Guys- I have been wanting to install that exact same thing for months in our garage because of the very limited space for storage inside. We have to be very strategic on what we store and why we are storing something. I thought it would be difficult but I see it’s not after watching you. But you guys are very handy I am not. Now I can cook up a storm for parties events etc- however I don’t know where to begin finding the studs in the ceiling to nail those metal things. When I saw the garage door go up I cringed hoping it would not hit the over head storage rack. I might enlist some friends who are better suited to help me install that. I loved that rack and I need to get it and install it. Thanks for putting the link in the description. Love y’all!
I have one suggestion. Disconnect the garage door opener from the door when testing the rack to garage door clearance. I didn't have enough clearance the first time and if I had it connected to the motor probably would have been a disaster. In addition you have to realize that the total drop down for the rack isn't the total storage because the metal grates it's on top of the rails
Hello. I used the middle of the ceiling brackets as the point for measuring. So I went 8 feet from the middle of one bracket to the middle of the other bracket and then 4 feet from the middle of one to the middle of the other.
You wouldn't want to load those racks up to their limit unless you add strongbacks or sheathing on the top side of the ceiling joists you've attached the rails to. It looks like you're attached to the same two ceiling joists for multiple racks.
Hi Jennifer. We installed 4 of the and did them all in the same day. The first one took about two hours because we had to mark all the beams out on the ceilings. But after that they took about 45mins each for the rest of them. We did have power tools with us so that really helped. Thanks so much for watching.
I just updated the video description with the laser level I used. It's a tripod mountable self leveling laser level. Link is below. Thanks so much for watching. amzn.to/301D7BX
Thanks so much for watching my overhead storage rack installation video. I installed 4 of them and they were a much needed addition to my messy garage. Leave a comment below this video if you have the same racks or if you are thinking about getting some type of rack system for your garage too. I put a link in the description below the video if you want to purchase the racks through amazon. Let me know your thoughts on this.
Hi James. I purchased 4 of them and they are all in place and holding nicely. I had bikes, ladders and all sorts of stuff hanging from them. As long as you get them into beams, they should be nice and sturdy. I absolutely love them.
First half of video was helpful but second was not. I actually needed the commentary and explanations for that part of the video. I don't know what part of garage ceiling I can and can't screw into. I also need help understanding where to space the mounting parts on the ceiling.
Thank you for showing what it will look like
I like it!! So organized.
You know how I love organization! Thanks so much for watching.

A, you know I measured all that out first. Hello. I am OCD about prepping before I do anything. HA! Love ya

Thanks so much Carebear. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Ty!
What is the drill bit used to make a hole in the joist..I start with 3/16" to drill holes but that seem not enough for the lags.
I purchased the 24inch-48inch vertical. Can I just use the one 24 vertical if I am not going to used the second connector?
How did you take measurements ? I'm trying to install 4 /8 rack and when I'm installing last ceiling bracket it comes one inch less in the length

The only thing on those racks are holiday bins and some paper goods from Costco. None of that stuff is heavy at all. Thanks so much for watching.
What was the total amount of time for assembly then install?

What kind of laser level are you using?

Are the racks sturdy? Saw a review from Top Raxx and they make every other rack seem crappy.
