The Bio caught me by surprise, that got amped up hard in comparison to the older games. Zeromus really got buffed up in this version. But above all that, AN ACTUAL FINAL BOSS DEATH! YES! THAT'S how it's done!!
It's clearly the better one; especially since apart from the remake it received on iOS, it's impossible to get The After Years in a 2-D sprite form. I'm still miffed we never had III get a physical PSP release in the states, and that we never saw V and VI get the same treatment.
@@okagron I mean in a way it did on iOS, but the new sprites just didn’t compare to IV PSP’s quality, and of course the touch menu interface…don’t see why they didn’t at least make them for the Vita and make a collection of all six games plus TAY…missed opportunity indeed, even if the Vita sold poorly.
The Pixel Remaster does have some good animations and music for sure, but it cuts out swapping party members in Mysidia, the Cave of Trials, and the Lunar Ruins ):

This is "based" on the original in terms of content, items and character abilities, but it is way easier since enemies give a lot more exp and gil. Also, arrows are infinite in this version and their accuaracy got a massive buff, so they're kinda op. It also seems they made enemies slower. This is the easiest version of FFIV to date, as all other pixel remasters.
this was a great version of the music, solid graphics update, etc. but big bang does not look *nearly* as cool as the old SNES version, the way the parallax background shifts out of sync and speeds up backwards just hits different, y'know? you can't just reverse the background and expect the same impact, you *need* that parallax background effect and sped up background
I like this version of the Zeromus boss fight song, about his attacks... Big Bang feels like it's the same animation from the PSP release, while Black Hole is better here, the rest of the animations like his death is much better now than the PSP Release... but still I feel the PSP as the better overall experience (maybe that could change once I give this particular version a try).
I still find the psp version better. Way more detailed graphics and it has nice extra content, as well as the original difficulty. This version is probably the second best though. The mini maps, remixed music and overrall fluid movement are its strengths.

I would love to see more modern top down rpgs. Developers were so limited back then, technologically and experientially. The medium has developed so much. Just think of a game like this with a perfected ATB system similar to I-VI. How can we improve and make more interesting the menu based combat? Think of the stories we could tell without needing years of development or a small fortune; With a file size and system req that any cell phone could run. Resources could be dedicated to things like, idk, gameplay and story? Undertale was made by one guy, right? What could a TEAM do with that medium? It's an old painting we need to finish.
1:12 seems to be the previously-hidden "heal to full HP [once-only]" action used if he has a turn between 12-16k HP (assuming his HP is the same as the other non-ET 2D versions, 65,498 HP; does the bestiary list his stats?).
@@superneverover It only happens once, he switches to a different pattern afterward that doesn't have any "heal" actions. You can skip it entirely if you can push him below 12k before he gets a chance to act in-between that HP range (I do it in one of my old PSP videos).
Is this a minimum level challenge or did something change in this remaster? I remember slaughtering Zeromus with impunity. Just a curious question because most videos I see of this fight seem to struggle lol.

I do love the Black Hole animation in this version cause of how they made it look like the recent NASA photo of an actual black hole.

How fast was the battle speed? He's challenging at Active-1, and you can't beat him without deciphering his patterns.
FF4s OST is so full of ba ngers. the four fiends theme and this one are all-timers.
