What's the drill bit size used to make holes to the joist..started with 3/16 inch but having friction installing the ceiling bracket. Can you mention the drill size you used.
10:46 can you use the angle slot which is used by the garage door already? Can we reinforce with a couple of bolts to use it or always avoid using the garage door one?
Hi Bob, Did you consider putting lag screws at an angle for the cieling brackets near the wall and ceiling corner? Instructions call out for that. I know you tossed instructions but I am curious to know your thoughts about it 🙂 I found your video very useful. Thank you!
Yup. And they can be run parallel at 24", too. I just did with mine. It actually gives you leeway if you've made any measuring errors, plus you can slide the entire assembly back if need be
The stud finder you're using, which particular one by Franklin Sensors is that? They seem to make a few; I can't seem to find the one with 15 sensors anymore. The T-13, M210, 710 and 710+ say 13, the T-11 & X-1100 say 11. Not sure if any of those would work as well as the one you have and I don't know if you have one that's discontinued since April.
@@BobsHomeServicesLLC Thanks very much. Working on installing this same rack set in my garage; the walls and ceiling want to defeat the two stud finders I have. I don't think we're in your service area here in Michigan but this has been very helpful, as have some of the other videos now that I found your channel.
@@ericallen6405 Fantastic. I’m thrilled you found us and our video was able to help you with your project. The safe racks are a bit confusing until you do one or two.
I believe it was 600lbs into 2x6 or greater rafters and so I advised them that where it was 2x4 rafters they should contact safe racks for a more realistic number. I think it ended up being around 450-500lbs.
SafeRacks rates the 4x8 rack for 600lbs when properly installed into 2x6 or larger ceiling joists, per the instruction manual that Bob tossed 🙂. This is not a light duty rack!
Very helpful, thanks. I've been watching install video to build confidence. I think I've seen enough that I can install my racks
Ya gotta love customers that help make your job easier by clearing the area so you can work safely.
Im installing right now thanks
Thanks for the video. Helped me installing it this weekend
Your very welcome. Hope your project turned out great. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Cheers,
Bob
As always a perfect job Bob
Awe, shucks. Thank you.
Good video thank you

I threw many manual like that too!
Great video, though I think you forgot to use the provided washers when assembling the vertical posts.

If the joists are 48 inches apart, no choice but to run them parallel

Bob, whats the weight limit on the SafeRack? Looks as if its only meant for light weight duty.
