been driven on the race track. Would you want an ex race track car after being beasted by many around a track? Not me! All that red-lining the engine would have taken years of it's useful life!

Lot of turbos never run out of puff down the rpm Infact as larger the rpm its better... It's engines that are not designed to handle the power at high rpms that's why they rev lesser than na.
Great review, love Rory, but I didn't realise the point of a GT car was straight line speed, is that not more to do with drag cars 😕 excellaration in a straight line really is not that important, that because the BMW is faster in a straight line its a better GT car??

Many coupes from Europe now have that same silhouette, previously the coupes were just two door version of the saloon.
I've seen an M8 in our dealership and it looks nothing like a Mustang in person. Oh and before jumping on me, I live in North America and my best friend drives a 2018 Mustang GT

Very good review of a great car. Two points of disagreement... I own a DB11. Although Aston has now gone the bi-turbo route, the exhaust is still absolutely intoxicating! Better, in my humble opinion, than the M8. I guess the new thing is the crackle and pop exhaust.
It is difficult to compare the M8 Competition to the DB11 or the Bentley as far as price goes. The M8 is an absolute steel at $160K USD. My DB11 was $100K more than the M8.
In all, BMW builds a fantastic car, and the M8 is a work of art.
Bentley or the M8? I am leaning towards the Bentley. Another recommendation to the Bentley? I like uniqueness.
