- Abersoch was originally a small fishing village. It’s still a small village (783 people) but it’s now a thriving holiday destination whose numbers grow exponentially by the attractions of the Summer sunshine. Now in Gwynedd, it used to be in Caernarfonshire. The village is small, but there is a convenience store, some pubs and restaurants, together with some craft and souvenir shops. I can’t recall seeing a ‘chippy’ although there are some beach cafes around
Its attractions for the visitors are a fine sandy beach - backed by sand dunes - which reach all the way down to Machroes over ½ mile away. Sat just in front of the dunes is a terrace of rather nice beach huts. These can sell for large amounts of money - one for £153000 in April 2016 (see www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-n.... I believe that beach chalets may be available for hire, best to ask at the Tourist Office (01758 712929)
There is also a harbour and jetty nearby, together with a smaller sandy beach which is a lot quieter than the main beach. From here you can see tractors being used to help launch/retrieve the boats that sail from here. There is a great deal of maritime activity in the Abersoch area from fishing, diving; using yachts, dinghies and small boats, to scarily fast jet-skiers. Boat trips are also an option
There is also a horse riding and a golf course nearby, together with other fine beaches all around if you want somewhere a little quieter - they are worth seeing in their own right
Wikipedia claims that the majority (51.1%) of the population in Abersoch are actually English, presumably well-to-do retirees?

This video is superb. No intrusive music, no commentary and the camera doesn't pan too quickly to cause a blur. Just natural sounds of the sea and happy holidaymakers. It's the next best thing to being there. Thank you.
Been to this beech not v big but we enjoyed
Awful lot of boats and beach but little of the village/town.
