Every primus fan cried out in terror, at the timing of that pause!
Thanks, now I don't have to watch it :)
Unbelievably that's the SECOND time in two days I've seen reactors pause it right there! TWICE!
Like when they pause at Comfortably Numb Gilmour's solo
Best way to describe Primus: “Serious musicians who don’t take themselves seriously.”
That's an excellent concise description. Good Job 🙂
Primus Sucks. Nuff Said.
Much like Rush that they looooooooooooved
The one I use is always "Bay Area Redneck"
My Name is Mud,
Mr. Krinkle,
Shake Hands with Beef,
Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers,
Jerry Was A Racecar Driver,
John the Fisherman...
That'll get you started.
Also, add Too Many Puppies.
Good list but let's be honest. Does it really matter what is chosen?
You must watch the live version to appreciate Les Claypool's skill on baas.
The guy singing at the beginning, with the raspy voice, is Tom Waits... he's a legend. His early stuff was also very much about going to bars, and getting in fights, hopping trains... sort of a human "alley" cat.
"My Name is Mud", "Jerry was a Race Car Driver" AND the theme to South Park!!!!
~ John the Fisherman
~ My Name is Mud
~ Southbound Pachyderm
Don’t sleep on the elite drumming of Tim Alexander, aka Herb
Les Claypool is a mad genius on bass and has worked with so many different artists, including my favorite singer Tom Waits. Primus is a unique band with nothing else to compare them too.
Great song to react to. So glad you came back to Primus quickly. Hope you two have a great new years and grow the channel even more in the coming year.
I remember blasting this with my friends after hearing it in the soundtrack of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey when we saw it in theaters. So much fun to remember!
Primus sucks 😊
Beat me to it lol
3 great musicians. Les is a hell of storyteller!
We need more songs, the Primus rabbit hole is a fun one
I read a description of Primus as something like "three talented musicians, each playing a different song, sung by a hobo" . . .
Dude, that's how I used to describe some jazz music. 😂. Love both though.
Primus is about as close to being in a fever dream as possible.
The gravelly vocal was a guest appearance by Tom Waits, Legendary singer and songwriter in his own right. He’s also done some awesome acting roles. His stuff is very different than Primus- old school jazz and blue ranging to very experimental. My fave Waits song is “Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis” but you could start that journey anywhere and discover new joys.
Les is a bass god
Auditioned for Metallica lol
“Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver was the first one we got into.” OMG I’m still laughing!!!! 🤣🤣
Next: John the Fisherman, Jerry was a Racecar Driver, and Damn Blue Collared Tweekers!
have to watch a live performance of this
Yeah, live from Bonnaroo.
Your next venture into Primus should be Jerry Was A Racecar Driver. My first mosh pit at the 95 HFS-TIVAL. Also, Too Many Puppies.
I really recommend watching live performances from Primus. They are all top class musicians.
This was in my playlist definitely back then. Lol don’t forget about the drummer.❤
Everyone focuses on Les for his bass, and rightfully so, but most people seem to not mention Herb on drums and Ler on guitar!!! Larry "Ler" Lalonde is a fr OG death metal guitarist from what majority of people admit wad the first death metal band Possessed!! 🤘🤘
I used to listen to the Sailing the Seas of Cheese album on repeat in high school! But before I got into Primus, I was a long time Tom Waits fan (the gravelly voice of Tommy the Cat). I highly recommend checking out his huge catalogue of music. Start soft with San Diego Serenade or Hold On so you aren't traumatized lol. But if you want to know the real Tom Waits, check out his experimental stuff- my faves are Black Wings, Just the Right Bullets, God's Away on Business and Hell Broke Luce.
Primus committed to be ridiculous and it's all just awesome.
It's because they actually are ridiculous. That's not a commitment, they're actually like that. TBH, they have to be to play the stuff they write. Fun guys to be around. Would really like to go fishing with them sometime. Think that would be a hoot.
Thanks legends..for sharing and enjoying this with ALL of us
♥️💯🇦🇺
I almost choked to death the first time I heard this this song is hilarious :D
This is by far my favorite Primus song. It’s so technically good and so silly it makes it a perfect mix for me.
jerry was a race car driver ...
22 years old.
Mr. Krinkle…My name is Mud…Tommy the race car driver…
Tommy is the cat, Jerry the racecar driver. I know, it gets confusing. 🙂
@@jackgilchrist Easy to get frizzle fried sometimes
@@jackgilchrist Jerry WAS the racecar driver. Too many camparis one night, he wrapped hisself around a telephone pole.....
Straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I would recommend their whole video catalog
Primus is just Primus
This song was written about Thomas O'Malley from the Aristocrats. Les Claypool definitely has an orange cat.
Beavers, cats...next has to be "Shake Hands With Beef"! Love your reactions...
These guys got me through calculus in college. Somehow the work was easier with Sailing the Seas of Cheese in the discman.
Primus does a great cover of Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd.
Def not the aristocats art. O'malley's Alley may pay homage, but that's it
"John the Fisherman" "Jerry was a Racecar Driver" "Southbound Pachyderm" "My Name is Mud" and "Too Many Puppies"
Our Boys! East Bay in the HOUSE!
Ok, to keep the Primus' animals theme doing, the next song to check out should be "Too Many Puppies."
What's not to love about Primus? Order in chaos.
If you want slower tempo Primus, I recommend Southbound Pachyderm. It also happens to be my favorite Primus song.
The alley cat is played by Les's grand father.
They have a concept album where they covered the whole original Williy Wonka sound track. It's a beyond wild reimagination of the original that has to be experienced.
This song should have won the San Dimas battle of the bands 😂
Lacquer head,
Over the falls,
Mr crinkle,
Or a Les claypool solo song,Iowan gal is ace or check out Les version of staying alive from his duo de twang side project.
The song is also an homage to Tom Waits, which is who is depicted in silhouette.
And does the voice of Tommy the Cat
If they showed an original clip, that would probably bring the wrath of Disney's legal division down on Primus big time, lol. I think Sam's got you there bro. I could be mistaken.
A good 2024 of content, looking forward for and even better 2025 guys a Healthy and Happy New Year’s to you and the subscribers.
Nothing to do with the Aristocats.
Their song Southbound Pachyderm is technically animal-related. If you only want to react to their music videos, I also recommend Laquer Head and Mr. Krinkle. Their Woodstock 94 performances are also legendary if you want to react to Those Damn Blue Collared Tweekers. Also American Life from Bonnaroo is one of my favorite performances.
I didn't know that dissonant chords could sound good.
He is so interesting. Aside his skill, all of their skills (multiple projects and groups) his views on music and the industry and staying true to that form as their good friends in Tool with them. Like Tool there is so much worth diving into here. It is a matter not "all about the bass" in this case.
Oh that raspy voice of Tommy on this version was provided by another good friend of that crew, Tom Waits. I had thought another commenter would have picked it up for you two already. Again it is well worth a deep dive into these people. Also Les and Tools origins in Green Jello with Three Little Pigs. That's a fun one to react to.
Jerry was a race car driver
Animal themed Primus songs: Ol' Diamondback Sturgeon and Soutbound Pachyderm.
those damn blue collar tweakers.
John the fisherman next, one of my faves 👍
Oh boy.....!
You guys want to checkout a cool concert available on Paramount+ The South Park 25th Anniversary Concert with Trey and Matt from South Park. With Prmimus, Ween (My favorite band) and Rush. Very fun live concert
"My Name Is Mud" next please!
As a change of pace, I suggest Mr Krinkle. 🙂
Mr. krinkle for sure
Staying Alive
Wynonnas big brown beaver is a must
All their videos are awesome
And you need to do more Zappa to see the influence. Like there are no rules.
They got some fishing songs if you want more animal related
Primus - Mephisto and Kevin
And so the trek down the Primus rabbit hole continues . . .
Incredible
Top Cat
the live version is so much better
Primus - "Pork Soda" would be a great follow-up reaction to this song
Southbound Pachyderm
How is it possible ? First listen really? Guys, 34 years….so it’s never too late
tweakers live woodstock 94...u'll see how they tear shit up.
Check out My Name Is Mud
Les Claypool is the Picasso of Bass👊🏽⚡️….and of course Primus sucketh 🫡
Mr. Krinkle!!
Animal themed go with Southbound Pachyderm next. Same unique style and delivery, but a bit slower and less frantic.
Happy New Year, one day you will be able to react to the group Candlemass, it is the greatest doom group in history, it would be great if you discovered it
Heck out Les claypools other bands, bastard jazz, the holy mackeral, frog brigade just name some of his other music projects
Groundhogs Day live
Primus sucks.
Welcome to Primus. One of the craziest most enjoyable rabbit holes you can go down. As they like to say, Primus sucks.
Green Jellÿ/Jellö also sucks.
All those guys Les (bass) Larry (guitar) Tim (Drummer) are all top notch musicians and glad I got to see them a few times with my pops awesome band just under a month ago Tim had departed for personal reasons but they're touring with tool I think. I suggest southbound to pachyderm (live from pachyderm station) it's a VIBE! Fun fact that tone the singer uses is from an idea he got watching Mark sandman of the band morphine another great band. Ps PRIMUS SUCKS!
really blew it on that pause damn
I used this song in our HS band slide show. On my channel if you care.
Do too many puppies next please
Give OVER THE FALLS by Primus a listen
Primus SUCKS!
nah, that's New animation for this video,
The worst time to pause. And you did not even go back to enjoy that bass riff. I'd say you are doing these videos just for the sake of doing them.
I want some of what you’re smoking.
What did Sam think of les' bartending skilz?😅
Primus sucks! 😎👍
Mr Krinkle, next
Wtheck. Finely. Primus sucks.😊
Try blue collar tweakers or Jerry was a race car driver.
Primus is not rock, punk, funk or metal. Primus is Primus.
So, by the metric that any song over 25 years old is "classic rock"...
Folllow your wife’s lead on the primus reactions
Grandad’s Little Ditty…
