Just bought a WM4000 based on this review to replace a GE GTW465ANSW that was great for the most part but died four years in and parts couldn't be sourced in a timely fashion. I honestly didn't want to go FL again after a terrible Samsung machine, but this review sold me. Cycle times are quick, machine washes incredibly well, Allergiene cycle managed to get some pillows I thought were destined for the trash brought back to like new. Based on wash performance and the interface even if this only lasts 5-8 years I'd buy another. Performance for the price I don't think can be beaten especially when you consider how easy these are to work on and how relatively reliable they are. Thanks for all the videos Eugene!

That is really impressive, I’m so glad your doing these videos, lower water consumption, energy consumption and still did that was on a turbo express. As long as the door and detergent drawers are kept open ajar between uses, these should be no bad smell buildup. 👍🏼

I have a front load washer and it doesn't need so much care to avoid bad smells. It's as simple as not closing the door completely. The detergent drawer can stay closed. After almost 3 years, the washer doesn't even have mold inside. Just leave the door 1 inch open, that's it.

Not sure if Gene is still doing videos being I haven't seen a new post in years. However I ended up not purchasing a new washer to replace my dying old 1990's Amana(SQ). I ended up buying the same Amana washer less the built in 2nd rinse and a slightly smaller tub. This washer was in excellent condition and got it for $150.00 out the door at a used appliance shop in SLC. Owned now for over 2 years and going strong with outstanding performance.

  • @JohnMcMahan5

I think turbo wash is an amazing evolutionary technology. Recirculate the water so it doesn't puddle at the bottom of the tub, therefore increasing the friction of the tumbling action by eliminating the barrier the water puddle creates. Great job LG!

@@bolosantosi5398 Amazing machine. My parents had a Speed Queen set - we got it from all the laundry nerd hype on the Internet. Ugh - what a disaster. Despite looking like it had a great spin cycle, it never seemed to fully rinse stuff out. Bath towels in particular felt grungy and didn't have a decent smell to them. After getting the LG we re-washed all the towels, including the "clean" ones and when the LG set was done the difference was night and day. The towels were dramatically fluffier, smelled pleasant and were incredibly soft too. They were so fluffy they all wouldn't fit back into the cabinet they came out of - we had to split them up. That kind of speaks for itself!
My parents donated the Speed Queen set to a local thrift store who now uses them to wash the donations that come in. Perfect for that; not impressed for home use. My Duet HT is finally giving up the ghost after 15 years so my LG set is coming this Friday. Can't wait!

Hi Eugene. Thanks for another great vid. I have two comments to add: 1) I don't find lint to be common for front loaders at all and 2) the lint you always have on your laundry is from those microfiber towels you throw into every wash. Also, I'm with you on that rinse(?) cycle. The partial drain and refill (or water down rinse) was so soapy, and then that couple of seconds spray rinse at end, I
feel like I would have to do an rinse on it to feel like they clothes were clean. Thanks again for the gr8 vid.

This is the type of front loader I like to see. In Europe (and the Netherlands specifically) we only have front loaders, and these machines, even the European modern ones, guarantee at least good wash action.
One little question, do you happen to know how much RPM an extra high spin speed is? I always spin my stuff at 1600 RPM and my tumble dryer dries at about two hours for a full load, and a small load is just 30 minutes because of the high spin speed.

I believe all US LG front loaders are 1300 max RPM. We unfortunately don't have the centum system available to us. I think you have such a high spin speed because you don't have seperate fully vented dryers so your drying time is increased.

    • @mrlaundry101

@@Sethbruns we have faster spinning because our drums are smaller. The g force would be about the same for this LG spinning at 1300 and our lgs spinning at 1600. We have 4 types of dryers: vented, condenser, heat pump and hybrid heat pump. I use a hybrid heat pump which is A+++ rated for energy usage. It runs at a lower temp meaning it takes longer but clothing is more protected and energy is saved. It's a double win.

@@garykarczewski6678 My parents couldn't get rid of their speed queen front loader fast enough. Two years of hell trying to get it to perform decently - and yes, I tortured my mom with all the laundry nerd tips and tricks. Bah - what an utter waste of time. I now know the Speed Queen and Maytag commercial freaks are a cult suffering from some of the worst selection bias I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing personally.
We replaced the speed queen set with this LG set and INSTANTLY laundry came out clean, fresh and with the bath towels in particular - fluffy and incredibly soft. Nothing else changed. Same physical location of the washer/dryer. Same water. Same electricity. Same detergent. Same laundry. Only thing that changed was the washer/dryer and it was as if someone snuck in and swapped out the old towels with completely different towels during the laundry process. The speed queen set left them so matted down that after running them through the LG they came out so fluffy they wouldn't fit back into the cabinet they previously easily fit in. Probably how they should have always felt had they been laundered properly by the Speed Queen.
That's what really did it for me. There simply is no comparison. People raving about the performance of the LG have reason to rave.
Also notice at the 24 minute mark when it's in the spin cycle it runs fresh rinse water through WHILE IT'S SPINNING. I dunno - seems like that could be the "secret" to why these machines do an EXCELLENT job at rinsing.

Indeed - I love scent free/allergy friendly detergent for this reason. Also you don't need fabric softener - plain old white vinegar in the softener dispenser works wonders, doesn't gum everything up like the wax in fabric softener does (and no, your laundry will NOT smell like vinegar). Run your bath towels through this machine with a couple of extra rinses and vinegar in the softener dispenser and you will have the fluffiest, most absorbent towels. The more you wash them without softener and just vinegar, the more absorbent they will get as you continue to remove that past softener.
