I was (and am) a massive Primus fan and asked the record company if I could interview them (as was easy in those days when record companies were happy for any publicity). It was arranged that I would interview Primus. When I arrived there was only Mr Claypool there - he was an absolute gent. I had a few questions written down in my notebook, the first one being 'do you put that voice on?'. When he said hello I realised he didn't ha! He was a lovely bloke, realised I was very nervous, so he ordered us tea and we spent an hour or so discussing our favourite rides at Disneyland. Gorgeous bloke
That bass playing from the LEADSINGER is freaking cool and he doesn’t say anything about it
Best bassist in rock music history. No one can touch his style and sound.
Les Claypool plays a fretless bass. He’s a genius
Les is a virtuoso and the joke is always on us. Though Primus never tried to be mainstream, their cult following is composed of some of the most talented and respected artists in the industry and has inspired countless newbies to experiment and to just “be” as a musician. This is what the pure essence performance of the garage band’s world looks like.
He's tapping on his bass. Plus listen to Frizzle Fry from beginning to end.
Thanks a lot Jamel, now every time I hear this song I crack up at your imitation :p
Primus My Name Is Mud
Holy hell man I’m scrolling the play lists an bravo to you. You really deep dived on them.
I guess you don’t see these but if you do
All the love an respect to you for these.
Their lyrics are actually really cool when you get into them. Great wordplay and storytelling.
If you like his lyrics, then check out his novel, "South of the Pumphouse." I'm a picky, lifelong reader and it's very good!
the beauty 0f Primus os that regardless if you like them or not, their music will make your body move. thats the magic!
the fact that you started grooving the moment the bass and drums hit, earned you a sub,
Primus is known for their strange music videos
FREAKIN FANTASTIC MUSICIANSHIP....definitely outside the box jam sessions... via TEXECUTION TEXAS..
That was actually a pretty good Les Claypool impersonation.
The 90s were an insane time for music.
The fact that something so strange was mainstream is really cool.
The claymation on this one was done by the creator of Gumby.
“Southbound Pachyderm” is a great claymation video.
