Excellent video, Just installed 12" KST Bison Bagger bars on my 2024 Street Glide. Using this video and KST's install video I was able to install my bars without having to remove the fairing. Also, KST has amazing service and quality products. Thanks to Brandon for his help and quick responses to my questions. One of the best detailed videos on youtube and I can also say the same about KST's install videos.
Oh man, I wish every how-video on TH-cam was as clear, concise, and as free of fluff as this one! I just shared it to a SG trouble thread on Facebook. EXCEPTIONAL WORK!!!
Great video. I changed the bar on my 24 Street Glide to the Tall Boy using this video as a reference and it went very well. The only problem that I had was getting the throttle side electrical cable through the new bar. I would love to know how you did it since that was not covered in your video. Thanks!
I push weed eater/trimmer line through the bar then use electrical tape to attach it to the wires. Then just pull it through the bar. You can also put some wire lubricant over the tape to make it slide around the bends easier.
You will not need to remove the fairing if you are just adjusting the bars. Just remove the media tray and loosen the two lower bolts. Adjust bars then tighten them to spec.
New Sub here, going to install KST 12" Bison bars on my 24 Street Glide standard. Question, its my understanding that you can remove the p-clips from the triple tree holding the brake and clutch cable with a right angle T27 standard lenght or (extra long) correct? Without removing the entire fairing correct? Also, Im a little confused KST is telling me you need to purchase a longer clutch cable or a fat baggers extension if you use the stock clutch cable, for the clutch cable to reach and work correctly. Can you clarify this for me please. It would be great not to have to remove the entire fairing. Thanks in advance, great great video.
Yes, a right angle torx will do the trick removing the p-clips, that is what I used. As far as using the stock brake and clutch lines, it depends on the height of your bars. I did not have to change anything when I installed Harley Tallboy bars, which are about 2” taller than stock (about 11”). You will need to check yours when you install the bars. You will not need to remove the whole fairing if you follow this video, even if you need to swap clutch lines.
I want more videos! I could listen to your sultry voice all day! Wish you did videos about a 99 4runner. I would be able to fix anything with your detailed videos!
Thanks for your video - I’ve been wanting to change to the tallboy bar but thought I had to remove the inner fairing. This bar is a couple inches taller than stock - does it have more pull back (maybe by rotating down a little?)
I swapped out my stock bars today for the HD Tall Boy handlebars. Unfortunately with the 2023.5 CVO, you can't swap out the bars this way as there is a metal bar preventing you from manipulating the handlebars as shown on the 2024 in this video. I ended up removing the inner faring and accomplished the task. Thanks for the video as it inspired me to take on the swap on myself!
I’m intrigued by why you couldn’t do it this way as there is no difference between the 2023.5 CVO and the 2024 SG. I’m not sure what you’re calling a metal bar that’s in the way. Could you point it out in this video? These are the tallboy bars shown in this video.
@@BrandonsHarley There actually is a difference around the key lock. I took a picture of it on my bike so I could show how this bar with a metal prong on each end prevents the bars from being manipulated. However, I don't see how I can add it to this thread.
You can do it this way, unless you go with the 12" bars and need to replace the clutch, right?! I just replaced my bars and took all off.... BTW, thank you for this one. I had to readjust my bars and it took me 15 minutes. Great video, keep them going! Subscribed!
You can still replace the clutch cable and brake line this way. You just remove the p-clip retainers from the top of the triple tree and it will free up the lines to be replaced. There is one retainer for the brake line, and one for the clutch cable. You will need to have a right angle T27 (like an Allen wrench, but a Torx) to get the bolts out. There is not enough room to get a T27 socket in there. For 12” bars, you do not need to replace either line. Removing the p-clips from the triple tree gives enough slack.
I installed the Harley Tallboy handlebars. Thankfully, there is plenty of clutch cable and brake hose available, so extensions were not needed. I did remove the two p-clip retainers on top of the triple tree for each of those lines to give a little more slack. There are other people who left that alone and had no issue. The wiring for the hand controls is very long and could easily accommodate a handlebar up to 14 inches.
Thanks! To adjust the bars, the service manual state you can just remove the tray, loosen the two exposed clamp bolts (and the alignment bolt if you still have it), make the adjustment, and tighten the two clamp bolts. These are the HD Tallboy bars. About 2” taller than stock.
With the 2024 model putting on the Tall Boy handlebars, did you need to put the mirrors on the bars? I put the Tall Boy handlebars on my 2020 street glide special and I could still see behind me with the mirrors on the faring.
@@stevenicolle1598No. nothing new was needed. I did have to adjust the bends in the factory clutch cable though. I also removed the p-clip retainers from the upper triple tree so the brake line and clutch cable would have more slack.
These are the Harley Adversary (gloss black w/highlights) P/N 56000354 (left) and 56000355 (right). These are the CVO mirrors. Hi Brandon, great job! I’ve got some questions for you, what type of handle bar did you install and didn’t you need any extensions for clutch, switches etc. All the best from Germany ✌️

@@BrandonsHarley Thanks for your response, much appreciated! I’d like to install the „HD Fused Handle Bar 55801469“ soon. After your feedback I’ll try to keep the original components as well. BR Thomas
The outer fairing shell is removed, not the fairing. If you’re familiar with any of the previous models of batwing fairings, you might remember that the entire fairing has to be removed, which required considerably more labor as you have to disconnect all electronics, brackets, etc.

Do you think it would still be possible to do the replacement using a 1 1/4" diameter handlebar without removing the inner fairing?
Yep, I’ve helped someone do a 1-1/4” bar this way

Is it the Procedure for 2023 street glide
No
I’d like to see the bike come without a fairing.
We will see if Harley brings the touring updates to the Road King in 2025.
is that a grease zerk on the handlebar clamp
Absolutely not. On the clamp itself is a locating screw for use with stock bars. Keep grease away from the handlebar and clamp.
