Good evening Brian👍😊I am definitely bookmarking this video & so I can listen to it again for this valuable information, it all makes perfect sense & kind of sounds familiar with travels I have already experienced getting around. If I can operate semi's I'll drive myself around, I'm not keen on shuttle buses only because I like to absorb & take things in without disturbances. A pleasure to listen to, thank you so much & take care🙏

Hey Brian, my husband and I are staying at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate in May and we'll be coming from Welgevonden Game Reserve. We're trying to figure out if we should drive straight there or head back to O.R Tambo and fly. While the flight will take less time that would mean we would need to rent another car in Hoedspruit, so I'm inclined to drive but I'm a little nervous to drive without knowing the area. Are you at all familiar with the N1 and R71 highways? If so are they advisable for tourists to drive on?

Hi Andrea, sorry for the late reply but we are currently in India for Tiger Safari/Photography with limited internet. We have only ever driven a short distance on the R71 from Hoedspruit to Abelana River Lodge. Best bet is to join the Hoedspruit Town Facebook Page facebook.com/groups/61718054224
There are updates on road condition to different areas connected to Hoedspruit and you can simple post a question about the route you mention. The folks in Hoedspruit are usually super helpful in answering questions. Hope that helps and have a great trip....Brian

Hi, if we are landing into Joberg in the morning from London can we go straight to a Kruger connection? Or do we have to stay in Joberg longer? Thanks

      Hi Sarah,
      If you're talking by plane:
Airlink has flights from Jo'burg to Hoedspruit 10.30am and 12.50pm and Skukuza inside the Park at 10:05am and 1.30pm. Domestic flights go from the same airport, just a different terminal, so you can walk from International Arrivals to Domestic Departures. Just be aware of any differences in luggage allowances between your international flight and the domestic in South Africa. In saying that, we've haven't had our carry-on weighed yet with Airlink and my camera gear weighs 10kg.

      If you're talking Shuttle Bus:
Shuttle terminal is at O.R Tambo Airport. It's about a 5 minute, well signed walk from arrivals terminal. Swift Shuttles(formerly Ashtons) go to Hoedspruit(near Kruger) and a few stops around, leaves at 7:45am swiftkrugershuttles.com/johannesburg-to-hoedspruit-shuttle/ They are not a private shuttle so a bit cheaper.
Safari Link has same stops as Swift but leaves O.R Tambo at 7am
      safarilinksa.com/johannesburg-to-hoedspruit/
Shuttle King goes to all game reserves and lodges in Greater Kruger, Kruger National Park gates and rest camps and is a private shuttle so you just send them your flight details and arrival time www.shuttleking.co.za/kruger-park-shuttle/
If you ever get 'stuck' in Jo'burg Airport you can stay at one of the airport hotels if you don't want to go into the city. There is a food court and Woolworths Express(mini market) at the airport.
In Jo'burg itself, I can recommend Garden Court Hotel Sandton City. Great value, safe area and straight across the road from Mandela Square and the huge Sandton City Mall.

We used Ashtons but just found out they closed due to no business during Covid. Former Employees of Ashtons have founded swiftkrugershuttles.com/
