Battle starts at 1:40 I used 4 mimes for this fight because mimic is soo OP. Final Fantasy V's job system is one of my most favorites throughout the series.

Being able to see behind Exdeath is also odd. Isn't that supposed to be his head growing out of his tree form? In the SNES he was at the edge of the screen so that wasn't a problem. NeoExdeath coming out of the void is pretty cool though.
The void also kills it. The original had him just looking like he continued on, possibly forever, after the edge of the screen. Really made it feel like an incomprehensible horror, instead of just a void monster.
I never got, until now, that Exdeath's tree form extends from his roots in the background in a swirl to the foreground. I always thought the roots were a branch between his main trunk and the heroes.
That portal they added to Neo Exdeath is a cool way to show that you are fighting an infinite torrent of evil bursting from the Void, but Exdeath's sprite in the first phase is too small compared to the original, like someone pulled the camera back too far in a sitcom so you can see all the camera equipment around the stages.

I do think that the first phase against Tree From Exdeath felt a lot less threatening, since the sprite feels rather...small. In the SNES/GBA version, all you saw and could attack was the upper part of the tree, while the tree's root was part of the battle screen background. It made Exdeath look huge in comparison to the party, since the tree is basically towering over them. I do love what they did for the second phase, though. You can see very clearly that Exdeath is brought back from the clutches of the Void, though he's now truly corrupted by its dark influence. He has become a part of it as he desired, even if he has lost his conscience in the process and now wishes to erase everything from history instead of shaping the world in his own twisted image. It would've been even cooler if we saw the party getting sucked into the Void just as how Neo Exdeath did when he was defeated, since the ending shows them getting consumed by the darkness anyway.
It is the same issue with FF2 also, final boss sprite blended perfectly with the empty background giving the illusion that he is a giant demon wearing a black coat. The PR version makes him look like the upper 1/4 of a body

Out of curiosity why are you using mimics with rapid fire over freelancers. Freelancers get almost all of the learned passive abilities from other classes and have room for 2 active abilities.
Weird reason is that I prefer the outfit of the mimics. Gives me the feels that my characters got strong compared to what they looked like the moment I first saw them xD.
@@vicenarian340 Admittedly, I did not know mimics got the stat bonus from mastering other jobs. Been playing this game for over a decade (started with the gba port) and I learn something new every time I replay it.
@@TrueBeckonedCall they do get the bonuses, but mimics cannot equip weapons like swords, axes or spears unless you use one of the slots for a "equip x" ability. Mimics are way better for magic users due to being able to use 3 slots they can pull nasty stuff like quick+dualcast+holy/flare allowing you to cast 4 times in the same turn and the next mimic copying it at free cost.

I just beat Zemus/Zeromus at the end of FFIV last night, and Neo Exdeath sure seems like a graphical retread. Maybe Square was stuck on interplanetary gobbledegook for a couple of games?
Popped up on my homescreen. For seconds there I thought some ass formed Zeromus into some weird worm. Though still reminds me more of him then Exdeath.
Awesome fight, it is crazy to me how much worse these boss sprites look than the previous iOS/Steam version. You can barely tell that blue bit at the top is Exdeath's body merged with the tree demon, and can barely tell that's supposed to be a tree to begin with, in iOS these are clear as crystal. In the 2nd phase you can vaguely tell there are multiple women, skeletons, dragons merged all together but with so little detail. I don't understand why they couldn't just import in the high-res enemy sprites vs still using the 1992 graphics
It sucks up your Gil though unless you farmed A LOT. I don't really need it because the moment i reach Exdeath i already have Rapid Fire, Dual Wielding, FLARE Spellblade Freelancers rampaging around.

The spell effects are another thing that's shared between the remasters with a few exceptions like blue magic or summons. It's lazy af and also weird when you consider they did literally redraw every single sprite, did orchestral remixes of every single track and even made maps for every single screen for all 5 games *and* the spell and sound effects from the ios/mobile ports already existed so they could just have used those.
The final battle music against Neo Exdeath is so funny. Anyways, Exdeath was too evil to control the void, and touching it made him go power-crazy. Faris is a tomboy.

For that mix just use Gil toss 4x a turn around lv 48 with Dragon power used at least twice against X death's FIRST form not only will Gil toss do 4x 9999 a turn but Dragon power WOULD have its effect transferred over to the Neo X death form doing 9999 x4 to all its targets at long as you kill at least 2 battles against those mover enemies TO have enough Gil to kill both X death and its Neo form here.

Most of the battle tracks on the Pixel Remaster sucks, really. I suppose it's because nobody at Square knows progressive rock/metal as much as Uematsu.

Exdeath is basically what would happen if in the Lord of the Rings an ENT was corrupted by the one ring and became Sauron. Very classic fantasy.
He's a gallow's tree whose roots have absorbed the evil of the hanged criminals and has gained sentience.

This also applies to the Mime job. It gets all of the passive buffs as well, just like the freelancer.
