I traded my 2022 RG Special for a 2023 RGS last December with the notion of maybe trading again in 2025. I wanted to see if the liquid cooled 117 had any issues on the 24's.....and the new fairing electronics/etc to some extent. I always do a 1000 mi round trip for my break-in and 1st oil/pri/trans change. I wonder if his issue is becoming commonplace on the '24 Tour bikes or if this is an isolated issue ? Sounds like HD might have a recall issue......Aw well, I haven't been stranded yet so I know I'll be on a RG w/ 117 in '25. There's a lot to like about the new RG...... Hope this ends up a simple fix...
I literally was at the dealership going to buy one and went home instead and watched several videos on this. The fact that they can look you in the eye with a straight face and sell you a $30k bike with known issues is unbelievable
I own 2. I just bought a 2006 ulta with 30k. The took real good care of it. He died so I didn't ask him about. Get it it home. The front cylinder at the bottom gasket is weeping oil. The fuel sending unit is bad thats $230. I'm sure it will be over a grand the get a new gasket installed. Also own an 82 shovel head. It's always some BS with a Harleys. Then they had the cam chain tensioner problems from 2001 to 2003. They need to get there shit togather. The dealer neer me has a big inventory and they ain't selling alot right now.
After living through various first year new technology model, drivetrain of Harleys, Trucks & car issues, I ‘ve learned to wait till year 2 or 3 the of production of the new things before buying it. I never buy the first year of any new vehicle 4 wheel or 2 wheel vehicles. Let someone else live through the glitches and I now confidently buy new a few years down the road . My vehicle purchase are so good since going to this way of upgrading my rides. Too many new supply sources dictated by cost cutting always has a learning curve. When it works dont screw with it for at least for 5 years Harley!
@@thomasmccullagh1300 It absolutely applies to cars, motorcycles, trucks boats etc. Initial quality control is one of the first things expenses eliminated by most companies that build things. Just look at Boeing! lol
"Ambassador of the brand" and donating all your problems and frustration for the cost of a $300 1000 mile service. Wow!!! That IS dedication. I could not have done that. I would have gone to another brand but not Indian because I had some problems with my Challenger, that Indian would not even acknowledge was an issue. Indian service or lack of it, may be on equal to what you experienced with H.D. Consider a Goldwing. The best touring motorcycle ever!!!
@@StephenKeller-ey9gm Law says otherwise, the dealer has a set amount of time to fix it, if they can't fix their own vehicle that's especially brand new or void the sale for reimbursement. In my state its 24 months from the time of purchase.
Harley Davidson bought back a new road king from me back in 2005. They couldn't figure out why it would randomly kill so I killed the purchase and told them to buy it back. I was done with Harley. It was a horrible experience and corporate was making me out to be the bad guy in the situation. No more HD BS.
Great video, but it’s sad that you had to make it. I’m an old man now, not able to ride anymore because of health reasons. In my younger years I never rode anything but Harleys. Yes, the early models had their issues, always leaked oil when you put the kickstand down. Regardless, they were engineered simple enough that I could wrench them myself, so even if I had an issue on the open road I could usually get it back running long enough to take it to a dealer if the repair needed was beyond my capability. In 2003 I bought a brand new 100 year anniversary Fat Boy. Great ride and I loved it, put a 1,000 miles on it when the engine started sputtering. Long story short, the dealership finally replaced the engine. I’ll always remember coming out of the dealership one day when another guy asked me, “What piece of shit did you buy?” After listening to your experience I am left to believe Harley Davidson is still selling shitty bikes.
I have not long bought a 2002 Fat Boy. Don't know much about it ,but can you confirm it does not have any fancy electronics on it please. Its immaculate 12000 miles. I do know the 2002 had a solid crank and reliable timken bearing .I beleive after 2003 it was a pressed crank .??
That's the trouble these days ,the bikes are all computer plug in stuff diagnostics. The days have gone when you coukd sort your bike out on the road .Needs a computer technician now ,not a mechanic.

@@snakebite6511who said anything about throwing a tantrum? After everything, culminating with the Daytona story it wouldn't even be unreasonable to say he's your're bike back, you figure it out, I want a new one that starts. Especially with the price tag they come in at.
@@snakebite6511 Nobody said anything about acting like a child. Do not make assumptions. I don’t believe I would’ve been as passive as he has been, and I would’ve forced their hand to fix this sooner. Maybe the people you hang out with would act like that, but not I.
The problems began in 2021 with the Sportster S. Your 2024 shows me that HD hasn't resolved the issues they knew about then and are putting flawed engineered systems on new models. My issues are as follows: 1. Timing Chain Tensioner failure. The engine was rebuilt at 4200 miles and spent months in the shop. 2. Software defects. Multiple "updates" 3. Battery drains if not left on a tender. The bike won’t start until the battery is charged. 4. Fuel Pump failure at 4K miles. I have found some workarounds. I keep my key fob stored away from my bike. I leave it in Sport mode all the time. I don't trust it. Warranty expires in a month, and I will sell it on the cheap if anyone is interested. HD should have bought it back, but the local dealership refused to repay the amount I overpaid for it... I appreciate you telling the truth about these bikes. There is some relief in knowing it's not just me having issues.
I'm glad I went with a 2023 model. These new ones with all the electronics and software update requirements sound like it's going to be a nightmare for some. I would've lost my shit. I hope things work out for you.
@jvillain9946 '23 SG ST, 10K miles, zero issues. Zero issues with the '19 SG Special before that. Zero issues with the '13 Breakout CVO before that. None of them were first-year releases, though. At this price point, I don't think the customers should be finding the bugs.
@@jvillain9946my 23 just ticked over 40K miles. No issues. The ‘11 before it did 100K miles. No issues. Not one HD I service has had a mechanical failure. Not. One.
I'm surprised that Harley didn't pick it up. There is another channel ICEAGE TV, he had the same issue, and it was because of Transport Mode. FYI - thank you for sharing your content. Very helpful and supportive. Much success to you and your channel
I’m always amazed at how patient HD owners are with the brand. I’m also thankful there is always a pile of these videos every time I think I should buy one. I know for me, after any of the times I spent over $20k on a motorcycle and had a break down or so much as a glitch I’d be moving on. I did unload a 2007 road glide custom, a 21 Road King and a 17 triumph explorer along with a R18 TC, all within 3 months of purchase due to issues. The Triumph the only one to leave me sit on the way to work. Stupid thing wouldn’t let you start it below 40 degrees, the computer would disable the start function based on battery voltage at a calculated rate. Great bike otherwise. But a bike that makes me late for work is worthless to me.
@@CornholeKing-v5w too many on TH-cam in my opinion. If I wasn’t working all the time I’d love to bring to light all the other options out there via TH-cam

Man, you are one patient individual! You pay $30,000 plus for a bike you expect it to run. This is exactly why I didn't buy the first year M8 2017. Sure enough it had problems. I waited until 2020 and so far so good. Best of luck with yours. Keep us updated.
Yea they are not 30,000, they are close to Honda and Indian's pricing. Its a awkward time for Harley where they are trying to push the 2023's out the door for the 24 year. There is no more "special" models all features are on both so manufacturing is cheaper.
@@brooktech7869 how are they not 30? 26 for grey with chrome, and that's all. If you want black trim and any other color of paint 2g extra. Add taxes and dealer crap to 28g and tell me it's not 30k ?
I was a state highway patrol officer for 25 years. I remember pulling over hundreds of times for broken down Harleys, plus our own fleet of Harleys was in the shop for what seemed like 10 times more than the Kawasaki. To this day, when I see a broken bike on the side of the road, it's a Harley. I'm just saying!
I love the older Harleys when I was riding them I was wrenching, but it was my bike. When I ride I like long distance rides and would not trust Harleys to get me back.
Many Harley owners modify their motorcycles themselves, cut corners on service, use the wrong gas, and all kinds of things that cause them to have engine problems. It does not surprise me, so many Harley owners act like it is the 1980s still and you can just wrench on your bike yourself without any training or knowledge. Almost all new bikes have all kinds of electronics and very tight tolerances to meet emissions standards and the "I want all the electronics" demands of the customers. Just like with cars.
I have a 22 Pan America and some of the same issues with the lights were fixed with software updates. If the bike detected a drop in voltage it would shut off non essintal systems. After they fixed that, I have been sold. Sounds like they are having the same kind of teething issues. I totally get why your frustrated and at the same time glad they are taking care of it. Thanks for keeping us posted, and enjoy that beautiful bike.
Too much unreliable tech for a bike. What you think will happen when it gets some age on it and they don’t wanna work on them anymore? No thanks! I’ll save tons and keep riding old Harley’s that don’t have all these computers.
I agree with you. I new one would be really nice but my 2000 Electra Glide is doing me just fine. I might add a 6 spd trans, but my Twin Cam will always be serviceable and i can do most things myself. 🍻
I bought a 114 Heritage Classic softail fantastic bike, no nonsense TV on the front or navigation. I use my phone with a blue tooth to my helmet for navigation and music. T have ridden the street glide and road glide for around a 4,000 miles each, they are over weight over rated prices of shit. There's no need for a pile heavy of tech in the fairing weighing down the front and making braking and low speed manoeuvring harder, wasting gas and wearing the tyres out. The rubber mounted engine isa liability, why H-D have not been sued i don't knoe, The heritage is more comfortable, handles like it's on rails uses less gas and tyres, and is a gentleman's motorcycle with manners and subtlety not something tattooed ruffians will understand.
You are awesome to share this. As a Fit Specialist (sales) I am learning so much of the 2024 Models. It is always a tough 1st year on any new vehicle, auto or bike, so I am glad you get it. I hope your bike is all "better" now! I hope Harley-Davidson figures it out fast! Thank-you sir!
Kinda reminds me of the movie Gremlins from 1984. Speaking of Gremlins, the biggest Gremlin that gets overlooked are the main electrical system grounds, mainly the battery negative cable bolted to the frame and any other electrical system grounds mounted to the frame. New bike, new wiring harness like you said. Possible loose ground bolts. Possible ground wire eyelet trying to ground to the frame through paint instead of through a cleaned ground mounting point on the frame (that is not paint free).
New design or not one would hope the Motor Company would have better quality control. Enjoyed your video. You seem a lot calmer about it than I would have been. 😊
Being a former mechanic this sounds to me like a ground issue you have a bad ground somewhere sometimes it's making a good ground sometimes it's not have the dealer check every ground on the motorcycle have them clean the paint off the frame or wherever it's grounded to so it makes good contact and that the wires are in good shape it definitely think it's a ground problem
I have a 2023 CVO, I had the same cranking issues. 4 trips to the dealership within 3 weeks of owning my new 2023 CVO Roadglide. However me bike wouldn't crank at all no matter how long I waited. After the 4 visit the dealership told me it was a bad connector on the fuel pump. It was making the motorcycle think it was out of gas. Sometimes while I rode the motorcycle I could feel the jault. It was like the motorcycle ran out of gas while I was riding, then the connection quickly reconnects causing the jault. If it issue continues have them check your fuel pump.
That was also my thought especially when he woke up to a drained battery. Bad gound was just that on older bikes but on these newer ones it could include any of the other electronic modules that are now part of the system especially those on the unswitched circuit. Best of luck to him and the company sorting this out; they're great bikes when running right.
I bought a new pan America. Same crap, wheelie control failed too. Couldn't trust it so I sold it. But it went in limp mode every time I rode it, so I had to clear codes. Same electronics I have a 2020 RGS with 131 and trask turbo without all the electronics and all is good. So good luck to ya!
@Itsme-mx5tl yeah imagine ! Sorry , I have to ask why would one still buy a Harley after hearing owners complain . Do they feel honored to be bestowed the experience of an unreliable ride ? That they paid big money for ? All to be part of the club ?

I wish i would have seen this before picking up my 2024 Street Glide. I rode it home 5 hours from the deslership, and it had a minor glitch with Bluetooth. Today, 2 weeks later, and I haven't hit first service yet, the cruise control stopped working. Then the Bluetooth glitched again. I am worried that i have some electronic issues. Issues i didn't have with my BMW R18
I've ridden HD bikes professionally for a police dept for 26 years. I"ve seen some of the issues. My personal bike? a Yamaha for that reason. 2007 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe 95k miles of road trips and I've never needed "the large dealership network" on the road, the bike starts and runs as it should since new. You're a patient man Hegshot, I'm not and especially for the money they want.
Sorry to hear about all your troubles. I have a 23 Indian and they had to do the rockers. They had a bad batch the motorcycle was vibrating and it had less than $2,000 Mi on it. It seems to be running better now. But my gas cap won't open which is a huge huge problem with these vehicles after they sit an entire winter. I went on Indian and saw the reviews and there was like six or seven bad reviews whether it was a one or two or three and they were all the earlier versions from 2020 or 2021

Other day at dealer a 24 CVO came in. Transmission was bad and had a split case. 6000 miles. Owner was traveling thru and not happy. Thankfully haven’t had any issues with my SGST
This is why I still have my old reliable Stratoliner.just change tires and oil.I’ve broke down on one too many Harley’s and the first one I owned was back in 84
I really hope that was the last of your issues! I want to buy that exact bike and color next year, but if these problems continue, i will just keep what i have. Thanks for updating us all!
I’ve owned a 2005 Shadow Sabre VTX1100 for 20 years. Never had a single real issue other than basic maintenance and replacing cables and brake lines at the 19 year mark. This video is convincing me to buy a Goldwing and call it good.
You're not the first person I've seen having these issues. Sorry they are happening to you - I wouldn't be too happy if I spent that kind of $$ and had those issues.
I have found in now owning a bike with lots of tech (Indian Pursuit) that electrical/battery issues are consistent. Keeping my bike on a tender (Indian even placed a SAE socket on the top fork mount to make it easy to get to) is a must after every ride and when not in use. For reasons that some say are key fob related (bike looking for it), to small checks the bike does (yes even when not in use) there is a draw. Also in regards to dealers and service, when I was looking at the 24' RG and the Indian as my next bike, the sales people had no idea on Skyline or Ride Command and how to use it, especially the mapping / navigation. They have "special" contacts for these systems, which basically do not solve anything, but they welcome "your input". Your patience is outstanding!
I am not a Harley guy. I ride Indians. I own a 2019FTR-RR, 2021 Scout Bobber, 2022 Chief Bobber DH and a 2022 Challenger Limited. When I am not riding my motorcycles they stay on a battery maintainer - 100% of the time. Modern motorcycles must see the correct voltage when you turn them on and ask them to start. If the battery voltage is even slightly low you run into all kinds of problems. All modern bikes suffer from some degree of parasitic drain when they are not running.
Not a Harley rider either but my 2022 Suzuki has plenty of electronics and it sat in an unheated garage in ND all winter and fired right up. I’ve had a dozen or so from different manufacturers and not one has needed a tender
My 2023 F-150 constantly searches for the key fob. You can hear it turning on the computers even when the key is nowhere near it. Keyless start is nice, but a major issue for all vehicles.
I commend your candor! I was a BMW R1150GSA rider for 14 years. I always appreciate HONEST assessments and experiences. It is frustrating to read about a US bike with so many issues.
Sorry I’m old dude I pressed the button before I finished, great territorial On problems, you’re having with your bike and giving content out there to help other people ride safe
The issue I've been having from brand new is the fact no music from the speakers. I started taking off the main fuse, unpairing my phone and Cardo but nothing happened until I unplugged the amplifier. Then sound would come out of the speakers. It would work for a few days and then do the same thing. I took it to my local dealer which are awesome people by the way. They said they would do the update and it gave them issues with that. After a week they were able to update the system. When I picked it up I checked the sound and no sound from the speakers still so I turned around and took it to service which they checked again and they found out two fuses were missed placed. The 30amp was where the 15amp goes and vice versa. The switched them and it worked. I've been with the bike for a couple of weeks and sounds has been playing from the speakers until today coming home. I can make it to where I can switch the music to play through my Cardo but not the bike speakers. It's frustrating to have this issue but other than that the bike has not given me any other problems. My bike has only 350 miles I know but they have been city miles where I have turned on and off the bike multiple times without any issues except for the speakers on the bike. This is my first Harley and I'm a novice rider. I do LOVE riding her though. I'll probably take her back to the dealer to see what they say.
Damn man, I really hate that you've expeerienced all of these issues. I have not (yet) experienced anything like that in the first 500 miles, but the bike's been sitting for a month waiting on the snow to clear now. I really hope they can make it right for you, and I appreciate you sharing your experiences in case I run into the same issues.

@@Mikeispetty916 I'm 76, and for a variety of reasons my motorcycling days are over. I watch all kinds of motorcycle videos, mostly out of nostalgia. I had friends who owned Harleys, and it seemed that they spent more time getting them fixed than riding them.
My 2021 Street Glide CVO spent most of its first 4 months in the shop with the service department throwing parts at it in the blind. Ended up contacting HD corp who promptly sent a factory tech to the dealership who swapped out the entire wiring harness. Been riding it for 3 years since then with no more problems. They extended my factory warranty to compensate me for the time it was in the shop. I'm not mad at HD but I do feel like this situation shouldn't have happened. I'm just glad they fixed it so I can continue to enjoy my motorcycle.
So another old lifelong rider. I owned a 76 fxe and a 77 flh, those amf Harley’s were not exactly bulletproof. LOL Not saying as bad as this 24RG, they also didn’t cost $30k. I’m fortunate to still be able to ride. Nowadays a 14 fxdb, just cause my 08 flh just got too heavy at low speeds. Ride till ya die. RIP brother Tiny
I had a stalling while riding issue with my KLX230. After taking it back to the dealer 3 times for the same issue, I got a call from the dealer who said that they believe the issue has now been fixed (turned out to be a faulty spark plug arrester cable) but they would hate to return me the bike a 4th time if the problem was now not truly fixed and asked for my permission to allow the service tech to ride the bike home that evening and back to the dealership the following day just to make sure it no longer stalls. I said OK. The bike has been perfect ever since. Now, stop finding excuses for HD, you can see the difference between true customer service from Kawasaki as compared with HD. Too many folks have got rid of their Pan Americas (taking a big hit financially) because HD has not been able to fix issues in any reasonable time and these owners just can't trust to take the bike out on long rides with confidence that it ain't going to break down/not start. Interesting how 2024 PAm models now have a bigger battery and significant charging system upgrades - tells me what is causing all those PAm issues .
Bought mine 20 Feb 2024. I have had only 1 problem and it was minor. My music would play and just not show up on screen. Never and issue with starting or shutting down. No abs or traction issues 2,000 miles in
It will be corrected with an update. Sad but that’s the state we live in. It’s mechanically solid, it’s the Chinese electronics on everything that seem to be the problem.
It is for every youtube dummy, so they can click-collect more business… that’s why they all jump into that alpha bed, not because they’re naive and honest.
It sounds like your bike came with a bad BCM and the repeated issues from that took a toll on your battery. That is a significant issue, but not one that I see being widespread currently. Harley definitely needs to take care of that for you and then some. As an alternative perspective, I have 1500 miles on my 24 road glide and it has been nothing but a dream to ride. I haven't been easy on it either. I've done a number of upgrades on it and performed all the work myself. I can definitely say that the 24 model is much easier to work on than my 2020 road glide that I had previously. They did a lot of things right with this redesign. Regardless, I hope your motorcycle is finally fixed and your get to enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine.
Being new, there can be a few incidences like this TO A POINT. Multiple repeat incidents at this price point is pretty much unacceptable. There is a serious problem that they haven’t figured out it would appear. I pray that you will have a positive outcome.
Ok so, full disclosure. I bought a 2022 PAS from Stampede HD in Burleson TX last April. My 1st HD. I had 6mo and 6K miles of problem free riding. Then for whatever reason all sorts of the issues you have described. Not as soon as with your RG but nonetheless... I feel like the problem is is that we as owners give the motor company too much slack when it comes to releasing these bikes without properly getting them road tested and the information out to the dealers to repair these bikes when a problem, child does slip through the cracks of the final test and fit procedure at the build shop. It's like we all say "well that's what happens" and "that's just all part of the ownership experience" . But really it should be unacceptable. Honestly, we should not accept anything less than just about perfect with a modern motorcycle built in 2022 or 2024 or whenever. When I called for an explanation I was a bit frustrated and I asked my dealer why he thought there were all these problems with my bike and he told me "these bikes have a lot of tech in them" and I told him that I don't think that's a good excuse for these bikes not running the way they should. A lot of things that are on the road have a lot of " tech in them ". My grocery getter Toyota Corolla has an awful lot of tech in it and it starts and runs fine. Every single time I hit the start button. Hell my refrigerator has a lot of tech in it and it runs fine as well so I don't accept that as a problem with again a modern motorcycle. We as owners need to quit accepting and being so forgiving of the motor company for delivering a vehicle that has flaws that soon out of the gate regardless of the fact that the warranty is unlimited miles or what have you. I am glad that the bike seems to be running good. I've had my eye on that model as well so I'm paying very close attention to all these tests and review bikes of the 2024 road glides. I love the appearance of that bike and I would love to actually buy one, but it's tough when I see owners having the same problems that I'm experiencing on my Pan America.
Bingo, the reason why these problems keep happening is because Harley knows they can get away with it since nobody is willing to put their foot down and say "I'm going to your competitor(Honda, BMW, Yamaha, etc.) and not giving you any more of my money."
I bought a 2022 Honda CBR1000RR-R. Around 200hp, 430 lbs, lots of technology (not gimmicks). 7800 miles, zero problems. Well, except the back tires wear out quickly.
Recently purchased a 2024 RG I’ve had the shake thing and ABS light come on like you but went off. Main issue I had was everything on the dash shut off, came back on and lost all audio out of the speakers. Once again, turned off and back on it was fine. Bike only has 395 miles so far.
Great video. How many other owners have had this problem? I took a 24 Street Glide for a long test ride on Saturday and loved it. Never ridden a Harley before but thinking of crossing to the dark side…
I'm sorry to hear of the issues you have had. I've got a 24 Strret Glide with only 46 miles on it. Hopefully, the weather improves soon so I can ride it.

Not thrilled with that answer. 3 more updates were also applied while it was in.

Thank you for this great video, i been thinking about getting another HD after a few years after selling my streetbob. And you reminded me of all the issues I used to have and the lack of help from the dealers. Some dealers act like they are doing you a favor when you bring the bike to them
Thanks for sharing. A friend just bought the 2024 CVO and so far its working ok. You have convinced me to stay clear of the new models until they can sort out the mess. I will keep my present machine for a few more years. Sorry to hear about nightmare, you are far more patient than I would be.
I have had vehicles, motorcycles, atvs, boats through the years and some had issues, some did not. Did have problems with an HD I bought right from the start. HD dealership and corporate were great about fixing it and I was running stock everything. Only after the warranty will I start mod anything on my toys.
I've owned TWO 2002 BMW R1150-RS bikes, and put over 167,000-km on them and have had exactly ZERO issues with either one. It's quite nimble on the twisties for a bike this big, quite fast, and very comfortable for day-long rides. Looks great and is super easy for me to maintain myself. Would never consider buying H-D for obvious reasons...
As motorcycles, especially Harleys, get more advanced and complicated electronic-related issues are to be expected. It also seems to be the case with the latest model passenger cars and trucks these days. Compared to a 2024 Road or Street Glide my 2014 Road King is a simple bike...but that could be a good thing. 🙂
I completely understand the issues that would STOP someone from buying one! I just bought a new ‘23 CVO Road Glide and had the start issues plus I took it for a short ride one day, got to my destination and stopped for 10 minutes. When I restarted my bike the screen was completely black!!! Called the dealer and they had discovered programming issues and they had a fix for both issues. When I got home, pulled in the garage, stopped and restarted and the screen issue was gone! Took it to the dealer and I haven’t had ANY issues since upgrading the programs! I LOVE THIS RIDE!!! The power and handling are serious GRIN worthy!!! I get excited just thinking about hopping on it!! I had a ‘21 Street Glide Special with a stage 2 and I thought it was awesome but the 121 in there Road Glide…..WOW!!! I won’t be spending money on an upgrade cuz this baby is scary fast as it is!!!
Watched this just to be aware of potential issues because I have one as well. Mine has been great so far. You’ve handled this much better than I would’ve.
You do have to take it to the dealer for the imfu updates. They are only available through our hd website but if you know a tech, they can log in and put it to a flash drive for you. I forgot to add that your bike won’t start because it is not detecting a crank signal. There is an issue with your ckp connector/ wiring to the ecm
Sorry to hear about your issues. My lifter failed on my bike after 19000km. Less than a year if riding. Drstroyed the motor. Harley didnt want to help at all. I have haf 7 harleys. This my last. Bought a s&s to replace it and got rid of all those crap plastic engine parts. 3 of my buddies bought jndians after seeing the BS i went through. The new harleys look great up to thst digital display. That thing is going to make life hell on a harley. Indian will be my next brand after the way the motor company treated me.
My 2015 rgs had the same issues. Power until hitting thestart buttonn then no power at all. Would not take a jump. Research brought me to the bcm. Isolated the starter trigger, wired up a starter button. Good to go. Didnt have the 500 for a new bcm. Thanks for the video
You've provided a good amount of information that it would lead me to believe one of two things are happening. Either you have a faulty power relay somewhere or a bad common ground somewhere.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I feel your pain. I bought a loaded 2021 Pan America. I have had nothing but problems with it since day two, just like you. Not starting and even turning over. The Stator quit at 6500 miles. The fob and bike wouldn’t recognize each other. The forums also list ECMs and Starter Clutches breaking. This is my 6th Harley, and last. The MoCo is clueless about technology and I think my bike was assembled by a DEI hire who never turned a wrench before. I had bolts backing out on their own. I hope they treat you right and you get what you paid for. Which is a high priced premium product that is not living up to the marketing bullshit. 😎
Hi 👋, Happy Easter, There is a guy in the uk , I believe he’s having similar problems, I think technology is too advanced for their own good, I have been a loyal Harley Davidson rider since 1994, i’m now on my fourth bike, and even if I could afford a brand-new bike, I would not buy it, I think with technology electronics that is now all in these bikes, the bike is never yours, you cannot do what you want to it, you /we are being controlled,
The new electronics on the 24 scared me away I ended up buying a left over 23 RG and am very happy with it...I'm working thru the learning curve of the 23 as my 09 EG has no info screen ... the 24 was another leap of extra buttons and screens I'm not ready for....
I think the battery replacement was the right move from the dealership. I currently carry two portable jumpers for my 2021 goldwing. The batteries can drain out on new bikes simply waiting for the stupid LCD screen to boot. Also make sure you mute your music and sound from your high watt speakers. I'm a bit dissapointed to hear that the new harleys are unreliable.
Just bought a brand new Indian FTR 1200, 1 month in and not a single problem yet and I absolutely love it!
When the mech suggests a "software update" is the moment you realize that they have no idea but are hoping that a refresh will fix it.
Wow!
Sometimes, it is that simple. Don't dismiss an update or reset, these newer vehicles are computers after all.
exactly
They had to software update my 22 Ultra Limited before I left the dealership the first time, however I’ve not had a lick of problems out of her since.
Same as when the M8 first came out.
😢
I'll stick to my gioldwing
Thanks for sharing. What’s the deal with this new bikes? It’s not only HD. My friend got a BMW, the same thing……,,

You have been unbelievably patient. I would ask for my money back. Totally unacceptable.

Lemon law states otherwise.
@@StephenKeller-ey9gm Law says otherwise, the dealer has a set amount of time to fix it, if they can't fix their own vehicle that's especially brand new or void the sale for reimbursement. In my state its 24 months from the time of purchase.

Ah man, you're just making me glad I have an old twin cam that starts and runs every time I hit the button. No fancy electronics, just reliability.
That's why I have an Evo. And it doesn't have the internal motor issues that TC models after 2002 have!
My 2022 Softail has been 100% reliable since I rode it off the lot. Wednesday build I imagine.

@@snakebite6511who said anything about throwing a tantrum? After everything, culminating with the Daytona story it wouldn't even be unreasonable to say he's your're bike back, you figure it out, I want a new one that starts. Especially with the price tag they come in at.

The problems began in 2021 with the Sportster S. Your 2024 shows me that HD hasn't resolved the issues they knew about then and are putting flawed engineered systems on new models. My issues are as follows:
1. Timing Chain Tensioner failure. The engine was rebuilt at 4200 miles and spent months in the shop.
2. Software defects. Multiple "updates"

But a bike that makes me late for work is worthless to me.

they aren't even 30 after taxes and title ffs ... people keep acting like these are expensive
I’ve bought many new bikes, none Harleys, and I’ve never had to deal with something like this.
@@Evirthewarrior I heard many interesting stories from HD techs about people wrenching on bikes. Your assessment makes a lot of sense.
I call BS, lol
Sadly old bikes are becoming outdated and parts will be harder and harder to get bits for with time and less and less people know how to work on them.
That's the whole idea. It gets worn out and unfixable and then you have to buy a new one
Damn man, sorry you had all those issues. You handled it a lot better than I would have!
New design or not one would hope the Motor Company would have better quality control. Enjoyed your video. You seem a lot calmer about it than I would have been. 😊
Amazing amount of honesty regarding a brand that you're loyal to. My hat is off to you!
Ground or a parasitic draw, but could just be a bad bike.
Agree, former Harley tech. Bad ground, battery was fine. Amps were there for cranking.
First thing I thought; circuit is opening somewhere.

Same. Day after I bought it wouldn't start. They picked it up, did the software update. Been good ever since.

Have had no issues, I like that.

My 1000sx is perfect
LOL, yeah, I had several new Kawasakis, never had a spec of trouble with any of them. Harley ownership is a special form of mental illness, something like sadomasochism.
My 96 Goldwing cranks right up every time, to this date the carbs have never been touched.
Something must have you guys wanting to switch or you wouldn’t be watching these videos
Exactly why I ride a 76 shovel head. The more electrical shit you put on these bikes, the more problems you're gonna have.
Yeah, oil leaks I can deal with...
My kinda guy….bikes, babes and guns. Pure ‘Merica.
Same reason I ride a 77 FXE 👍
some with cars, mechanical problems u can see them and fix them, but electrical issues is where the problems begins :)
So another old lifelong rider. I owned a 76 fxe and a 77 flh, those amf Harley’s were not exactly bulletproof. LOL
Not saying as bad as this 24RG, they also didn’t cost $30k.
No abs or traction issues 2,000 miles in
Being a test dummy isn't for everyone.
Absolutely brother..not a good sign for sure😮
It will be corrected with an update. Sad but that’s the state we live in. It’s mechanically solid, it’s the Chinese electronics on everything that seem to be the problem.
It is for every youtube dummy, so they can click-collect more business… that’s why they all jump into that alpha bed, not because they’re naive and honest.
@@GiancarloBenzina But for every you tube clown there are countless hard working people having these issues and that is a travesty.
@@carlbruhn1772 why you calling youtubers clowns?
100% battery issue. Simple as that.
Being new, there can be a few incidences like this TO A POINT. Multiple repeat incidents at this price point is pretty much unacceptable. There is a serious problem that they haven’t figured out it would appear. I pray that you will have a positive outcome.
Thanks for sharing with us, I did buy a 2024 road glide and I will be showing this to my dealership to get in front of this.
Sounds like a nightmare!
Hopefully, the weather improves soon so I can ride it.
lol sry but sounds like you might not ride it much. Pls post updates over the season.
@@waynejohnstone3685I'm riding it quite a bit now that it has warmed up. I'm just shy of 600 miles. I suspect I will need the 1K service in a few weeks. So far no issues.
@waynejohnstone3685 I just hit 1300 miles, the only issue so far was a minor one. The homelink unit that opens my garage door stopped working. While it was ine for the 1000 mile service the tech fixed it. He wasn't sure why it stopped working. Unplugging and plugging it back in fixed it. Not thrilled with that answer. 3 more updates were also applied while it was in.
@@jasontgillies Any further updates?
@@Hirzi-r3d I've put 3400 miles on it so far. I love this bike! It is great for long rides. So far the only issue was a minor one. Just before the 1000 mile service, the garage door opener stopped working. The tech was unsure what happened. He reset it and it has worked great. I've kept up with all software updates and if the bike gets ignored for more than a week I hook up the battery tender.
Would never have any of these issues with a goldwing.. everyone knows NOT to buy a new anything the 1st yr. a new model comes out but thank god for guys like u that don’t listen and do it anyway for the rest of us and Harley. They love u guys paying for and road testing all their new crap..im a Harley guy btw
Too much electronics and computers, that's why I love my 2015 Victory Magnum. Even though I believe it still has a lot of electronics but it's reliable and fires up every time I crank it up.
Not related to your issues, but I like how you and your crew rides. You were staggered safely and I noticed you warned riders behind you that there was a bicyclist on the shoulder. I am a rider and a bicyclist, so I notice these things. Good luck with your Road Glide.
I have a 2018 sportster 48. Simple Simple Simple! 😊
Bought mine 10 days ago. Zero issues love my bike and one of my buddies bought one awhile ago zero issues.. Very sorry to hear about your problems looks like you got yourself the preverbial "lemon" found in anything and everything on wheels..
You are a better man than I am. I would be screaming lemon law. Hope everything gets better.
Thanks for sharing-sorry to hear the issues you are experiencing. Good luck.
So glad I purchased a 2023 true tried and tested Prospect Gold RG. Sorry for your troubles Brother
Thanks man
Thank you for this great video, i been thinking about getting another HD after a few years after selling my streetbob. And you reminded me of all the issues I used to have and the lack of help from the dealers. Some dealers act like they are doing you a favor when you bring the bike to them
Sounds like at least one dealership was snowing you with BS explanation. You have the patience of a saint.
Thanks for sharing. A friend just bought the 2024 CVO and so far its working ok. You have convinced me to stay clear of the new models until they can sort out the mess. I will keep my present machine for a few more years. Sorry to hear about nightmare, you are far more patient than I would be.
Nice of HD to allow the customer to become part of the diagnosis process by taking video of the various issues.
Customer Care Indeed.
Sorry to hear, I bought a ‘24 Street Glide, mines been lights out OUTSTANDING…..my 6th and by far my favorite.
They would be buying the bike back from me if it was mine.
But Americans are red blooded and patriotic.
Good for you
I considered the BMW, but there's ONE dealer in my whole state, and it's a large state. My Road glide has been completely reliable
Had the same problem with my 2016 street glide. BCM went out 2 weeks into having the bike along with the battery. Changed both and works fine
Seems like every new vehicle that comes out has issues, I tend to wait a year or two for them to work the bugs out!
You got a lot of patience man....
That's why they are working all over him .😎
I had a similar alarm issue with my 2008 Harley v-rod, they have had the same problem for decades.
you just sold me on a japanese bike
My 2015 rgs had the same issues. Power until hitting thestart buttonn then no power at all. Would not take a jump. Research brought me to the bcm. Isolated the starter trigger, wired up a starter button. Good to go. Didnt have the 500 for a new bcm. Thanks for the video
They need to offer all black wheels on the blacked out models.
I’ve a 2023 street glide cvo same problem they changed the wire harness took 3 months it’s working fine thanks for sharing your story
Hi 👋, Happy Easter, There is a guy in the uk , I believe he’s having similar problems, I think technology is too advanced for their own good,
I have been a loyal Harley Davidson rider since 1994, i’m now on my fourth bike, and even if I could afford a brand-new bike, I would not buy it, I think with technology electronics that is now all in these bikes, the bike is never yours, you cannot do what you want to it, you /we are being controlled,
The new electronics on the 24 scared me away I ended up buying a left over 23 RG and am very happy with it...I'm working thru the learning curve of the 23 as my 09 EG has no info screen ... the 24 was another leap of extra buttons and screens I'm not ready for....
Better buy an old twin cam for a backup bike
True. '02 FLHT with 162,000 miles. Replaced cam chain tensioner with gear drive at 40,000 miles. Fluids, tires and brake pads and GO!
I'll take a twin cam any day over a m8
Mine is an 05. Did put a s+s gear drive in with a super e. 05 was theLast year you could get a had with a carb. 94 k miles later……..
