Both r amazing, pure drivers cars. Both the M3/M4 was, is and always will be the best drivers sedan. But gotta go with the M4 though. It's Astonishing in black

The grill is actually quite medium sized like the grill of a merc or audi is much bigger

Lol yeah the M3 and M4 look almost the same until you see them from the side.
Rory’s reviewing style is such a breath of fresh air. He’s quick and to the point, no unnecessary bs or advertisement like Mat Watson and no forced attempts at humour. But it’s clear that he’s not trying too hard to be funny or be the next Clarkson and the brief comedy that he does use works, he’s doing his own thing and it really shows. He’s one of if not THE best car reviewers out there (in my opinion).

The massive grill definitely works better with darker, more subtle colors. Otherwise it stands out too much and thats when it gets ugly.
Just watched the M3 Vid an hour ago, didn't know I will have to wait only an hour for this one 😃..

I actually think this cars front grill looks unreal in this black colour, especially from outside the car when it’s snaking between corners on the road. Looks like a beast 👌🏼🔥

Couldn't click fast enough after watching last night's M3 review.
I think they switched to the ZF gearbox because the previous M4 with DCT people were struggling when the gear changes were to snappy mid corner and even straight, with driving aids off.
Nice review...love the positive energy! Just bought an M4 Comp...get it next week..stoked!

I disagree. I think the M3 looks better than the M4. People have been obsessing over the front grill, but I dont think the front is the issue. It's the side bland side profile and the uneventful rear end that doesn't match the aggressive front. I think the lines and angles of the M3 compliment the front end
honestly i think the grill looks good with the car in black. something modern yet really sporty and special.
and the back of the car is a 10/10 i feel like.
for me one of the best looking cars this year for sure, better than an RS5 or what I would imagine the next C63 to look like.

Looks amazing!!!! The grill is something only people who can’t afford it have an opinion on, including me! I love it and hope I can buy it second hand in a few years. Need to buy a house first!

I love my m4 and now then I see this one😮. I like everything about it and jealous about that front grill.
My wife and I have owned 18 BMW’s, we’ve had 911’s, we’ve had several Mercedes, we owned the last Gen M4 Competition - lease was up and the new M’s weren’t out so we have a filler car, the M340 and C43 AMG. We’ve toured the Mercedes, BMW and Porsche factories and museums, we regularly attend BMW driving schools - I’m intentionally trying to insinuate that we have some cred for the statement I am about to make which is... your reviews sir are the best I have ever watched. Positively wonderful, exceptionally informative, just spectacular work - thank you!

Rory, fantastic review. Honest, balanced and fun. Is it time to trade in my F82. Prob not, ridiculous amount of money for top spec (my f82 is top spec and I love the looks - cant say that about the new generation but not seen one in person yet!). Its a shame you are not part of the Top Gear team. Do you own show mate, i'm sure you'd get the viewers.

I would say a manual transmission is indicated for a car of 300 horsepower or less. You can have fun and not get in much trouble. With more powerful cars like this M4, a DCT is preferable. As to the automatic, we'll have to see how that works out in the longer term. I like the new M4 but I already have an M2 and for me, that is the better option.

Looks ok in black. Glad that we have some nice wheel designs and good colour options with the exterior/interior.
Let's just hope people don't spec black on black as usual.
Love the looks of the car, even the goofy grill, looks under wheeled though, should be able to spec higher profile tyres to fill out the arches...
I love the colours, especially of the interior. This version looks fantastic, would pick it up in a heartbeat if I had the money.

I'd pick the M4 for this gen, chose an M3 last time as it was better looking than the M4 that is reversed for this gen, great review as well you should never have been taken off TG.
Personally I love the bold design. It makes other cars in comparison look boring and safe. Also, the most important thing is this car is FUN to drive!

8:00 I wouldnt rate transmissions taht way, it all depends on the combination with engine and tuning. The Guilia QV uses a ZF auto transmission and it pulverized the previous M3/M4 and had the best engine size/cv and cv/time lap in its class

The problem is not the grill but the position of it... The top part is too high and doesn’t align with the top part of the lights. This as the effect of be perceived not as a “mouth” but as 2 giant nostrils. What a shame, perfection was just few millimetres away

One of those rare cars where I LOVE the rear, but are on the fence about the face. Of course, it looks better when it’s all black because it blends but with any other color one can definitely see it’s quite huge.
Another top review son, dominating the auto journalist space like a boss. Apart from those few SIZEABLE misses of old (remember that cringeworthy drag-queen episode!) your content is pure gold.

I was incredibly critical of this car when I first saw it, I hated the redesign. This video was a major turning point for me in learning to love the new design. I pick up my M4 Comp Xdrive in July haha...

@@ftr911drvr in Uk spec the price difference is around £2000, and it becomes RWD at a button push. I had a real think about what I wanted to actually use the car for and the reality of it was I wanted a fast super coupe that I could occaisionally kick the back out of and do silly stuff in. The AWD gives freedom and safety in the uk where it rains 3/5 days and will still let me embrace my inner child for 5 minutes when I want to.
That and I want to see some Audi Rs owners cry…
The chief designer of the car defended the grill saying that 1 in 5 people liked it. He said that 20% of people working at BMW liked the grill
So basically, 80% of people working at BMW hated it,

Also, all BMW cars are equipped with the steptronic transmission, which u can drive normally, shift without a clutch or in racing mode but u have to be racing only. The manual tells u that. Fantastic cars.❤️🇩🇪
It looks better in black because it helps hide the massive grille a bit, but the monstrosity is still undeniably there at the end of the day.

The G8X M Cars have introduced the FIRST EVER color changing interior! That baby blue and yellow interior is going to become black and brown in ten years or so!

I love the grill now..I remember when ford focus put the rear lights on the top rear and everyone was like "omg" then it took off..designers have better forethought sometimes

They changed from dct to zf due to the fact that dct wouldn't have been optimal choice for incoming m xdrive system.
They nailed it and they stand out I like it : ) It’s standing out and not just cookie cutter styling.
That's the purpose of this massive grill...
It's to stand out.
If it looked like the normal actual 3-Series sedan, it would just be "the new M3" and that's it.
It wouldn't be all over social media...
It's all about the marketing strategy...
